I've taken the majority of the curriculum out there. I can't recommend their force on force class or immediate action medical class enough.
Immediate action medical is likely the next class I'll take there; good to know you recommend it!
I really also want to do at least one or perhaps all of their force on force classes too; just can't do it all at once. :)

I can't help but wonder...for those of you who are having a problem with this and think that "allowing" homosexuals to be in the BSA is somehow changing or compromising "morals", do you let homosexuals into your church or do you forbid them from entering there too? Do you let them in but make them sit in a special section so they can't spread homosexuality?
Are homosexuals unable to believe in a "god"?
Really, folks...if you want to exclude people who have or may have, in your opinion, immoral proclivities then you might as well close the damn doors to your church because not a SINGLE ONE OF YOU would qualify to go inside.

they truly are an elusive critter, huh? only thing I ever learned about hunting snipe is that they apparently fit in that sack you mentioned, otherwise I could have walked right past a dozen of them.
Well...they probably wouldn't taste very good anyway.
Just like clay pigeons...you can boil those things for hours on end and they still taste like dirt. ;)

In this country the vast majority of Scouts, Scout leaders & Scout Troop's host organizations are followers of the Christian faith.

When you take an oath to "god" you have the god of a specific belief system in mind; when another person takes the same oath, they may be pledging to "god" of an entirely different belief system.
Sure, I'd agree that in the U.S. the "god" being referred to has been assumed to be based in Christianity...and the assumption was probably correct. That does not mean, however, that the BSA is either a "Christian" organization or any kind of religious one...about you can say with certainty is that the BSA at least acknowledges a belief in a supreme being.This country may well be going to Hell but probably not because of anything the BSA does or doesn't do.

For some reason, the BSA is convinced I'm an Eagle Scout (I wasn't but they think I am) and I was surveyed on this issue a few months ago as I'm sure many here were.
Frankly, I don't have a problem with "gay" boys being allowed in scouts...they were already there anyway. Improper sexual behavior is improper sexual behavior regardless of what sex or sexes are involved and sexual "anything" really has no place in scouts in any event.
Gay boys can benefit from learning how to pitch a tent, use a compass, build a camp fire and tie a knot just like any straight boy can.
I think some here are turning this into a "sexual" issue and it simply isn't...not allowing gay boys into scouts simply because they are gay makes about as much sense as not allowing children with red hair into scouts because they have red hair. Many seem to always want to make the leap from "being gay" to "having gay sex" one is simply not interchangeable with the other.

As I seem to recall, WalMart (and other licensed dealers) pay a little something called taxes on the money they get from selling merchandise. So these free market economy resellers need to be paying taxes as well. I am not sure if they are or aren't but I have my opinions on it. SO whenever anyone sees the need to buy from someone reselling at a scalper price, be sure and get their name and address to pass along to the IRS. Scalping is bad enough but cheating on taxes is unacceptable.
If you are talking about sales taxes, Walmarrt doesn't pay sales taxes; no retailer does. Every retailer's customers, including Walmart's customers, pay the sale taxes; retailers are just the state's unpaid collection agency.
In other words these "scalpers" as they have been called, have already paid the sales taxes when the bought the ammo.
If you want to make an argument that additional taxes are owed on the difference between what the scalper paid vs what they sell it for it I'm not sure I'd disagree but any additional taxes would actually be owed by the people buying the ammo from the scalpers and it would be up to those people to self-report and pay (just as it's up to TN residents to self-report and pay taxes on their online purchases when the seller doesn't collect from them at the point of sale as I'm sure we all do ;) ).
If you are talking about federal income tax; that's a whole other issue but before the pot starts calling the kettle black it might be worth taking the time for the pot o take a good long look in the mirror because anytime anyone sells something for more than they paid for it; whether it's a firearm or gear through TGO or a garage sale or anything else, they should be claiming that "profit" as income and paying income taxes on it. Now, anyone who is doing that; feel free to throw stones...anyone who isn't...

Not to hijack the thread but...while we are at it...is there an "optimum" range at which to sight in?
It seems to me that I've heard using 50 yrds and 100 yrds but I'm really not sure which is "better" or if either one is superior to the other.

Kirby makes a good vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, their sales tactics SUCK.
I had a similar experience a few years ago and in fact it's one the reasons why now, I NEVER open my door to anyone if I'm not expecting them or don't know them. Anyway, it took me a while to kick them out of my house too as these creeps just didn't understand the phrase "not interested".
What really pissed me off is, as with you, they lied about what they were doing...they presented themselves as just the "we'll clean one room of your carpet for free" rather than just tell me what they were really there for...I might actually have been receptive to buying a Kirby (I had one years ago but my ex got in in the divorce; like she ever knew how to use a vacuum cleaner! HA) but once I realized what they were really there for I had zero interest in one at that point.

