  1. This will never happen. Some pigs are better than other pigs. But...as a talking point about restrictions and bans, 2A folks, politicians, organizations, etc, should stand pat that they will not accept any further restrictions period and there can be no discussion until those pushing for these laws and amendments to the constitution exhibit belief and leadership in their own principles.

Simply put, I won't even deign to discuss restrictions to any weapons/firearms until Obama and all those in favor of these laws until they give up theirs! When they counter they would never think of owning a firearm, we pointedly state that the Secret Service and any other protective details are to be disbanded immediately and no police escorts utilized by these folks as they are clearly not needed.

Mr. Obama, you cannot tell me my security is any less vital or important than yours. You cannot lead a nation unless your willing to abide by the same values and laws that you wish to place upon those that elected you.

If they wish to reinstate the AWB which will fix everything, then they can also save a ton of money by disbanding the SS and all law enforcement can by like British Bobbies, night clubs to break up the occassional fist fight as I'm sure that is all that will occur after we "remove the evil guns".

Surely we can look to Britian and Austrailia as models of how murder has been eliminated by their banning of firearms!;)

    I have spoken

    AMEN BROTHER! PREACH ON!:D

  2. Pretty much everything I was gonna say has been said here. I have about 14 years in, and I can already tell a marked difference in my health. It does affect you.

If you think everyone that stays in turns corrupt you're wrong. You can stand alone in that regard, but it does make it hard on you. Meaning standing up for what is right. Unfortunately, I do see a great many cases in which that statement is correct, just keep in mind it's not 100% correct. If I were to sit down and try to think of all the officers in my county and surrounding counties I know, and pick the ones I would trust completely, I could probably count them on one finger. Not a good ratio. So I can see why you would think that way, and I don't blame you.

It is a very thankless job. I do love the work I do most of the time, but it does get old. Heck, I've even stopped eating donuts because of this job!:poop: You do deal with the dregs of society, put your life on the line on a daily basis, and have to deal with a whole lot of stress. But, sometimes there comes along that one case where you can really help someone in need and maybe actually make a difference in someone's life and see good results from it, and at that point it just kinda all seems worth it.

  3. Thanks for that great piece of info gcrookston. I talked to a buddy of mine today who works at Sabre Defense in Nastyville. According to him, Sabre makes most all their own stuff now, including some handguards. Some of the smaller stuff like springs are still farmed out though.

I may be able to get a complete upper from him to get started. He's supposed to call me back when he goes through some of his stuff this week. That'll keep my cost way down. Just need to find a good deal on a good lower (like to find a Sabre lower somewhere to match) and then start gathering my parts.

  4. Been looking around a little, haven't seen this, so if it's already on here I apologize.

I'm thinking about trying another build to keep cost down, so, as far as AR parts are concerned, who actually makes what. I've seen some good reviews on here for Spikes tactical and Tactical Innovations lowers, I'm not familiar with those. I've also seen good comments about Smith and Wesson lowers and rifle. Now, when they first came out I always heard they were garbage. Are they good now?

So the question is, who actually machines out the upper and lower receivers for "Acme Whizbang Tacticool" and all the others.

Also, I used to know just a little about the forge markings. What's the story on these? I know it indicates who machined it, but how do you decipher them? Such as the keyhole, the bent/broken A, etc., etc.?

Side note: Anyone here have any experience with Sabre Defense?

  5. I am self employed and I do work for one man who owns 6 companies plus I buy sell and trade alot along with some small gun parts I make. Yes I have a wonderful wife who also shoots. House is paid for. No children. 4 cars paid for. It is just a good time in my life right now but I am far from rich.

Just kiddin around man. Sounds like you've done a fine job of keeping your house in order. Congrats. Maybe your wife can come on down here and teach mine how to shoot. Or at least teach her she doesn't have to be afraid of picking one up.

  6. You picked a heck of a time to start this.

I know. Just the issue of money. Seems I'm left scrambling at the last minute.

By the way, I'm also considering the newer Ruger Mini 30. Just need a good rifle geared toward defense that I can afford.

I tried to offer a Sig for trade. That didn't take, so I'm thinking about my Smith 586 6" 357 and maybe my Winchester Model 94 Ranger to get me there. Just putting out some feelers. Thing is, I'm still gonna have to be careful doing this and choose wisely. I'm not, nor will I be, desperate enough to get myself screwed.

  7. OK folks. I think I'm getting a little closer to being able to aquire a rifle. I'm still working on getting everything in order, and I'm trying to do all my research and plan ahead.

I'd really prefer to have an M1A or another high quality 308 MBR, but, like they say, I can wish in one hand and... well nevermind.

Still looking into the AR's. I've had experience with several Bushmasters, 1 DPMS, M&A Parts (good one there), Olympic Arms, etc.

Hoping to pick something up meeting my definition of a reasonable price, yet good and reliable.

I've been out of this game for while now. How bout some suggetions here on what's good and what's not (and where to find it). For example: how is DPMS and Olympic arms quality nowadays? Bushy, RRA?

Good points and bad points. Just give all the honest advice you can.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  8. I bet shes pretty hot maybe MILF status.

    I guess you're maybe thinking "blond" right?:P

By the way, I'm at work in my office. The door is locked so I can't get to the other side to use my keys! Someone please make the call for me because I can't reach the phone from where I'm sitting!:hat:

What I wouldn't give to have been able to have actually witnessed that going on. If I was an ossifer dispatched to that scene, I would surely have a complaint filed on me for pointing out the obvious.;)

  9. Aquaintance was trying to trade me a Century Arms AR today for my Sig 220. Until last night I didn't know Century even made an AR. With the Century Gun Butchers Incorporated name on it I won't even touch it, decision's already made there. But just out of curiosity, ya'll know anything about them?

  10. Haven't made any kind of decision yet on which brand AR to buy (hopefully soon). Been looking at some DPMS rifles. But what the heck is a "Sportical"?

  11. Glad to know it's not just me. I promise that I've never stepped on their cat or anything! I'm very laid back, I don't become a loud-mouthed "gun store commando" or a know-it-all when I step into a gun shop, and I'm very polite and courteous. I don't snap guns unless I'm about to buy something, and even then I ask first.

Oh well, thankfully, there are shops who seem glad you came in to do business with them. The Darwin principle eventually takes care of the others.

    Hickok

Yeah, I've been hoping the Darwin principal would take care of that one. Seems to be taking a long time though. And that's mostly all I've seen in there: know-it-alls and gun shop commandos.

Forgot to mention the good ones: Tennessee Gun Country on Ft Campbell Blvd, Clarksville. Run by folks who know what they're doing. Mostly a good attitude too. My absolute favorite though is Jerry Zeigner of Dover. Jerry's a Dover PD officer (one of the good ones) and runs a very small shop at home. His service has always been outstanding and I've seen very few times I could find anyone who beat his price. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. Goes by Hill Top Gun Shop.
