  1. If you do find yourself inclined to trade that FDE one for black, I'm in possession of a gen 3 black 19 that wouldn't mind following you home as well ;)

Same here. I'd definitely trade my all black gen 3 for FDE.
  2. Volphin,

This sounds like a problem that can be addressed. Here is how I would do it. Fortunately, you bought it from a manufacturer with good customer service.

I would send a letter via USPS to Dennis Reese, CEO of Springfield Armory.

In so many words, I would say I feel that SA takes pride in producing quality products and that I felt comfortable investing in one as my primary carry pistol for self defense.

I would explain what the problem is very clearly and not use abbreviations like FTF and FTE. I would let him know that I have sent it back to the factory twice and that both times it has come back without the problem being solved.

Next I would say that I want to feel good about my purchase and would greatly appreciate his help in resolving the issues.

Now, a couple of points. Notice that my verbiage wasn't angry or threatening - it was complimentary, let him know I have an issue and asked for his help. Next, I would suggest getting someone else to read your description of the problem to make sure it makes sense.

I say that because I have a customer going live with a new solution. Over the past two days, he has brought three issues to me he isn't happy about. He didn't write the email in a manner that clearly explained what the problem was. I took action to find out what he needed, though many folks won't.

My expectation would be that your letter will cause a couple of cans of whoopass to get opened on folks up there and that they will fall over themselves to get it fixed.

This is an area I know a lot about and I feel sure it would result in a weapon you feel good about, or feel like you can sell with a clear conscience.

I would make the above my first step in resolving your issue, and finding a new/different weapon or platform the last step. I would be appalled if this solution didn't fix your problem, and make you one happy customer. I'm incredibly intrigued as to the response from SA if you decide to send that letter. I await your decision on how to handle this matter with great anticipation.
  3. Crossbreed and Stealth Gear make an excellent product. Check out croosbreedseconds.com for great deals as well. Don't skimp on your holster or belt. Crossbreed is the original. Everyone else has just made the design with cheaper materials. Stealth gear is only maker that has really changed the materials for the better. I would either get a Stealth gear or crossbreed. You spent a lot of money on a weapon to save your life. Don't cheap out on comfort and security for that investment.
  4. In the tri-cities you won't find better service and prices than TCSS in Kingsport. Michael is a great guy and a member here. He does transfers and can also order anything in stock from distributors like Davidsons etc. If he ever opens up a gun shop we'll have several dealers go out of business here.
  5. I recognize your explaining how you handled a situation on your own property where you were armed with an AR-15 and slung it muzzle down across your back when you observed the police arrive. Firstly I'm glad no one was injured. Secondly you have drawn as large a target across yourself as possible and cannot see what you've done.
My first advice is remove the cache from your yard soonest. My second is to never, I repeat never go outside of your house armed to confront or investigate an intruder, particularly if your spouse is calling the police to report same. Had one of those kids been shot by the police it would have cost you everything you own. Had the police shot you once they noticed you moving with a rifle they would have been absolved.
I personally think geo caching is a good thing but young people and newcomers who are bored don't pay attention to the time of night. You are far luckier in what happened in this incident then you realize. Take the good with the bad and hopefully learn something yourself here.

    Very well said.
  6. Something is obviously wrong. I've never had to use tools or tables to insert mags. Could just be the springs, but once you pass a certain point of rough you start breaking things. I would heed Daves advice and contact S&W. The worst that could happen is you get a free hat out of it. :)
  7. Wow... so nice... That is how dads get to immortality. Not because he gave you a cool thing but because you will think of him and smile every single time you see the gun or even the box...

As far as Weatherby ammo expense, Percentage wise I will bet Weatherby has inspired as many reloaders as any single brand...

As cool as unfired guns are I would be hard pressed not to spend a few minutes every year on his birthday touching a few off. You may not ever do anything else with the gun but it would be a great way to create a shared memory even if he doesn't pull the trigger himself. Do it this year even if his birthday has already passed and then promise each other you are going to do it again same time next year. Renew that promise every year...

    Mark

PS: Midway USA has 270 Weatherby Magnum ammo by Weatherby, Nosler and Norma.

