  1. I looked at the places there, I am not a member of any of the membership places. I have been trying to find someone to sponsor me at the Oak Ridge facility as I live in Clinton..? I do not mind jumping through hoops, but I guess step one (membership) will be the toughest.

Why not just buy from the CMP? It's not difficult to become a member and you can be sure, depending on grade, that your Garand will have met certain condition requirements. And if you receive a rifle from the CMP and there is a part damaged or too worn they are good about making it right.

As for the Garand from AIM, if I was going to spend $1K on one I would go with a Correct Grade from CMP. All the parts would be USGI (no Boyd's aftermarket stock) and it would be in excellent, if not like new condition. The barrel on my HRA Correct Grade from CMP gauged a zero at both ends, indicating it was nearly unused. Not all of 'em will be that good (I handpicked mine at the South Store in Anniston, AL) but they'll be close.

  2. I have my C&R and have an Enfield and Mosin and SKS and have been wanting a Garand for a while. I have linked a couple below, but am not certain if they are good deals or not. I am no expert and have read a great deal, but still am green about them. I do not necessarily need it as a collectors gun, as they are hard to come by. But the two linked below seem to be CMP type deals for the SA.

Not certain about the one on Gunbroker, as he states put a CMP stock on it, then states it is a CMP gun.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.

  3. I have a laminated stock Russian TULA that I picked up from the last gun show from T&G. I was watching some vids on the youtube of sks and noticed some had a different look using some aftermarket stocks. Any of you guys have experience with these? I looked some up, there are some hunting looking ones and some tactical looking ones. They say no gunsmithing, but just checking to see if any of you had used any?

    thanks.

  4. My 2005 Silverado I just purchased, seems to have a ticking/knocking noise, even when warmed up. The idle is also a bit fluttery. I have had it at Fox Chevrolet twice. They updated my PCM, and this last time put some Lucas Oil treatment in it. Still exists. Perhaps someone else, an honest and capable mechanic can listen to the noise and know what it is, if it something to worry about etc. Thank you for your help.

  5. THey have an AK, bull dog bag, 4 magazines (30), sling for 399? Not sure if that is a good deal or not? I guess they do not have chrome lined barrels.

Currently I have a Sar-1, a SGL-21 and a Saiga. The only difference between them is the "finish". All of them are minute of man accurate, and fun as hell. :D.

Start with a Wasr - but make sure to get a 10/63 vs a 10. The 10's were designed as low cap single stack and century arms opened up the magwells for a traditional AK mag, hence the quality issue with mag wobble. My sar-1 was the century arms import before the wasrs, and it handles just fine.

  6. Been looking and have not seen this kind of price yet?

I am kinda thinking about getting a 7.62 as well. I saw somebody on TGO mention a Saiga 7.62. It seems like for the money, you cannot beat them. They are not a true AK, as in they do not accept AK parts, but they have the same design. For something to just shoot 7.62, they seem like a good option. I did a quick price search and found a new one on gunbroker for $329. Chrome barrel, synthetic stock, descent reviews. Could be worth having.
  7. Is 1175.00 shipped for the m4 carbine a good deal?

Daniel Defense make one of the nicest out of the box rifles out there to date, IMO.

I own one of their M4's with the 12" omega x rail on it and it is spectacular.

  8. If you have an AR you'll want to get an AK.

If you have an AK you'll want to get an AR.

Is the Daniel Defense M4 Carbine a good one? Or is that too much money to spend on one? It comes with a nice rail system, butt stock, flared magazine receiver...and a hand grip.

  9. thanks for the comments so far... Of the ARs I have looked at, the Daniel Defense M4 Carbine looks to be a pretty good rifle with several great reviews. Price is 1175 shipped. There are so many variant my head is spinning...i see big names like Colt, and Bushmaster, Armalite...big money for those also...but what about Rock River Arms? SigSauer?

Is this the gun you are speaking of for the AK Variant?

How do these stack up against the Polish Milled 1960s from Classic Arms for 599?

Thanks again so much. I am also needing some help soon to teach me how to sight the gun properly..at Norris maybe. Thanks again.

  10. Hello,

Started my collections with C&R items and some handguns. I have been researching about ARs and AKs. The ARs are more money for a quality piece (was looking at a Daniel Design) than an AK (Saiga).

Is one better than the other? What is cheaper to shoot? More accurate? I like the tactical functions of the ARs but have seen some AKs have that as well...

Just trying to get a feel for an AR15 for 1200 bux vs an AK for 700 bux.

    Thank you!
