    11/87 - Picky eater

Make sure you have all the parts,I bought a used 1187 that would not fire more than 1 shot,I tried all brand of ammo light load heavy load nothing would work, replaced recoil spring ,seal, piston, gas cylinder spring ,all to get nowhere.Than one day i pulled up a schematic and figured out one part was not in my gun,is the gas cylinder collar it goes over the magazine after the barrel as been inserted in to the receiver, then you have the forehand and finally the magazine cap.I see how easy would be to forget to replace it after a cleaning .If you decide to look at a schematic be sure you have the one for the 1187,not 1100 or 870,these gun do not use that part. Remingtoncountrystore.com has a clear photo of the part i am referring to again be sure you are looking at the 1187 page. Sorry for being so long winded. Danny.
  2. I too think this $ 5.00 parking fee was the brainchild of the Dean administration. I will make sure to vote against him in as a mayor in the coming election ,and for the fairground to stay in business in his current location. As far as the dealer ,he was just trying to pull water to his own well it's normal it is up to the customer to know what is the value of his trade, obviously you did.
  3. Google poor man AK bending jig ,is all material ready available. If you have the press you will be OK i did mine without it and it was slightly more complex. Also without the press I had to freeze the barrel and heat the trunion in order to have the two pieces mate.

  5. I an allmost sure some of this customization could land you in a tight spot with the BATF
  6. With a standars front site it will shoot about a foot high at 100'. My guess you are shooting over the target. The simplest way to have a higher front site is to slip a piece of wire insulation over it.
  7. I was allways cheesed off by not having a knife sharp enogh for the job ,making it harder to do.now i use a box knife new blade every time ,no more dull blade.I know I should learn to sharpen my knife but is not for lack of trying ,Ido not seem to get it right . Danny
  8. I do not know if are aware of it ,Charlie has represented the USA abroad as a part of the USA international shooting team, and his late father stil has unbeaten black powder shooting record that have stood for decades. Danny.
  9. Not only Midway give you discount ,also Brownells, Graff & Sons and probably more dealers. In a market rather flat, meaning nothing new is coming out that is the real value of having a C&R license.
  10. Rumanian T 33 ,great for small hands.Started shooting good first time I fired it. Danny
  11. ke any other hobby you will wind up with a bunch of equipment and supplys costing quite a bit,but for the money you will have invested you will get to shoot a lot more.
  12. If you look at the Brownells web site the have a how to section ,I have done an italian colt replica and it turned our very good. Danny
