  1. Looks and sounds nice and I think you did well at $200 paid for it in my opinion.

I am not the best judge of real world value on these as I don’t care for 91/30s personally and don’t closely follow them but it seems like you got it for at least $80-$100 less than I would assume would be a normal price.

    Nice pickup regardless!

  2. There is actually one coming up in Sparta this weekend I believe, Lebanon too. If I am in town I will probably check out the Sparta show at some point. In my past experience there hasn’t been much C&R stuff at it but you never know!

I am in the market for a Garand and wondered if anyone had seen any sitting in shops around Crossville/ Cookeville area that are Rack or Field grade condition. Thanks for any heads up!

S&R Guns in Cookeville usually has one or two on the shelf. Haven’t been there in a few weeks but they might be worth a look if you are in the area.

I have one dated 1900. Has the same micro adjustable rear sight insert as the first one pictured. Adds about $100 to the value of the gun.

I saw a 1900 Oberndorf receiver M38 once in a local shop. Don’t recall if it had the micrometer sight on it but it was in great shape overall. Like an idiot, I didn’t buy it...

  5. I haven’t shared anything in a while and I figure some of you might enjoy these photos of a couple somewhat recent additions, a pair of Swedish M38s.

Both are all matching and function extremely well, which I suppose fits with their reputation. I recommend a Swedish Mauser to any surplus shooter/collector.

    First the older...

  6. My wife and I have grown to enjoy Cookeville and the surrounding area so I might suggest checking the area out as well.

You will enjoy TN regardless of the area as long as you avoid the larger cities. A dramatic improvement over IL.

  7. I agree with what others have said. Post photos for discussion in the Curio and Relic or message folks here and then list them for sale. I agree that Grayfox would be a solid resource in this area as well. Best of luck with it. You are doing an honorable thing trying to help the family through this!
