My wife is taking a law school entrance test on UT's campus on Saturday morning and we are looking for a good place to stay around the N. Peters area on Friday night. We don't know the area well but heard that was a pretty nice place and fairly safe.
Any suggestions on good places to stay??? Not looking for an expensive place.
Thanks in advance!

...I was spooked last week when two guys came up the driveway wanting to put signs in the yard advertising their home protection company. That didn't bother me so much at the time. I later learned from my girl friend that her uncle had a couple of guys make the same offer to him up near Bristol. A few days later his house was burgled. When I asked her what sign was put in his yard it was the same company that stopped by our place. Still on alert....
Thats kinda freaky...

As I mentioned, round capacity is the big trade off....if you're comfy with 6+1, then no worries. I wasn't, because of where I live and my lifestyle, so that's why I'm not relying on my Ruger revolver or Kahr PM9 daily.

I second that. Thin gun verses larger gun...as stated it's usually a trade off with either round capacity or caliber that suffers. I have a thin gun (Kel-Tec P3AT .380) for light carry days and my normal carry - the XD40SC.

XD40 Subcompact is one of my favorite carry guns. the above post by tnvolfan describes my reasons all to well. Bought mine new and it came with a gun, regular mag, extended mag, holster, and a speed loader, gun lock, cleaner, and case. Shop around... I found a good deal at my local shop but I searched all over from Knoxville to Chatanooga. I know you can find it in your price range. I also liked the Glock 27 but went for the XD40SC b/c of all the stuff it came with and the numerous awards it has won recently. Try'em both.

Wow maybe I need to create a bug out bag. I have places where these things are but never put them together as if I needed to leave asap. Hmmm. Kinda cool. How many of you have these packs?

I was parked in the circle drive at a hospital and the security guy came out and asked me if I was carrying.....I said why of course. He said good or something like that. He was carrying a purse for some reason.
hmmm...ok? hahaha

Nice article. The research is there...if people would take the blinders off.
Thanks for the info.

.22 bolt action for sure. Safer to teach/train and is easier to train for great shot focus to make every shot count as mentioned above.
Have fun!

So I had the hardest time myself choosing between the Glock 26 and XD9SubCompact. Both are very similar and the ones I shot seemed to be pretty sweet. What swayed me (i ended up going up to the 40 cal. instead of the 9mm but the same statements apply to the 9mm's) was that the XD came with a regular magazine and a higher capacity mag, a holster, and a speedloader. The glock didnt quite have all that. Also the XD has a small metal pin on the rear that lets you know if it's cocked or not AND in addition it has a tab on the top of the gun that lets you know wether or not a round is in the chamber (the tab pops up). So I liked that and my wife did too. She could immedialty pick up the gun and know whether it was cocked and one loaded in chamber.
Just my two cents.
Either would be excellent.
Have fun shopping!

I agree...cancel for sure...that's horrible customer service...that's ridiculous.
I entered a gun store in east tennessee (wont say where) and the guys behind the counter were a real pain to even try and ask them a question. I had been to two other stores that day, asked questions, and made requests and they all had excellent customer service. These "good ole boy" 'tards at this one store will never, ever get my business. Which is actually quite a LOT of business as of lately!
Anyway... don't waste your time with them anymore.
Good luck with it!!!!

I haven't OC yet. Been carrying CC for years. I like being CC so I can be sneaky and incognito and hopefuly so I can defend myself/others with more options.
I have a buddy who retired from Kansas City PD and he loves to carry OC because he feels that it deters events from occuring around him when people see it. Hmmm....

Well I am a new member and live in Tazewell, TN. I've been watching the site for some time and decided to finally join. Anyone from the Tazewell / Harrogate area post and let me know or PM me.
Thanks,
