Mrs. DaddyO texted me just a while ago and said I better stop on the way home and fill up if I can. It's crazy in Williamson County.

Anyone been called this before?
I was debating with someone about the recent riots and I was defending the police. The guy called me a "disgrace to humanity" and a "racist ammosexual" that should get it out of my system and just say the word "nig$er."
I was offended because anyone that truly knows me knows that I have done a lot for impoverished communities in all places I've lived and also I worked in the "black" music industry for almost a decade.
This guy is the worst kind of liberal. The militant kind. This is no different or worse than being called a "homophobe" because one doesn't believe that same sex marriage is legitimate. Name calling is name calling, no matter what you believe. Suck it up and move on.

Situations not really comparable IMO.
- It is unlawful to carry a loaded firearm in public in TN. Most can pay for the privilege to carry a handgun openly or concealed. It is unlawful to carry a loaded long gun in public in TN period.
- In TX, most can pay for the privilege to carry a handgun, but concealed only. They wanted unlicensed open carry of handguns. Since it is not unlawful there to carry loaded long guns in public, they used that to highlight the issue.

You get my point.

Except, at least to my understanding, they still won't be able to carry in Chipotle's as their antics lead to those stores being posted against carry of any type, even in states where open or concealed carry was already legal. Please correct me if I am wrong about that..
They did not post. Neither did Target or Chili's. They issued a public request that people not carry openly in their stores, and the only purpose it served was to shut the Xanax mommies up. You can still carry in all of those places.

Maybe this should be a multiple choice question.
A. Because they didn't realize that there is a difference between raising awareness for a cause and looking like radical idiots
B. Because they actually believed that carrying an AR where someone was just trying to eat a burrito with their family would win public sympathy for their cause
C. Because those long guns look so cool when you pose for a picture in a fast food joint wearing your sunglasses (indoors) or your 'tactical' boonie hat
D. All of the above
As for park carry in the 'vicinity' of school related functions, I suggest that a firearm that no one knows is there (carried concealed) is unlikely to cause any grief or legal troubles for someone who unknowingly wanders into such 'vicinity'.
Since open carry of handguns is already legal in TN, there is no need to carry long guns to protest. Besides, not a single person was killed or injured by lawful gun owners during the OCT protests that I am aware of.
Looks like their protests achieved the objective, because the state legislators and the governor listened and legalized open carry of handguns.
-
That has been on my mind also. Some DS's like the ones in Texas that kept carrying their AR's into restaurants. They are way past STUPID!
Do you have any understanding of why OCT was carrying long guns?

They said the same about Frodo and Sam.... turned out there was nothing to it.

As far as not deciding whether or not one is gay, there's this:

Closing on first full day of Park Carry, anyone done a google search to see if any shootouts in TN Parks?
Yes, and not a single one of them involved a law-abiding gun owner being irresponsible or criminal.
-
Yes, his choice, but just the fact that it takes someone so long to decide that they're LGBT makes it suspect.
-
I wonder if there is enough wiggle room to let a judge set this aside as "Unconstitutionally vague"?
One would think they learned their lesson with the first "guns in bars" bill that was overturned until it was rewritten and passed into law a second time. I truly hope they aren't THAT stupid.

Brienne is probably my favorite character right now, but I am afraid that she will die an untimely and violent death before the series runs its course.

