Sporting Clays in Knoxville

Recommended Posts

Now that the Smoky Mountain Sportsmans Club has closed down, I don't know where to go shoot clays. The only other place I know of is the John Sevier Hunter Education Center and they run weird hours which don't make it too accessable for me. Benton Shooters is really nice but it's also a good 50 miles away. I don't know anyone with land so my options are kind of limited. Does anyone know of anywhere else in the area to go that I haven't discovered yet?

Yeah, the Oak Ridge Sportsmans Association has a BIG sporting clays group. They have one Trap and three Skeet ranges. For more info you can go to orsa.nxs.net/facilities_SkeetTrap.htm.

Membership is required but if you shoot much at all, it's well worth it. You need a sponsor to join so if you don't know anyone else, get back to me, have a cup of coffee and provided I don't think you'll shoot your eye out or anyone else's for that matter, I'll sponsor you if you need me to.

Just to add to what Phantom said, membership is not expensive ($120 per year) and the ranges/facilities are top notch (not to mention the 1000 yard rifle range). I'm a pistol shooter but I like the fact that I can do the rifle/shotgun shooting if I choose.

I wish we had something like this in west TN. Or something I knew about anyway! We use to have one a long time ago, out in the county. But its been shut down for years!
