#6 for the year and I'm done. Gonna try and get my boy on his first during the juvenile hunt or maybe before. Shot this doe with a 6.8SPCII. Stag Model 5 upper with a lower I built from PSA parts and Magpul furniture.

Killed 3 does and a 9 point on the muzzleloader and a 7 point and this doe during rifle. Been a great season, I've seen more deer and passed more deer than I ever have.

  2. Dropped another doe about 7 this morning. Saw a very nice buck cross the gas line about 350 yards away and head into the hollow where I saw the big buck yesterday while dragging my 9 point out. I gotta get me a stand set up in there before rifle starts.

  3. Killed 2 does opening morning for the freezer, so I was looking for horns this morning. Had 4 does come behind me about 25 yards in some thick brush and kept hearing a buck chasing and grunting every few steps. Never could see him. About 930 this 9 point came out the ridge to my left, found an opening about 30 yards away and when he came into it, I unloaded on him.

Both deer last week where bang flops in the 4 wheeler trail. I paid for that today. He ran straight to the bottom of the ridge and died in the creek. It was either drag 150 yards straight up or about 4-500 yards down the creek, I chose the latter. I did jump a monster up out of the bottom dragging him out, one of the best deer I've ever seen while hunting. I know where I'll be come rifle season.

  4. I've been shooting a smokeless muzzloader since 2008, but I've got an old Knight Wolverine that I use as a backup/loaner gun. I've been thinking about switching it to Blackhorn. All the reviews I've seen seem to say it's a lot cleaner than 777/Pyrodex. Look forward to hearing yalls experiences also.
  5. Good looking guns guys!

My hunting guns are from left to right: 1981 Marlin 336 in 35Rem with Vortex 1.75-5x32, Remington Model Seven 7mm-08 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmaster, Savage model 10 .308win 3-9×40 Vortex Viper and 6.8 SPCII AR15 3-9×40 Nikon Prostaff BDC.

But my absolute favorite is my Savage smokeless 50cal muzzleloader. Shooting 44gr of AA5744 over a black MMP sabot and a 300gr Hornady XTP. Killed 5 with it last year.
