  1. Got a couple I cast that are in the 1/2cent range. I've got we'll over $1k in molds though. Cost is only a partial factor, availability was the big one during the last drought of supplies. On average, I'd say each bullet w/o counting electricity, powdercoating, molds and time is in the actual $0.03 range. Savinsg are more prevalent on larger or odd calibers. 45acp, 300blk subssonic, 50beowulf really save over plated or jacketed.
If times get tough I keep a stockpile of factory bullets.
  2. I have a complete lower assembly that I just built. I am still new to this but I am learning. I am now looking for a reliable but good priced upper assembly. I prefer to have the flat-top type instead of the carry handle attached. And I am wanting it to be 16 inches and a 1/7 rifling twist .
What are some good brands that are reliable and priced good that are sold here around middle Tennessee so that I can walk in a shop and look at it before I buy instead of having to order it without seeing it ?

Don't take this the wrong way, but other than physical/aesthetic stuff, what will physical inspection do for you?
Order from a reputable online dealer, tax would be more than shipping if bought local. I recommend Palmetto State Armory. Stay away from their "Ptac" branded stuff, I'd go with their premium line. Set a budget, PSA can probably have you set up for $400 roughly.

This one has FN made cold hammer forged barrel. Add one of their BCG and charging handles.

  3. That's huge help. Thank you. I assumed that was the case, but as a non-dealer I wanted to make sure I was following the law. I can see the person who would buy it from me being leary about me (a private individual) holding their item until I get the tax form but after taking their money.

Lots of people do the 50/50 funds to keep things on an even keel. Buyer gives you 50% before and 50% when stamp arrives and item is getting picked up.
  4. Have you (or has anyone) done much testing with this round out of longer barrels? Would something like a 7-8" barrel add much velocity, or does 4-5" burn all the powder you can cram in there already?

A gentleman on Arf.com built an 22TCM AR using Tok mags, he got 3k fps.
  5. That is a rough reference. The fact they are so ambiguous about it says something. Either way, we know most of their guns are not USA made.

Umm....ambiguous? Good luck getting any 1911 manufacturer to tell you where their forgings are from or where the steel originated.
Fact, springfields are now made in the USA. Ruger is good at stainless casting, they have made frames and parts for other manufacturers for years. Most those manufacturers don't divulge they are cast by Ruger.
  6. I just got approved as well, well 3-4 months ago. Mine will be all titanium except for the all steel LID.

Mine is more of a do all rifle can all cones, will use Griffin .30 cal Taper mounts bored to size. Might have to make a taper to LiD adapter. I also have a 9mm pistol(all k's) only approval due up in 2-3wks that will direct mount to the LID. Both will be TI.
