I'd have to know a good diesel mechanic before I jumped into that pool.  My wife's work uses a f350 and f550 both with diesels.  Those trucks always seem to give them motor/def/emissions problems.

Call around and ask a few independent diesel shops about the reliability of the big three brands and the particular years. Guarantee they all say avoid the 6.0 Powerstroke and probably the 6.4 PS too.

  2. Absolutely 3/4 ton, and get a diesel. Since you are buying used, absolutely under no circumstances get a 6.0 Powerstroke. I’m not familiar with the newer ones but these are junk. Duramax or Cummins is fine but the 6.0PS will be in the shop more than on the road.

It’s been several years back now, but my dad pulled a trailer 5-6 days a week all year long for work as a contractor. It was a 7x12 enclosed trailer at an estimated 6-8k (never weighed it). Originally he pulled it with a 99 Silverado 1500 2wd reg cab short bed 4.3 v6. It did the job, but it was obvious you needed more truck. Squatted the rear end quite a bit, nowhere near enough braking power, and it was enough of a strain that I don’t think it would have lasted long term. Did that for 4 years/80k miles, finally was able to get a Duramax, 2004 2500 crew cab short bed 4wd. It did a much better job at it. It was an appropriate truck for that load.

If you are only looking at 3-4 years old, you likely won’t save that much over a brand new, left over stock from last year when you buy. Full sized trucks in general and especially diesel pickups hold their value very well even in a non-COVID-19 market.

Don't try and tell me you guys haven't at least thought of trying this!

You can do the pizza slices if not too wide and you watch the time you leave them in.

Yes...I do know from experience. It's amazing what a guy will try when you don't have an oven.

    George Foreman grill.
    That’s all I’m saying.

Anyone else notice COVID getting less and less media coverage?

I think the talking heads are more worried about setting the country on fire and keeping Trump out of office than the virus.

Its like anything else, move from one ratings-boosting catastrophe to another. Modern America has a very short attention span.

Met a lot of people who don't understand that. Looked at a cheap car once where the guy wanted to slap $1500 extra on a $3000 car because of the stereo he had installed.

In fact sometimes, I would pay LESS for something with 'upgrades' because I have no idea if they were installed right or maybe in order to cover up issues.Kinda like the guys used to use diamond plate to cover all the rust on jeeps.

When I was in high school when all the kids wanted a Honda Civic, there was a shop in town that was known for buying wrecked import cars slapping on a body kit, cheap paint, decals, cheap rims, and selling for a premium. And to the kids that wanted that kind of car, they sold like hot cakes.

Keep in mind the used vehicle market right now is madness. Inventory is slim and prices are high. I'm watching some of the guys on Tacoma World state that Carvana is offering them more than they paid 3 years ago(new) for their 2017-2018. Yes, you read that right. They are getting offers to sell their trucks for more than they paid new.

Well, I would argue that Tacomas don’t really count. They hold their value better than any other vehicle on the road. Probably hold their value better than gold if you really crunched the numbers.

But you are right. Used car market is crazy right now.

I like those. Did see one in the classified I like. I’m amazed at how many 7.5’s are out there.

While you do get more velocity from longer barrels, most agree 8-9 inches is the sweet spot for 300 BLK barrel length. And given that the overwhelming majority of 300 BLK shooters are shooting under 100 yards subsonic suppressed or want a very short pistol/SBR for home defense or a truck gun I think that’s why you are seeing the shorter barrels. The new Daniel Defense PDW has a 7” barrel.

My recent research has led me to either Ballistic Advantage or BCM as the top names in 300 BLK currently, as previously mentioned.

The number of states with "constitution carry" have been steadily increasing these past few years, just as "shall-issue" laws did in the recent past.  Thoughts on that for Tennessee?

Already in the works, but likely won’t happen for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19. But it’s already long past the “gauging interest” phase.
