  1. I didn't much care for the beretta 92F's..those are the only models I've shot, back in my military days.  I must confess though, that I trained on the 1911 and used it in combat so I'm a bit biased.
It's also interesting to note that the marines just spent 22.5 million bucks to go BACK to the 1911, but that's another story.

Like Hipower, I didn't like the ergonomics of the pistol...it didn't feel right to me. As I said, I AM biased though.

My browning hi power mkIII, though..it still shoots as good today as it did the day I bought it. it has been my constant companion for many years and my oldest and truest friend.  I won't be giving it up, nor my 1911.
If you kind folks are willing to indulge me, I am a follower of Saint Browning.

  2. http://www.fireandreamitchell.com/2013/03/20/new-yorkers-now-being-given-500-rewards-if-they-report-gun-owners-to-law-enforcement/

Apparently, the NY state is giving a 500 dollar reward for anyone who owns firearms.  I had some time to kill so I called the number

1-855-GUNSNYS and reported myself.  A lady answered the phone and here's how it went:

    Lady: guns new york

Me: Yes ma'am, I'd like to report a man that owns a gun...

Lady: is it an illegal gun?

me: well, I didn't see it's passport or student visa, if that's what you're asking..

lady: I don't understand, do you want to report someone that owns a gun?

Me: yes ma'am- ME, MY name is Elliott and I own at least 30 of em!! I live in the free state of Tennessee..come get me!

she hung up the phone. dang, she blew a sure fire bust right there..

If you've got some time, give that nice lady a call, I'm sure she's not doing anything and you can make her feel like she's actually working for her paycheck.

  3. Keep in mind folks. Ishel is wanting to reload for AN M1 GARAND- you can't hot load those rounds unless you want your gas tube to go flying off into the yonder regions along with your bullet.

As I happen to have a garand, I know a remedy to this. if you're going to shoot ANY reloads, I highly reccommend using an adjustable gas plug (can be had from midway usa for about 35.00) so that you can adjust  your gas tube to the load you're shooting.

I hope this is something that helps you Ishel.

  4. Phantom 6 just sent me this link. he spoke to someone to verify it..it's legit, folks.

Apparently our more liberal governments feel that the 4th amendment doesn't apply anymore.

    http://deloc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8175

the synopsis of the link is this: A guy gets a call that the police and family services are at his house, IN his house and want him to come home and open his safe to verify all his guns are there and registered. No warrant, no nothing, because he posted a pic of his kid holding a 22 caliber ar style rifle.
the DFS female that accompanies the officers refuses to give her name, allow a photo or anything...

  5. guys, Cyprus is broke. heck, half the EU is broke. about the only countries with any money in the EU are a few Norse countries and France and Germany. France and Germany are carrying the rest of em and they want their money back.

This is what happens when socialism is adopted in a free market economy.

Can it happen here? Yes. Will it happen here? probably.   If you have a retirement account, I suggest you find some way to buy it out and then offshore it. I myself don't have one.
What I DO have is a lot of silver now.

  6. This is a special notice to warn you of impending new gun regulation. The ATF has proposed to require gun dealers to provide directly to the ATF the names, addresses, and serial numbers for every purchase of two or more semi auto, mag fed rifles within a five day period!! They are trying to force this in by January 5th, without any approval from Congress, calling it a needed "emergency" regulation. This is backdoor registration of guns and gunowners. Here is a quote from the notice by the NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) regarding this burdensome and illegal move:

"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is moving to require federally licensed firearms retailers to report multiple sales of modern sporting rifles beginning January 5, 2011. Specifically, the ATF requirement calls for firearms retailers to report multiple sales, or other dispositions, of two or more .22 caliber or larger semi-automatic rifles that are capable of accepting a detachable magazine and are purchased by the same individual within five consecutive business days."

We are encouraging everyone to contact the relevant officials to protest this move. The office that approves regulation changes like this that bypass Congress is the Office of Information and Regulation affairs of the DOJ and they can be reached at 202-395-6466. You can call your Senator and Representative at the US Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.

The NSSF offers the following points to make when calling

    1. "Multiple sales reporting of long guns will actually make it more difficult for licensed retailers to help law enforcement as traffickers modify their illegal schemes to circumvent the reporting requirement. Traffickers will go further underground, hiring more people to buy their firearms. This will make it much harder for retailers to identify and report suspicious behavior to law enforcement."
    2. "Long guns are rarely used in crime (Bureau of Justice Statistics)."
    3. "Imposing multiple sales-reporting requirements for long guns would further add to the already extensive paperwork and record-keeping requirements burdening America’s retailers – where a single mistake could cost them their license and even land them in jail."
    4. "Last year, ATF inspected 2,000 retailers in border states and only two licenses were revoked (0.1%). These revocations were for reasons unknown and could have had nothing to do with illicit trafficking of guns; furthermore, no dealers were charged with any criminal wrongdoing."
    5. "According to ATF, the average age of a firearm recovered in the United States is 11 years old. In Mexico it’s more than 14 years old. This demonstrates that criminals are not using new guns bought from retailers in the states."
    6. "Congress, when it enacted multiple sales reporting for handguns, could have required multiple sales of long guns – it specifically chose not to."

  7. I'm a teddy bear at heart too..but not when someone is pointing a lethal weapon at me and making noises like they're going to use it.

another question. was this guy the proprietor of the place? was he someone in charge?

he had no justification for drawing a firearm. You should prosecute this guy and make sure he sees jail time.

  8. There are some subtle differences in a few of the groups, but the EMO kids are definitely the ones with the make-up, hair, and "woe is me" attitude. When I was in school we had "skaters" "goths" "preppies" and so forth. I was, for a while, a skater kid. Basically I wore Airwalk shoes, JNCO jeans, and band t-shirts and hoodies for about 2 years and had an earring. That wasn't a lifestyle for me though it was just how I dressed sometimes. I still had ZERO problem throwing on the Wranglers, boots, and jumping into the truck to go fishing lol

yeah, I posed as a poor kid when I went to school... handmedown jeans and a white tee shirt most times..or an old jacket over that when it was cold.

  9. There may be some young single guys here who would show Sara the ins and outs of guns and shooting sports. One can do many interviews, but unless hands on is experienced, words may not be surficient. So don't run her off so quickly.

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH NO!

  10. Historically, we've always been Mexico's "big brother" after the past late unpleasantness about land and such (they started that, btw, we just took advantage of their stupidity).

While this normally hasn't been a problem, the more countryside that the government loses control over, the more the drug cartels take.

they prey upon both Mexicans and Americans alike.

I don't advocate annexation or invasion...that would be imperialism and we're not imperialists, no matter what the lefties say...if we were, Europe would be a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of North America.

I say help the mexican government, within reason. clamp down on our border and stop illegal immigrants from getting through...secure the border first and at the same time, deport illegals.

THEN adjust our immigration quotas to reflect our need.

and get rid of the anchor babies.

amend the constitution to reflect that.

  11. I know how you feel DS, I have family that are like that as well..I find that I'm always happier when I'm at least 200 miles away from them. For the record, I live about 20 miles away from one of my brothers. he's a great guy!

a few others in the family? meh..wouldn't trust them with my finger nail clippings.

  12. Indeed we do NOT want to contribute.

    why?

because all too often our contributions turn out to be the contributions of the one writing the story.

hey. don't blame us, I mean, it's not like we've never had our characters assassinated by journalists before, or had our statements or points of view taken out of context before, now is it?

    and yes, it IS absurd.

oxymoron- Objective and reporter in the same sentence.
