  1. A1 ammo has some. I see you live in Old Hickory TN you know there is a gun show at the fairgrounds this weekend. I know you said besides that but just in case, I bet they will be trying to move a ton of stuff if O'Nasty wins!

I thought I saw a billboard for that. I'll be there bright and early to see what is available.

    Thanks everyone!

  2. We'd send new guys on tour looking for a left handed hammer or crescent wrench... Even got one poor fellow to go "get me a bucket of steam" for the fog machine... He tried for over an hour.

  3. Would I wear it? Sure. Would I pay for it? Probably not.

If anyone wants one, pm me- I live in the Nashville area in Old Hickory and would be happy to meet up and give you one. I'm not concerned about making money on it, but I also wouldn't object to anyone wanting to throw a few bucks my way to help cover the cost.

I'm having 20 printed up and some are promised to people but plenty are available if you want one.

  4. Possible outcomes of wearing this shirt...

    1. People will "get it" and laugh

    2. People will "get it" and challenge you

    3. Logic / grammar / political geeks will take issue with some error in the phraseology and make fun of you on the Internet

I'd probably be in the first group.

As are most people I've talked to.

Just an informal poll to see if I should get more than a few made. Thanks for the feedback. Shirts should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday... PM me if you want one.

  5. If deciding factor for your vote is that candidate is same race as you, then you ARE racist.

    I agree totally.

I almost wish the views and positions of each candidate up for election could be presented with out seeing their face, race, gender, religious or political affiliation - at least initially.

There is something to be said for the way they present themselves, charisma, etc, but it seems that too often the real issues get overlooked due to all manner of prejudices...

  6. IMO, FD in it's current context is liberals attempting to legislate that their views must be presented to an audience that doesn't want to hear them.

Their blatant bias gets plenty of non-reciprocating airing on almost every major network.

I have been all over the world for various reasons and, like the starter of this thread, I am grateful I live in a country that allows freedom like we experience here - even the freedom to be stupid, uninformed and still allowed to say what you want :leaving:

  7. Well, when you decide to draw and fire your weapon to protect yourself/other's lives you need to be aware of everything that could happen. If you're not prepared to take the heat, then don't draw your weapon and run like he**.....and just hope you or your family doesn't get shot in the process......and then live with knowing that you might have been able to save live(s)

Personally, if I were in a situation where I had to draw/fire my weapon in a crowd of people, as soon as the threat was stopped, I would lay my weapon down, step back, and put my hands where the police or other armed citizens could see them. If I was able (after hopefully taking the BG by surprise) I would verbally try to let people know that I had a HCP and that I was not the BG.

I'm in agreement with you - I'm just getting used to carrying and probably over thinking the "what if's"...

    Thanks for your insights.

  8. One concern I have is this:

Say something bad does happen - a bad guy opens fire in a church, a good guy with a ccw draws his weapon and shoots the bad guy.

In the confusion of people running for cover and freaking out, people know someone is shooting and then all that law enforcement or other armed citizens see is someone standing there with a smoking gun.

Wouldn't it be hard to tell the good guy who shot the bad guy from the dead bad guy?

  9. To answer your question we do try and it is our intent to issue all permits within 90 days of the application, which would include the print farm.

Currently we have 8 employees to process and issue all handgun permit applications, process letters for denials and revocations, while they answer the phone calls from our customers. As of 8/13//08 we have 202,922 valid permit holders. IN 2007 the average number of permits processed per month was 4,800 and the average number of permits issued per month was 4,000. "

This may be the reason why phone calls work, their computer system does not tell which applications are pending so they don't pull applications up until someone calls and asks. On the other hand, HCP office pulls in $5.7 million a year in state revenue, and they have only 8 employees??? Something doesn't add up.

When does bloated bureaucracy EVER make sense?:D

I think you may be correct on the phone call reasoning.

Congrats on receiving your permit! I just received mine, too.

  10. I've been reading on this forum for a few months - Thanks for the great info.

I'm Danny, I live in Wilson County and just received my HCP in the mail yesterday. I took the advice I read on here and called in last week and they issued it that day.

    I carry an XD-40 subcompact.

I train in aikido and love it.

I have a company that make guitar effects pedals and studio gear. I'm into the entrepreneurial thing...

Thanks again for the great resource here.

  11. This is my first post - Thanks for all the info on this site.

I took the advice in this thread and called this morning. Tomorrow would have been 8 weeks. Low and behold they tell me it will be issued today and I'll see it in 7-14 business days...

So I really do think that calling and being pleasant helps. I spoke with Ronda at about 8:30am - phone rang three times, she asked me how long it had been since I submitted my paperwork, I told her, and then asked how she was and we chit chatted about the nice weather. Then she asked if I could hold for a minute, and about 30 seconds later she tells me the good news.

    Thanks for the advice!

Got it today, one week after I called, played nice and they said they issued it that day. Nine weeks total. Again, I'd highly suggest calling... I submitted paperwork in Wilson county.

Thanks again for the great info on this forum.
