Welcome from Franklin, near Thompson's Station. I just signed up over at the Haffner Range, let's make some noise together sometime soon. Also an east coast transplant, from Connecticut, but a distant 17 years ago.

I recently migrated from a Ruger P95 to a CZ 75 Compact and I can see it being a female friendly alternative to a P98. A friend has a SW LS3917 9mm (Ladysmith) that is very similar in size. My hands aren't small, but the P95 was feeling a little too bulky for me. The CZ is thinner, very comfortable grip, much better carry option and still has high capacity (there's a 10 shot model and a 14 shot model). I'm actually going to the range for my first outing with it tomorrow and will file a report.

I still want to know where people get this from?
It's federal legislation, what makes you think they wouldn't assemble a federal database? Every decade that's gone by has been an exercise in the federal government encroaching on state's rights, and the pattern makes me suspicious of them.

Brian,
A major reason that several firearms advocacy organizations oppose the national reciprocity bill is that it would necessitate the development of a federal database, which more than a few people are squeamish about, myself included.

I just bought a handgun from Cheaper Than Dirt. They have an FFL Dealer finder on the site, put your zipcode in and a mileage range and it will generate a list. I called a shop here in Franklin about transfer fees, and they expect $75 and up depending on if it's new or used. Needless to say, I won't be buying cleaning patches from them, let alone anything else. Another small shop I've used before charges $35, that I can deal with.

Welcome to the land of the free.

I just oredered a CZ 75 Compact in nickel steel, two tone finish from cheaperthandirt.com . They had full size models last week as low as $418. I squeezed off a few rounds courtesy of a kindly range neighbor at Stone's Creek last year, great fit for my hand and really accurate compared to the Ruger P95 I just sold.

Nice to find this forum. I've been into shooting for about 35 years, mostly handgun, some clays, not a hunter. Looking forward to meeting some folks here. Cheers!
Question about Ruger Mini-14 Stainless Series 181

I have a blued 181 I bought online 3 years ago from a dealer in CT very close to where Ruger used to be located. Someone bought it new, stuck it in the closet for 25 years and never put a round through it. I paid $400.
