  1. Ok. I made a knucklehead error. Never in my life have I seen or heard of this.

While field stripping my G19 I was putting the slide back on. In the process it seemed to get "jammed" and wouldn't go on all the way. The trigger reset at this time. And...the guide rod sprung forward through the front of the gun.

So now, here I am with the slide halfway on and the guide rod sticking out the front. No way to remove the slide or put it all the way back on.

I dry fired her and the slide shot forward and fell off. I put her back together with no more problems.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? Is it common? Should I worry?

    Thanks in advance.

Yep it happened to me just last week on my Sigma 9mm. Took me about 20 minutes to get it back apart. The recoil spring popped out and had it all jammed up. Put it back together and worked fine.

  2. I would call the following number to discuss your warranty question:

    Walther America

    Sales and Warranty Service

    2100 Roosevelt Ave.

    Springfield, MA 01104

    Phone:  800-372-6454

    Fax: 413-747-3317

    Email: customerservice@waltheramerica.com

Walther recently terminated their agreement with Smith and Wesson and you may have better luck calling them directly.

Before I called S&W I did call Walther America and they told me they do not have any parts at all for the PK 380's. Smith was handling all the PK's and that they might have the parts in stock or might not. Then the guy tells me that Walther will be getting control of all parts from S&W for all the Walthers in April and if I wanted to wait  I could call them back then. Well I did not want to wait so I called S&W and now Im waiting on the box they said they were sending me to ship it back to them.

Im still curious though as I stated above, I bought it second hand so do I have to worry about them not honoring any warranty work?

The guy on the phone did not verify any information if I was the original owner or does their warrany carry on?

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

  3. Has anyone experienced Walthers customer/repair support?

I recently picked up a PK380 second hand. It came with 2 mags full of ammo. I shot 1 mag and it did great. I reloaded the same mag and shot 1 round with a FTE. Cleared it and shot agian with another FTE and so on  etc, etc.

Today I took it to my local gun smith and he said the extractor is worn out and looks as if some one had done some work on it causing it to not reach in far enough to catch the case. So now I call Smith and Wesson and tell them what the pistol is doing, and the dude on the phone says we'll take care of it. He took my mailing information to send me a box to send it to them..

So hence the question, has anyone had to deal with them with a similar situation? I think Walther or Smith offered lifetime warrranty on these pistols but to the first purchaser only. The guy on the phone did not ask any questions so im curious, and I even asked him if this will cost me anything and he said it should'nt.

    Thanks for any info

  4. If your interested you would qualify to join the American Legion here in Maryville. Annual dues are $35 a year and to join the range its a $20 or $25 one time fee for life time membership to the outdoor shooting range.

  5. I could use a little help. I have an  rg38 spezial  68 model 2 inch barrel made in germany. I know most people consider them to be junk but I have a friend who want to buy if for his daughter for home defense and I would like it to function properly.

Here is the problem, the ejector rod works its way out of the cylinder when shooting it. I completely tore down the cylinder and cannot figure what is suppose to hold the ejector rod in place. The front of the ejector rod has a screw slot in it so im wondering if its suppose to thread into the cylinder? I dont see any threads anywhere though.  I have looked at numriches schematic and that really dont show me any fine detail of the parts.  If anyone has any advice i'd appreciate it. Thanks

  6. I just got this in my email from Lamar Alexander.  It is in response to the email and US Mail letter I sent to him.  I posted that letter on this forum.  I was actually a bit surprised to read what he wrote.  Comming from Lamar Alexander, it is quite surprising.  But read it for yourself and decide.  I have no doubt that it is a formal response to everybody who wrote to him.

    Mr. Samuel Cooper

    Dear Samuel,

Thank you for sharing your feelings regarding the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.  I was horrified by this attack that left twenty-eight dead.  My thoughts and prayers are for the victims and those who now live with their loss.

As we learn more about the tragedy in Newtown, I think we must look closely at the behavior of isolated young men who develop an obsession with violence.  We should ask the leaders of the entertainment industry whether they would want their children--or those who might harm their children--to watch the increasingly violent video games and movies that they pour into our culture.  This is not the only cause of violence in our society but it is one important cause. Connecticut has strong gun laws. The problem is not with the gun but with the person pulling the trigger.

This is a terrible event for our nation and we must find appropriate ways to respond. I’m grateful you’ve shared your reactions with me and will keep them in mind as we move forward.

    Sincerely,
    Lamar

Word for word, thats the same email I got back as well

  7. Thanks or the info.. I've decided to pass on this one. It's it Fla and It would be too hard to really get a good opinion from the current owner about the internal condition. I will however have to keep the last post in mind as I run across the Helwan's pretty often in the pawn shops.
  8. Update. Turns out its a Helwan with Egytian writing on it. Im not sure yet if its import marked. Im still waiting on pictures and it would help if this was not out of state.. I did some research on the helwan and it seems to be a decent collectable. According to the current owner she says it in excellent or better conditon and is asking $250 obo and shipped for free. What do you all think? I wont have any pics till later in the week.
  9. I thought the same thing, that it was a helwan. The lady was sure it's stamped "german" and "helman".. I guess I'll just have to wait to see it. It wont happent till Feb so I guess in the mean time i'll just keep checking the web for some info. Thanks
  10. Good Day everyone and Merry Christmas, I was at a buddies house yesterday and he was telling me his sister has a german gun for sale in 9mm. I asked what it was,he wasnt sure so he called her.. He put her on speaker phone and she read off the gun "germany" and "Helman".. Its semi auto. I cannot find anything on the internet about it, so I was wondering if any of you long term gun gurus have ever seen or heard of one? She's wanting 250 for it and says there is not a scratch on it. Its just to heavy for her to carry it. Thanks
  11. I did not want to start a new post on this as I know there is another Guard related post somewhere, I just cant find it..
So anyway. The wife and I have been working security now since Oct this year. How long should it take to get our State issued cards? Our last paycheck stub states that our license is due to expire in Jan 2013.
I have seen some of the members here work in the security field, so if you have any info I would greatly appreciate it.

some are pretty bad, some are pretty clean. I plan to go through them tonight and separate the best from the worst.

Im glad you posted a pic. about a year ago I bought 1000 rounds of wolf ammo at the gun show same caliber. I got it home and opened both boxes and found exactly what you have. Just about every round was rusted. I simply took each one to the bench grinder using the wire wheel and cleaned em right up. I was quite worried about it until about the 10th round and I figured it they have'nt blown up yet im good to go..Once cleaned I just kept them in an ammo can and have not had any rust come back yet..
