BTW, you know there isn't a gun made that kicks harder than a 870 Super Mag with 3.5" shells. You are going to look like that Arab shooting the T-Rex from the internet video.
Nothing like a little recoil to wake you up in the morning. Besides, I probally have close to 100 pounds on that skinny Arab guy.

DANG BOY! That sure is a nice set up.
I was within a gnat's nose of getting the Mueller, but ended up ordering the Burris FastFire II. I think you will like the Mueller, it really seems popular with the turkey crowd. I wanted the choice of dots, but went with the smaller sight in the end. Let me know how well you like it after the season is over. I still want to put a dot on my daughter's gun and will probably go with the Mueller.
I hope you hammer one with your dad's gun.
Thanks Whiskey.

Thirteen years ago my father and I went to Sports Authority in Knoxville to buy new guns to turkey hunt with. I got a Mossberg 835, he choose a Remington Express Super Mag. We only went a couple of times when we were drawn for the Chuck Swan hunt, neither of us ever got a turkey. Dad's health started getting bad, and we both stopped hunting. My dad has been gone over two years now, and I haven't been hunting in forever. My wife has been telling me I needed to go hunting again, it honestly has been tough for me to do that as I always went with dad and I just couldn't get excited about it anymore. This year I made a promise to myself that I would go, as it was something I enjoyed doing. A few weeks ago I dug out my Mossberg and noticed dad's Remington setting beside it. It then hit me that I could never hunt with him again, but I could use his shotgun and carry a piece of him with me. I hope to honor him by harvesting a turkey with his Remington someday, so I made a few changes to improve my odds.

I have added a Remington Sureshot stock and forearm in Mossy Oak Obsession camo, Remington scope mount, Mueller red dot sight, Primos Jelly Head choke tube, and will be shooting Hevi-13 3.5 #7 shot. Wish me luck, I know dad would approve...

I am going to shoot a few of the Hevi 13 #7 to see how they pattern. Right now I am shooting the Hevi Magnum blends of 5,6,7 shot. They pattern ok, but I have been wanting to try the straight 7s to see what I get.
Let me know how they work for you. I was going to get a box of the mag blends, went back to Bass Pro two days after seeing them and they were sold out. I found the #7's on line at Cabelas and ordered a couple of boxes.

I just ordered some Hevi-13. 3.5 inch, #7 shot. I hope to have everyone a performance report on opening day.

Great story, made me laugh too.

I saw a gobbler in full strut yesterday morning. A few warm days should start busting up these big flocks and get them fired up.
This gets me fired up too.

Thanks for everyone's advice on the tree stand. I am now going to put up a portable ground blind instead. I actually went to Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday because they had some nice ones advertised in the Sunday sale paper. I was quite suprised upon arrival that the Hunting department was almost empty. I will try to make it up to Bass Pro this weekend and pick one up. Good luck to everyone hunting this spring and be safe.

I have held a RTF glock. For some reason I like my 3rd generation glocks better.

Has anyone tried turkey hunting from a tree stand? I have just secured a nice place to hunt, the only issue is it's only 6 acres. I have a ladder stand and was thinking of setting it up and doing my best to call them to me. Would the stand give me or the turkeys the advantage? I am green at this, so any help would be appreciated.

Savage Model 10 synthetic stock chambered .243.
Cheap, acurate, & dependable.
And no I am not associated with this company at all.
Just a good choice. IMHO
Great advice, Savage builds a nice rifle for the money.

Very nice hog. I have been wanting to go myself, might have to give Loshbough a call...

I picked up my PM9 on Saturday and took it to the range on Sunday afternoon. The manual specifies a 200 round break-in, but I put 268 rounds of WWB 9mm through it without so much as a hiccup. I expected a lot more recoil in a gun this small and light, but that was not the case. It was very controllable, light recoil. I'm not getting rid of my J-frame, but the Kahr is now a contender for primary carry.
I knew you were going to love that Kahr. The trigger is so smooth, and will only get better with use.

Looking to stay in the $500-600 range and prefer wood stock.
What new ones should I look? Or would I be better off to find a used one but what model??
What are going to use the gun for?

Looks very nice, good job.

I see everyone saying night sites as a upgrade. Which brand are the best in every ones opinion?
I like the Glock factory night sites. They work very well and they are reasonably priced.

TWRA has leased some fields. If you go to the TWRA site, you can see the locations.

I have several Marlin's from .22 to .450, there's nothing like a good lever gun;)
