I think its just because they are both popular guns. The more that are bought, the more that are going to end up on the private market. The PT1911 really isn't that popular of a gun anymore. It was when it first came out and the price was fantastic for a 1911, but since then they have inflated the price and you can generally buy better ones for the same price. This was also before Rock Island Armory started becoming more and more popular with their extremely well priced and reliable 1911s.:tough:

My guess would be the cost of ammo for a large percentage of them. There was a time when a lot of .40 cals were for sale on here.

I know that the finish on the PT1911's are not the great and the first run had some probs with the safety (since fixed), I was just so curious with all the tout for these platforms why so many were for sale..

Just the natural flow of things. You see all the Glock fanatics, yet a large number of items being sold in the trading post are Glocks. Doesn't mean people hate them or they are bad guns, just lots of people have bought them so naturally there are going to be a larger number of them being sold on the private market.

Yeah that's true also. A lot of the Glocks I have seen for sale are the Gap or Sig ammo type. Dunno if that makes a difference or not. 9mm and .45 are about everywhere all the time.

Personally I would never sell my XD. I'll just save money and add to the collection.

Somebody done taught that boy right. biggrin-1.gif

Actually Froggyone2 come by the shop and I'll make you one heck of a deal on a new PT1911.

Both the XDs and the PT 1911 are excellent guns. I prefer the PT 1911 over any XD (the XD just doesn't fit my had the way a 1911 does). With that said If you find a good deal on either pick em up. Great guns;)

Yeah.. I know what you mean, the Glock and SD and anything else with like that don't fit me well either.. I don't care ergonomic they claim them to be.. Give me a 1911!!!

I have owned both guns at some point. The PT1911 is a fine gun with features that would cost extra on other guns. For example slim line grips, and front strap checkering. You do not see 20 LPI checkering on Kimber's, Springfield's or other under the $1000 mark. The Taurus has a nice trigger and is reliable. I do not like the sights but I have heard that for combat use the big front dot is the thing to have. I like to target shoot with the 1911's but I carry a Glock. I believe that if John Browing would have liveda few decades longer he would have invented the Glock pistol first. The XD's are just as good as the Glock IMHO. I refer the Glock's simplistic design
