  1. Well my birthday is in March. So you better believe I'll be buying one. Now I just gotta figure out what's good. My knowledge of AR's is kinda slim. Oh well. Time for some research......

  2. GoVols:

This is the first instance that I can recall hearing of one of the current Comp-Tac clips cracking. Is the cracking occurring at the very tip of the clip or along the side of the clip?

I would suggest two things. One is to get the replacement clip under their warranty. Two - is it possible that you can move the particular clip that is cracked up one hole and still have the same comfort/access to your gun? It might be enough to take the pressure off the new clip and keep it from doing the same thing. Another thought might be to grind down the tip of the clip, where the cracking occurred, as this might take the pressure off as well.

Yep it's cracking slightly at the very end of one of the clips. Yeah I called them and they can send replacements free b/c of warranty. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

The new clips aren't kydex and won't crack. I've bent the living hell out of them and no damage. If you've got kydex clips and you just purchased it direct from Comp-Tac within the past two months, someone down there screwed up and sent you old product.

Well I purchased it direct at beginning of September. You know I just checked and while the website say kydex on the MTAC product details page, the actual page for re-ordering the standard clips say they are some new polymer design. So I do have the new clips that I guess are not kydex but some other polymer stuff.

  3. Absolutly get rid of the stupid opt-out option. I just moved to TN (in July) and knowing where I can or can't carry is beyond possible! Especially when nobody posts signs like they are supposed to. (traveled thru chattanooga while back and applebees had a tiny sign at the entrance that said "no guns allowed, no matter what the law says" and I didn't see it until on the way out.)

My true logic behind removing the opt-out option was summed up by three above posts:

Don't allow opt out by any government entities below the State level. The State shouldn't grant the right to other governmental groups to determine when and where our Constitutional rights can be abridged.
I would suggest they make it illegal for restaurants, cities, and counties to opt out where state law allows. It's asinine.
... GA & KY don't allow businesses to opt out. Why should we?....
  4. So I purchased a Minotaur MTAC IWB holster from CompTac about a month ago. I found that attaching the two plastic/kydex like clips using the bottom hole allow the gun to sit lower and is more comfortable. Downside... I am now getting a crack on one of the plastic/kydex like clips on the bottom. I know it has to be because of the bending forces on the bottom of the belt clip whenever I sit down.

I can't figure out whether I should get a new clip under warranty or just return the thing and get my money back because I am afraid that it'll do it again.

You guys who have used these before...what do you think I oughta do?Return it or give it another try with new clips under warranty? If I return it I prolly will buy the Crossbreed Supertuck and give it a try at least it has metal clips.

  5. ...

Anyway, more importantly, I would like to thank Todd and Dustin for letting me take this class. I was laid-off from my job last thursday. I called Todd to cancel after I got the news. Todd called me friday and told me to take the class anyway. (I have taken the Defensive Pistol class and the Advanced Conceal Carry class twice.) He told me I was a good customer and to just show up - it was on them!....

Thats really awesome. :D for Todd & Dustin for doing that. I've only been on TGO since August 09 and seeing how members help each other out is awesome. (of course from the character of these guys whether Bersa fan had been a member of TGO or not I bet Todd/Dustin would have done the same... sounds like first class guys!)

Been looking to take a course sometime in the near future and will have to look these guys up when my schedule clears.

  6. Just got back from Wal-Mart in Morristown. It's got a handful of 40 S&W FMJ White Box at 16.97 box of 50. Also 40 S&W Federal 3 or 4 boxes at 14.47 a box of 50. They have a few boxes of 9mm 50rd White Box for 12.47 and a few boxes of 9mm Federal 50rd for 9.97/box.

I walked away with 3 boxes of 9mm federal and 1 box (last one) of 9mm hollowpoints and 1 box federal 40 S&W. At least I don't have to hunt around anymore. Wife and I can finally go shootin.... :ignore:

  7. i am very glad that i have never had to use my weapons to defend myself or my family but am always carrying and very glad to have them with me. i know there are alot of people on here and just wondering if anyone has a story or time when they actually needed their carry piece.

bump - As the OP said, I too would like to hear stories of when you guys/gals needed your carry piece.

    Thanks

(and may God bless us so we never have to use it, but we'll be ready just in case!)
