Check your rest. That load should shoot.

The ATF will throw your butt in jail if you reload ammo and sell it without obtaining the proper licenses, etc. There is a federal excise tax on ammo.

That was nice of you to give the .38 hulls away. Used to be you could find tons of them at the range. Now it is rare to see one. Plenty of 9mm's though....

Your best place is going to be thru a shooting club. I was buying some in Chattanooga for about $30/bag but it was up to $35 last weekend when I was down there.

I don't put a scope on without using one. After using one once you will really realize how off center/turned the rings are. It has eliminated any scope marks, too. I use the sinclair kit.

I got some a little while back but haven't used it.

A month or so ago I was in San Diego. A box of 50 Federal American Eagle .45 230 Gr. Ball was $38 and a box of 50 Federal American Eagle .38 130 Grain Ball was $27. Between casting and loading my own a box of similar .45's is probably $2 or at the most $3 per 100.

When setting your measure for small charges you will pull your hair out trying to get every charge exactly the change. Do yourself a favor and set your powder measure based on the average of 10 throws. 10 throws should be, in your case, 640 grains. If you get anywhere between 639 grains or 641 grains, set the measure and go. Less stress. More loading and shooting. You will not notice the difference in a load being off by 0.1 or 0.2 grains. If you are concerned you will have problems with that degree of charge variation then you don't need to be shooting that load (or reloading) anyway.