I use auto trader to shop for new cars and trucks. Last time I was shopping for an 01 Durango with the 5.9 (in 03). This ride was for towing my boat and camping... I have an Accord for daily commuting. No dealer in Knoxville could or would help me. Found one in Nashville with 10K miles on the odo. Drove out there and bought it, then about 23K loaded. Driving home, I couldn't help but think about all those stupid car dealer commercials and how they wasted their money.
My next Dodge will have a Cummins. They are tow beasts and get 27-30 mpg.
FWIW, I don't buy a new ride until I need it, and when I buy I'll buy it broken in. Let some other idiot lose 5K driving it off the lot new. LOL I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan, so I pay myself a car payment to another bank account every month so I don't have to pay to use someone else's $$. Saves a TON of cash... for ammo!
You have to understand something; the staff at many, perhaps even most car dealerships have their heads firmly inserted up their nether regions.
I was once the proud owner of a 1976 Firebird TransAm 50th anniversary edition (this was the forerunner to the "Smoky and the Bandit) Black/Gold TransAm). There were less than 3,000 made (not enough for each Pontiac dealer to even get one) and less than 600 with the Hurst Hatch T-Tops (it was the fist car to ever come with a T-top). When I was thinking about buying a 1979 model to replace it, I had gone to the largest Pontiac dealer in Seattle to do a deal. However, when I went to have the trade-in appraised the I had two salesmen and the Sales Manager argue with me; claiming that Pontiac had "never made that car" and that I must have had it done myself which decreased the value of the car (which was exactly the opposite of what thet car was doing in the market at the time).
Needless to say...I was pissed. Not only that they would diss my car but that they would stand there and arguel with me about it.
I realize that it ws a somewhat rare car...I can understand that it was just a trick to not give me a fair price for my trade-in...I can understand taht these sales people may have never seen one...I can believe (somewhat) that they didn't realize Pontiac had made it But, what I found truly amazing is that there guys were so incredibly stupid to stand there and argue with me and piss me off!!!
Well; they didn't get to sell me a new TransAm...I went the next day to a much smaller dealership, ordered a new 1979 and did the deal with them.
The moral of the story is, while not universally true, you probaly can't overestimate the stupidity of most car sales staff/dealerships. :)

In your scenario the answer is no. With that said, I don't go to bars, nor am I ever a willing participant in any altercation. I'm always going to try to de-escalate or leave the situation if it at all possible(safe to do so). Zimmerman was walking away to go meet with police when he was confronted and assaulted by Martin according to his account. From the available info it seems as though he is telling the truth.

I'm not singling out any specific person here because maney of us argued at length about this case...the point is that the "opinions" about Zimmerman's guilt or innocence were formed a long time ago, sometimes on poor and/or highly filtered facts (from "news" sources with an obvious agenda) and sometime not but the point is, they are all just opinions and you are unlikely to change anyone's mind here; especially at this stage of the game.
Personally, I could easily see the situation where Zimmerman did absolutely nothing wrong, had completely disengaged and was then jumped, without cause, by the thug-want-a-be who with something to prove causing Zimemrman to need to defend his life. I base that in part on the initial decison by the DA as well as the facts (once news sources like PMSNBC got shamed into releasing the WHOLE 911 tape). At the same time, I could see Zimmerman completley in the wrong here and truly guilty of murder (or at least manslaughter).
All we do know for certain is that it takes two to fight...and one of the two is dead. I for one am glad that I'm not part of the group that has to figure it all out.-

I suppose my pessimism is a result of the 2012 election..."conservatives" have a one vote margin on SCOTUS depending on how the wind is blowing; Obama will almost certainly get a chance to change that and when that happens, any hope we might have is SCOTUS is on very shaky ground.
I hear you about the Senate but if there is one thing Democrats are good at it'd buying "Republican" votes with the taxpayer's money so I am not so sure that this treaty can't be ratified (not to mention, as I said, that whether "this" particular Senate does or not we have to remember that any subsequent Senate could do so).

I understand what you are saying/cautioning. At the same time, if someone is approaching me in an aggressive manner and with, perhaps any sort of weapon in his hands I see no reason why it would not be appropriate to draw your weapon. Ideally, he may have time to chance his mind...if he doesn't I wouldn't want to have to struggle to draw my weapon while he's close enough to start beating on me.