A tradition such as this is why rifles are passed down in the first place. Watching you shoot it and hearing how much you love it every year will fill him with more pride than you know.
  8. It is for a company that is on the campus of Nuclear Fuels, it is a not federal property. (that I am aware of)

Yes I have a TN HCP.

I live in Erwin and have several friends and family members that work for NFS. Last I heard if you park in the large parking lot adjacent the facility, towards the receiving dock, it's considered public parking and not subject to search without probable cause. If you enter the the main facility through the security checkpoints, and inside the wall/barbed wire you'll be subject to vehicle searches at will. If the contractor you'll be working for is Murray Guard you'll have nothing at all to worry about since you'll be doing the searches :)
  9. His buddy doesn't seem all that gun savvy. Could it be that the Security Agency he works for mandates revolvers?

If his employer mandates he have a revolver on duty I would go buy a new/used 4 inch Ruger GP100 and be done with it.
  10. If this is the last box of 22 on the planet then I'll have fun shooting it with my new pistol.

Right on! What an excellent statement. This is the attitude of someone who truly enjoys the shooting sports.

  11. at first I felt bad about giving him so little money - not so much after hearing a 147gr scream over my ear lol.

LMAO, that's hilarious. Glad to hear it went over your ear, and not in it!

  12. So many choices, how much would you guys give for a shield? I see them typically for around $400 or a little more.

They're routinely found new for $369 and up. I've seen them used locally for $350 and that usually includes whatever type of holster the seller bought for it. The Ruger LC9s PRO is in the same price range as the Shield. The LC9S PRO has a better stock trigger than the Shield. Be sure to get the PRO version because it doesn't have the magazine disconnect saftey, or the manual safety. Id shoot them both before you decide. A good range/home defense gun in yout price range is the Ruger P95. I bought one for $289 new about 6 years ago. It's one of the most reliable and accurate firearms I own. It's a beast to carry though. OWB all the way.

  13. FYI they are only making 1000 units ......after that
its over .. I am considering not even shooting mine now LOL

This has got to be a "soft launch". Why run a limited production of the barest bones 1911 of all time? Definitely don't shoot it though, till you see what happens with them, lol.
  14. I went to 2 WMs over here in East TN today. One of the Johnson City locations and the Erwin location. The one in JC only had a Mossberg 715 .22, and the Erwin location had zero ARs. Interestingly, the Erwin location had a Colt AR-15 airsoft rifle marked way down as well. This would seem to validate the claims of WM getting out of the "black rifle" market.
  15. I was going to get a Pack lite barrel to put on my MKII pencil barrel but a new 22/45 was just a few $ more.

You just missed a great deal on a blue one for sale on this forum!

The deal a few weeks ago in the classifieds was too good to pass up for me. I got a great deal, and met a great member in the process. You won't be disappointed with the lite in light blue. I too was going to get a pack lite barrel for my 22/45 HB, but again couldn't pass up this deal, lol. Great suppressor host, and loads of fun to shoot. With the compensator the balance is phenomenal.

  16. I say all that to say this: be honest and upfront with this lady. Explain to her the real value of what she has, and that you aren't in a position to pay retail for it. You just might get a deal as well.

^ This 100% The added benefit of being honest and upfront is you get to sleep well at night no matter which way the deal goes. If you passed away would you want someone to scam your wife, or be honest with her?
  17. I have to say I love Nashville Armory, but I have had some less than stellar interactions with one of the gals there. I have to imagine it's a symptom of "being a woman in a mans world" cause she's managed to be both wrong and condescending about it on more than one occasion. Everyone else there has been awesome, maybe it was her?

If this is happening on a regular basis and she's not owner/co-owner they need to let her go. If she is owner/co-owner they still need to let her go! You can't teach someone how to interact with people, it's natural.

  18. She also said if you don't know how to shoot don't bother coming because they didn't want to turn a 8 hour course into a 10. REALLY ?

My wife knows how to shoot but that's real customer relationship work on their part. I WILL MAKE SURE THESE THREE LADIES TAKE THE COURSE ELSEWERE.

Wow! I guess she's met her monthly sales quota already, lol. $95 seems steep anyway. I bet they can find a group rate somewhere.
