  1. While I don’t believe everything he has said, early on he said that not him or anybody else really knows much about this virus. Everybody is just learning as they go. As time goes on and they get more data, what they thought initially, may not be true anymore. I know he has straight up lied to us (concerning masks specifically), but some things they are just learning as time goes on.

And when they say they really don’t know, I believe them on that.

Physics being physics, you should probably reasonably expect a .40 caliber pistol to wear faster than a 9mm.

That said, if you put 35-40K rounds through one to accomplish that you've probably earned a new one.

Agreed. Only exception being the H&K USP, it was built as a .40S&W then rechambered for 9mm

Yep, it’ll still feed and not jam even with mags loaded like that. Slide definitely won’t get all jacked up like the OP.

And it makes you an operator.😉

Uncle Larry’s loaded.  How much more does he need?

I do like Midway but their prices aren’t the greatest, cutting off C&R discounts, and the jacked up shipping charges kinda left me soured for a while.  It is what it is though.  If they have something I need I’ll order.

I use to look on Midway but since Amazon is a thing now, unless it’s restricted from being sold on amazon, I’ll just get it there. Otherwise I’ll look somewhere more specialized, like a ammo site or reloading site, etc.

Im sure I’m not the only one who has shifted business to Amazon...

I will say one thing, if she ate what she finally received shes brave lmao. Maybe she should watch Clerks 2 and consider some patience :)

I’m assuming Clerks 2 is a movie or TV show I haven’t seen or heard of.

  6. While this may be very uncommon in that particular area, yes people do act that sort of way under normal circumstances. The problem with saying something to a complete stranger that is already physically agitated, is that it’s taken as escalation and when you carry, that’s something to avoid at all costs.

That being said, common courtesy, common sense, and just being kind to one another has gotten less and less common over the years. However, right now in the current situation, the erosion of society is happening at a much faster rate.

I fully agree with your sentiment of “Stay vigilant”

  7. All I can find for TX is they passed 1 million permits in 2016 and they changed it from CHL (concealed handgun license) to LTC (license to carry) after passing open carry legal.

Saw one article that mentioned TN has far more gun permits per capita than TX and 2nd or 3rd in the nation. Behind FL

Edit: found it. 1.4 million license holders in TX as of Dec 31, 2019

I can't even count the number of times we had to ban people from coming here and stirring up drama about people on that site, who weren't even TGO members, because of bad deals.  Or the occasions when we would be alerted to the fact that some scammer over there was using photos and descriptions of firearms listed for sale on TGO to post bogus ads on that site.  People would Google whatever the key words were and then wind up here looking at the legit ad and raise hell with the legit ad's poster about whatever scam had happened to them on that site.

It took us a few times of that happening before we totally figured it out, but after that it was a 100% block for any URLs going there.

That place used to be a complete cesspool.  I can only assume it still is.

Wow, never knew about the scammers, I do remember those complaining about deals gone wrong over there though.

I’m betting there is a disproportionate amount of liberal/progressive/political in NY but generally speaking, you’re correct. They appreciate quality engineering no matter what form it takes.

I’m going to stick to a narrow definition about what your asking and just talk about a combo firearm. If I were going to go that route, then I wouldn’t go with a rifle/rifle, I’d go rifle/shotgun and I’d select a .22/12 ga. The lowly 12ga shotgun will take any beast in North America, provided you have the right ammunition, the skill and the bravery. Anything from a rabbit to a grizzly bear. The .22 is perfect for small game.

All that being said, it’s a poor choice for a firefight or for long range. The old Savage 24 were excellent quality guns. Latter on Savage brought out an updated model, called the 42. I believe Remington also imported a combo made in Turkey and badged as a Remington. Chiappa makes a version of the old Air Force Survival rifle in .22/12 ga that the Air Force used.

For hunting purposes, that would be a tough gun to beat in .22/12ga. As you said with proper ammunition, it’s good enough for anything.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but I thought the Air Force version of that rifle was .22/.410. And .410 would be terrible for a survival situation. Anyone that’s used one knows, .410 is basically a shotgun for experts. Not the kind of added difficulty you want in dire times.

  11. It reads like you are thinking a bushcraft/live off the land type scenario. I’m curious how we get there from where we are now. Living in the wilderness with only what you find and what you can fit in a backpack and maybe in a game cart is very difficult and has a TON of disadvantages.

Even in the most catastrophic TEOTWAWKI scenario, long term survival (longer than 6 months) will be dependent upon if you can raise animals and grow a garden. In the 6-12 months prior to that (immediately following the “event”) when it’s complete and total anarchy with Mad Max roaming gangs (hypothetical) you will want nothing less than an AR/AK and high capacity pistol. But afterwards, you can’t roam forever, when you settle down or bug in, you can have anything and everything (gun wise) you can get. You will have to get a plot of land or work for someone who does. If you really want a 2-gun battery for that either a .357mag revolver/lever gun or .22 rifle/centerfire pistol would suffice I suppose. But you wouldn’t be limited to just 2 guns.

Of course the optimum solution is to just live in the country right now, commute to work if you must, and practice growing a garden and raising chickens or whatever other animals you have room for. It doesn’t just happen it takes work and skills knowing what to do. Otherwise you’ll likely not make it past 12 months. Within 3-4 months all game and fish will be gone.

You can’t  live out of a backpack/off the land indefinitely.

I posted this last September. Target Sports USA used to run Federal HST in 50 round boxes on sale at half price every few months. But due to the drama, I would guess it will be awhile before they do that again. I keep my eye out and try to post when it happens.

    Appreciate that!

In all fairness, this was at Outpost and was the only 9mm they had. I knew with things the way they are right now buying any 9mm ammo is going to be very expensive unless I just got lucky. And premium JHP is usually $0.80-$1.00 per round anyways. I found some non +P online for $40 + shipping. So maybe it wasn’t THAT bad. I sure picked a bad time to be in need of some ammo...