Back in my high school days, a routine after-school fight turned deadly. Punchee, feel into a hedge, a stick punctured his eye, into the brain, and he died. Puncher convicted and charged with involuntary man-slaughter. Someone already alluded to the soccer referee. Also recall the school principal/teacher that was punched breaking up a lunch room fight here in TN. Never regained consciousness and died. Point is: ANY blow to the head, either directly or indirectly (hitting ground, pavement, etc) may result in severe pain, disfigurement, brain damage, permanent loss of consciousness, or death. So as a result one can reasonably say they could fear such a result and resort to protecting themselves with deadly force. Sure, one must consider the whole situation, but the primary point was that of an unprovoked attack. I'm getting a little older now, I prefer my chances with the DA, given my mind-set.
mind-set: the last thing I want to do is shoot someone. Avoid, don't provoke, walk away, etc.
I would suggest that in a SD shooting in which we (the shooter) is charged and has to defend himself, what will ultimately make the difference is how well we and our attorney can articulate the facts as you did above...a picture has to be painted for the jury so that they can understand why a "'reasonable mam" like you felt you were facing death or serious bodily harm. Having records available from the training you've had can help a great deal too (and most reputable training organizations keep records of your classes and the course content; partially for that reason). You and your attorney has to be able to "undo" all the crap people believe about being shot for example (why did you shoot him 5 times with your 45ACP when they see Charles Bronson kill a guy with one shot from a .38 from 200 yards!).
We all known or at least should know that NOTHING is certain when you are facing a jury in court but I at the end of the day, I'd rather be alive to face them than than have absolute proof that I was facing death! ;)

The signing of the UN Arms Treaty baloney is political posturing to give some "red meat" to the sons and daughters of satan that hate us and hate guns; and to have the globalist elites raise their middle finger to us "delightful rustics" to show us that the "best and brightest" sign treaties; not the people in a land supposidely governed " of the people, by the people, and fore the people"..... The treaty has to be ratified by a 2/3 vote of the senate. That aint gonna happen as others have wisely posted. Additionally, the gubmt cant enter into teaties that usurp the Constitution.
I say we should watch this stuff; not obsess over it, and take appropriate action if necessary. The blue hats aint gonna take anyones guns here in the good ole usa. They have trouble pushin around and disarming much more "simple" and "pliable" populations. There have been approximately 46,000 legal gun purchases per day during the obama administration alone (...if ya believe the data from the NCIS...). Who is gonna collect all them guns??

I agree with most of what you post but what, precisely, makes you so certain that the U.S. cannot enter into a treaty that usurps our Constitution or, to extend the issue, enforce the tenets of that treaty on citizens?
While that would seem to be common sense, I would suggest that if the U.S. does sign and ratify this treaty we will be obligated to follow it; regardless of the Constitution...maybe SCOTUS could overturn that but I don't recall that such has ever been done/tested before.

An incident that happened to me a couple of years; I came home from work, took off my uniform and put on a pair of sweat pants and a hooded sweatshirt. I put my wallet in one pocket and my little pistol in the other.
I went to Walmart and as I was walking through the parking lot, someone grabbed me from behind and spun me around. When he did, he grabbed me by the throat with one hand and drew his other fist back. I already had my hands in my pocket on my wallet and pistol. He all of a sudden let lose of me and kind of put both hands in the air about shoulder height and took a slight step back and said "I thought you was someone else". I said "you were about a millisecond away from being dead". He never said I'm sorry or nothing. He just turned and walked away.
I had already made my mind up that this dude was going to die. He was fixing to get shot through my jacket pocket. I only hesitated long enough to make sure it wasn't friend or family playing with me. I wanted to throw up after that I was so shook up. I couldn't get a tag number or nothing.

I suspect many of us have bad dreams about something like that happening to us or even worse, to someone we care about.
At least it ended well.
I guess it can never happen to me as I refuse to go to Wallyworld; it's against my religious convictions. ;)

Where do you get that kind of insurance?
Mine is through my membership in USCCA but there is at least one standalone company that offers that specific protection although I can't remember the name of it off hand.

My 80 year old great uncle shot and killed a man who pulled him out of his car and started beating him about a decade ago. He was cleared and then sued by the scumbag's family. The suit was dropped, but it still cost him nearly $10k in legal fees.
Which is why I carry insurance specifically to cover the need to defend myself...today, you either need insurance or have $25-50K available as a starting point if you are involved in a SD shooting.

Exactly. This Senate couldn't even get up enough votes to pass an AWB or high-cap magazine ban. Why anyone thinks they'd get a 2/3 majority to ratify this treaty is beyond me.
Which could very easily change in 18 months.
It's not just "this" senate just like it's not just "this" SCOTUS.
