  2. People forget who Ike was: thanks Wikipedia A Republican, Eisenhower entered the 1952 presidential race to counter the non-interventionism of Sen. Robert A. Taft, and to crusade against "Communism, Korea and corruption". He won by a landslide, defeating Democrat Adlai Stevenson and ending two decades of the New Deal Coalition holding the White House. As President, Eisenhower concluded negotiations with China to end the Korean War. His New Look, a policy of nuclear deterrence, gave priority to inexpensive nuclear weapons while reducing the funding for the other military forces to keep pressure on the Soviet Union and reduce federal deficits at the same time. He began NASA to compete against the Soviet Union in the space race. His intervention during the Suez Crisis was later acknowledged by Eisenhower himself as his greatest foreign policy mistake. Near the end of his term, the Eisenhower Administration was embarrassed by the U-2 incident and was planning the Bay of Pigs invasion. On the domestic front, he covertly helped remove Joseph McCarthy from power but otherwise left most political actions to his Vice President, Richard Nixon. He was a moderate conservative who continued the New Deal policies, and in fact enlarged the scope of Social Security, and signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956. Though passive on civil rights at first, he sent federal troops to enforce the Supreme Court's ruling to desegregate schools. He was the first term-limited president in accordance with the 22nd Amendment. Eisenhower's two terms were mainly peaceful, and generally prosperous except for a sharp economic recession in 1958–59. Although public approval for his administration was comparatively low by the end of his term, his reputation improved over time and in recent surveys of historians, Eisenhower is often ranked as one of the top ten U.S. Presidents.
  3. You got it...someone actually got it...I shake your hand!
  4. SS isn't a freebie...I paid...it was supposed to be set aside for MY future retirement. It's not my fault (well, maybe it is...I didn't protest the original law...but I wasn't born then...then again...I've been voting for the idiot sons of our captains of industry...who, by the way, believe that employees should die working, but not on the job.) government decided that some rich bast!!d needed it worse than me. You middle class people are seeing your middleness rapidly erroding away due to the GREED of the upper class, not the lazyness of the poor. This is America...we're not supposed to have class. If you truly believe in America then you should understand that the Stock Market is a GAMBLE...like the Slots in Vegas. I don't get my money back if I lose it in the slots. Stock Market Gamblers shouldn't expect ot get a "bailout"
  5. I was wondering how long it would take...
  6. I don't have to justify it, it's the law. There's a bunch of stupid laws...like Pot laws. But it is the law.
  7. If we don't learn from history (not politicaly correct history) we're doomed to make the same mistakes. If you're a PC history buff...I have this turd that needs to be picked up by the clean end.
  8. I'm already in those databases. But they still let me fly.
  9. The sound of traffic on the road behing my house...just a few minutes ago it was the trash truck...and I didn't wake up in time to put my trash out.
  10. My worst fall was in the mountains of Wyoming. (Mistake one) My sons and I were hiking up to the Tongue River Cave in the dead of winter. (mistake two) The switchback trail was icy and we didn't turn back. I lost my footing and fell on my back. (Mistake three) There was a fallen tree that we had to step over. I hit that tree trunk and it turned me straight down hill. At the end of that steep hill there was a 50 to 75 foot cliff which would have shot me out over the river and I was going fast enough to hit the far bank. There was one little tree just before the edge. I reached behind me and grabbed it on the way by. Then the kids had to do things with ropes from the trunk of the car to get me off the edge. That could have been a real mess and I know I wouldn't have survived the fall. We didn't go back to the cave until spring.
  11. I'm old...I remember the poor farm in my home town. People who weren't eligible for SS because they didn't pay in. Taxes went up...they lost their farms because money didn't go as far as it did when they started saving. The buck is worth less than 2 cents in 1900 dollars.
  12. Yup!
  13. Whoops...sorry. I believe we're getting warmer...but we've done it before...we'll do it again. We'll get colder too...done it before...do it again. It's part of nature and if we're not part of nature then you need to show me how we got here.
  14. Wanna find out the truth about Global Warming? 7(x) Earth's Climatic History
  15. Senior member already!! And it's all because my mind won't let my fingers shut up!
  16. Well...since I just got up. My arm is the arm from he!!. Why I didn't break it I'll never know. On the first of every month I squire a friend's wife around all day. She and I go all over town paying her bills and buying her wanttos. She said the fall 'twern't pretty. I had an armload of books she got from the freebie bin at McKay Books and I was trying to juggle them too. I still can't pick it up very far and a tee shirt is EXTREMELY difficult...plus my jeans ride funny because I can't pull the right side up. I can already tell I'm getting over it though. It's a dull ache instead of OH SHi!. I thank you all for your concern. Falling and breaking something is my number two fear...number one is being homeless.
  17. Thanks guys. I appreciate the thoughts.
  18. If I get any more relaxed I'll fall out of my chair
  19. My father said it like this: "If you manage to get Lucky, don't tell your friends. She'll get a reputation and your friends will be the lucky ones and you'll be without. A gentleman never tells."
  20. My least favorite Quote: " It's not hard if you read the material and have a lick of common sense. "
  21. Whoa...this is really good beer
  22. You have to slightly rub the sippin's into the muscle ache and liberally coat the insides.
  23. Somebody remind me to not try and move my arm while I can't feel it.
  24. My wife loves her CZ 70...sure it's a "mid small size .32" but she was in the 10 ring at 50 yards. First time shooter, first pistol. She hides it from me. The wench!
  25. "I'm in the tulips" My ex wife's favorite saying. It goes like this. Where are you my sweetness and light? I'm hiding Where are you hiding? Come find me When I find you I'm gonna throw you down and make mad passionate love to you I'm in the tulips
