  1. I'm interested in finding out where we stand on this. I actually don't know exactly where the line is drawn on this to begin with. My friend up in MO says that up there if they post a sign you can still carry with a permit and that only if they notice and ask you to leave do you have to. Can't find the exact laws here but get the impression that it's a hard NO. So I just act accordingly.
  2. Never had a red dot with a separate magnifier before, but got the Romeo and Juliet on sale. Planning on heading down to the range to sight it in soon. I imagine you would need to first sight in the red dot then drop the magnifier down and resight it again? But I've never done one of these before so thought I'd check.
  3. Does anyone know how to tell what year a Citadel 1911 was made from the serial number? I have been searching everywhere and can't find a list of serial ranges or even anything that breaks it down into which parts of the number means what.
  4. Yeah that was my other question, it's a state to state thing from what I remember. Didn't think it mattered here, but yeah if he's concerned still I'll mention the bill of sale idea.
  5. Now I just got to get away from wife and kids long enough to take it to the range. Threw on the cheapest red dot amazon-grade sight that I am sure I'll be tossing as soon as I try it out.
  6. Have a weird situation and not sure what to do. About 20 years ago me and a friend went to buy two rifles, a 10/22 Ruger and a 30-30 Marlin lever action. We split the cost as we were pretty much always planning on shooting together. To this day neither of us can remember if we did the background check under his name, my name or 1 each. I kinda feel like they were both under my name, but may be wrong. But a few years later as we moved on to different states I payed him back for his half of the cost and we agreed both rifles were mine. We were talking the other day and he was asking if we should officially transfer the ownership into my name. I have no idea what the laws on this are, if it's needed at all or not and how we would go about it if so as we live 1000 miles apart now. Any advice?
  7. Is there any non-range areas such as BLM land or whatever where you can just go shooting? Or even just some areas where it's generally accepted?
  8. So I just watched about 4 hours of videos on the two types (with this long sucker being one of my favorites: ) and after all that I decided to go with single stage which I never thought I'd do but it doesn't look near as bad as I thought and pretty fun.
  9. Well I ordered the Lee Load All 2 as a start, still going to look around for a used one for rifle / handgun ammo for now.
  10. Used equipment is a good idea, I'm not getting into it trying to save money right away, I mean I wouldn't turn down the savings when they come later on but that's not my desire to start so not going to stop me from getting started. I don't know why but I can't get into the idea of the single stage press, maybe if I was in front of one I'd change my mind, but with what I've seen online it's not something I'd be interested in.
  11. Hey, I am looking into getting into reloading, mostly for 12 gauge, 45 acp and 5.56 / .223. I've looked into the various presses a little and unless someone has some good reasons, was thinking of going with the Lee Load All 2 for 12 gauge. As for long gun / hand gun ammo I actually can't find a good answer to my question anywhere, seems to be one of those things everyone leaves off because they assume "everyone knows" it already. If I got a progressive reloading press (Don't really like all the work involved with a single stage press), will that cover every handgun and rifle ammo so long as I buy the individual dies? Or does each press have some built in limitation? Although those are the ones I would probably use the most, I do have use for 30-30, 40 S&W and 38 Special as well and would like the option at some point down the road. As for a starting press, would the Hornady Lock N Load be good enough or will I quickly wish I'd bought a more expensive one like the Dillon Precision? I am not looking to make competiition rounds or even anything straight out of the book. This is more a hobby / for fun and just wanting to make my own ammo / reuse my range brass.
  12. Love the look of those, can't find anything with picatinny rails yet, but will keep looking.
  13. Yeah I've been considering something like that, but man are those things pricey for the size of them.
  14. Just ordered a Panzer Arms BP12 a few days ago from Palmetto and it comes with the same Tippman plastic sights that they give away on their AR15s, which I just really don't like. Picture attached. Not really sure what type of sights to go with for something like this, I used to own a Benneli semi auto shotgun 15+ years ago, but otherwise have never used a semiauto shotgun, let alone a bullpup one that's more or less designed like a rifle. Any recommendations on good sights for it? It has picatinny rails and most of the shotgun specific sights don't seem to be made for them.
  15. This is perfect, a friend is coming up from FL too so going to give them a call tomorrow. I saw their facebook page but it doesn't really say much.
  16. Can you PM me? I can only reply to PMs, can't send them myself yet.
  17. Thank you very much. I'd found Charlie Haffner and Maury County Gun Club online, but those other two I'll check out as well.
  18. Was it a 4 digit serial (Or rather factory assembly number)? Mine is printed in two locations, same number, once on the underside of the barrel and again underneath the grip, I think that part is called the butt? Then there is a separate 4 digit number on the crane when you move back the ejector rod, I assumed that one was the assemply number as it only shows once and the other twice. Either way they are both 4 digit numeric nubers numbers.
  19. I've got a 9500 dual fuel, only needed it once to keep chest freezer running during a 12 hour power outage. Normally 12 hours wouldn't be that bad even with it not plugged in but I had just loaded it with some meat that needed to freeze, so wanted it running for sure.
  20. Well at this point it won't let me upload even one photo, hopefully this is just a new user restriction...
  21. I bought this from a friend about 20 years ago. It's a Smith & Wesson 38 Special that was originally blued steel. When he sold it to me it was effectively a block of rust and it took me days to get it cleaned off (hence no more blue) and functioning again. It works fantastic since. About 15 years ago I tried to identify it online and somehow came to the conclusion it was made between 1910 and 1912, but now have no idea about anything else or how I came to that idea either. It's main unique feature is it has a 4 digit, all numeric, serial number (which I think was what led me to the dating the first time around). Besides that it's just a solid 38 special double action. I have fond memories with it for sure, but it's not like it was handed down to me from my grandad or nothing, so if it turned out to be worth enough I'd consider selling it. Just don't want to waste time trying to sell it if it's not going to at least cover another revolver in it's place and enough extra for a little something more. No matter how much I try and compress these images I can't seem to get more than one attached to this post at a time, so will upload the remaining photos here one at a time I guess.
  22. Not sure if this is the area to post this in but couldn't find anything else fitting. I'm looking for a good range to visit, I like to shoot handguns, rifles and shotguns (but not skeet). I'd also like to start taking my son out to start on my old 10/22. He's 7, so don't know if ranges have specific rules like a minimum age, etc. I'm all for a membership, but would like to try the range first before commiting to a year membership and every one I've found so far seems to not have a day pass option. I'm in southern Spring Hill, almost to Columbia so closer to that is better. Would go up as north as Nashville on weekends as I usually take my older son up to the comic stores near there anyways. Anyone know of any good ones?