1. No, what's troublesome to you is that someone called you on your bull ####.
2. Again, the "simple" questions you asked in Post # 8 were answered by watching the video. The backstory facts really had nothing to do with the questions that you asked, having watched the video.
They had to do with a weird, passive-aggressive agenda. Bringing up Open Carry vs Police with this incident? "Snuffed out by police?" Really?
Mods...don't close this thread on my account. I'm done here.
And you're the only one here who's losing his mind over it. Get up and walk away from the computer and calm down.
"Not now, Mom! Someone on the Internet is WRONG!" -
Oh.my.
-
Aware of what? You watched the video. That's all you needed. That's why I phrased it, "without even knowing the backstory." Yet, you still posted your silliness in Post # 8.
And, what mistakes of mine am I ignoring?
There is plenty of anti-police fodder out there for you, especially lately, to play with. Agreed. I referenced that in Post # 29.
Yet, you had to reach on this one with that hearing impaired / criminal record / open carry crap?
If some asking a simple question and then admitting that he didn't have all the facts is enough to set you off, it's a little troublesome to me that you wear a badge. -
Devil's Advocate / daddyo, when you posted this, even without knowing the backstory, did you even watch the video? Rhetorical question, obviously you did.
1. Hearing impaired and unaware? There was was verbal interaction / visual contact with the police.
2. Criminal Record? Who cares? It doesn't matter.
3. Are you really going to make this one an OC vs police issue? Again, even without knowing the backstory, the man fired a round, on a public street, knowing he was being followed and confronted by police and the initial officer broadcasted that information before the "run over."
This has to be one of the most INANE posts that I've read in a long time.
PS. Reading your TGO Sig Line...
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst.
Nations and peoples who forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.
Robert Heinlein
...sigh.
Did you even bother to see that I responded by admitting that I was not aware of that? Do I need to issue a public apology? Would that make you feel better?
I guess some folks just aren't happy unless they're beating someone else over the head while ignoring their own mistakes.

Isn't it better to carry a poorly concealed firearm than go unarmed?
Who said anything about unarmed? I just think he could've done a better job at concealment if that's what he was trying to do.

What I want to know is where to buy one of those automobiles that have no turn signals. It's silly to pay for something you never use.....

I was eating at lunch on the way to the NRA convention and saw a guy and wife carrying. The wife wasn't trying to hide her Glock in the 45° cant Uncle Mike's holster. The husband was attempting to conceal his under a tight fitting t shirt, wasn't working for him though. Comical sight at best.
Saw a guy carrying exactly like that at the Cool Springs Five Guys one day. Don't understand why someone would carry that way.

I think he had stolen the rifle and had fired at least one round into the sky as a sort of intimidation tactic. He was asking for trouble of some sort.
From the article the Devil's Advocate did not read:
Tucson Police Sgt. Pete Dugan told CNN that Valencia was involved in several incidents in Tucson the day he was struck.
At 6:45 a.m., Valencia robbed a 7-Eleven in Tucson with a metal object in his hand. Authorities said he was dressed only in his underwear. He was charged with theft.
A little more than an hour later, police said, Valencia set a fire at a church for which he was charged with arson of an occupied structure.
Just after that he entered a home and stole a car, police said.
Authorities said he drove to a Walmart where he stole a .30-30 rifle and ammunition. He fled the store with Walmart employees in pursuit.
Didn't know that. Thanks.

I also have the 530. It's one of my favorite blades because of the weight and slim profile. The 154CM blade steel is more than adequate for any EDC task.
-
Devil's advocate here....
What if the guy was hearing impaired and was unaware of what was going on behind him?
Did he have a criminal record?Seems to me that this plays right into the anti-gun crowd's hands. They believe that ANYONE openly carrying a weapon should be run over or otherwise snuffed out by police regardless of any credible evidence that a crime is about to be committed, because we're all just about to snap at any moment and start indiscriminately killing people.

Yeah I loved all the outrage over TWDs gayness and then everyone loves GoT LOL
It's not like GoT went for 5 seasons before including gay love scenes. I'm not a fan of those, but I know they're part of the package, just like I now know that they're part of the package in TWD. Don't care for it, but it's not going to keep me from watching it. What I find fascinating is all the ridicule of folks who hold the same opinion, and I'm not the only one.
Ah, but what do I know? I'm just an fat, old, white, redneck who has a natural revulsion to homosexuality and I don't apologize one bit for it. :usa:

The great thing about GoT is that you can watch it On Demand and FF through all that nonsense.
