[Good Decision or Not Sig P226 Israeli]

On another forum (while this site was down), found an interesting deal from Sarco in PA. They have used Israeli miltary/police Sig P226 beginning @ $325 for good condition. The forum thread read I was on, read on that Sarco was out of stock. So I figured I missed the deal. Well earlier today, I called for the heck-of-it, and the salesguy said they have plenty. The prices start at $325 (good condition), $375 (very good) and $450 (VG to excellent). So for what I am needing, just a shooter, and something to keep on my boat, I purchased the $325 version. I will let people know when I get it what kind of condition it really is. BTW - Before I made this posting, I just searched this site for Sarco, and found a few postings that wasn't too kind of Sarco 2+ years ago, now I wander if I made a Good Decision or Not. I am committed now, so I guess it doesn't matter. What do you think?

I actually like that old Remington 41. I had one just like it and it was my favorite coon hunting rifle. Talk about being safe, unless that bolt was manually pulled back, no way to fire. I guess that is why dad got me that rifle. BTW my dad loves old 22 rifles like that way too much, he told me a few years ago, that he wanted to get his grandsons some old 22s like what he had as a youth. I said go for it. He recently told me he has now acquired through flea markets and yard sales, etc., ~25 old Remingtons and Winchesters. 514s, 512s, 510s, 41, 69A, 68, 513s, and a few more. I guess I should point out he has only 5 grandsons, ages from 2-7. They are set, and he is not finished. I guess everyone has a sickness, and his is bolt action old 22s with walnut stocks (and a few nylons too).

Idiot clerks do not have to be an idiot. Either know the subject or keep their mouth closed. I had one bad experience as a teenager that shaped my life to this day. When I was 16 years old, I had a '78 Jeep. I remember I was getting out the jeep somewhere, maybe Krogers or something, and someone asked me if it had a 304 engine in that Jeep. I wasn't for sure, and I wanted it to sound quite knowledible and intimidating at the same time, so I said it had a 430, or 450. I knew a lot kids at school had Novas, Camaros, Mustangs, which they bragged about their engines like 302, 351, 350, 454, 400, etc. So to not be outdone, I said something dumb and stupid. I knew I was an idiot when I saw the grin/smile and strong laughter from the guy who had asked me the question. So moving forward I was never going to get caught off guard again regardless of the subject, and I wasn't going to BS anymore. I began to read up on car magazines and whatnot to learn (no internet or message boards back then). A few years later when I went to work at Walmart, I was lucky enough to work in Sporting goods and I sold rifles and handguns (that was 25 years ago). I knew about 22lr rifles, but nothing more. So I bought handgun and rifle magazines so I could read up on the guns/ammo that I was selling, so I could talk the talk factually. I even actually read the back of the 4473 forms and informed customers what I could help with and what I could not. No Wally manager told me to do this, I just did. So if clerks want to be taken seriously, they need to study and know the items they are selling, or keep their dumb mouths shut. Its repulsive when I know more than the sales person knows, because he is paid to know, I am not.

I just do not like the sling I have on my Winchester 1300 defender. While looking for a new one, I ran across one I really like. I found this sling on a message board, see link below. I have spent considerable time trying to run down this specific sling to no avail. So I wander if anyone here can help. What is this sling and where to purchase it? In addition, I really like the beefy swivels / clips (circled in red), what are these? I think I have seen them on a AR15 type sling before, but I am not sure. So I am looking for this exact sling with the same clips. Any help is appreciated.

74 posts, 936 views in 7 days. Wow, I did not expect this. I will make one more posting. As was stated in the first post, I am taking a class on F.A.I.T.H., and the original question about "In your personal opinion, what do you understand it takes for a person to get to heaven and have eternal life?" As I stated, there are 4 possible answers. I have read all of the 74 posts, and believe I saw 3 of the 4 possible answers. Below are the 4 possible answers:

1.) A person may not know they are lost.

2.) A person knows they are lost but refuse to admit it.

3.) A person could try to find the way to God on their own.

4.) A person could admit they are lost and get the help they need

Anyway, if your opinion fits one of the above, I like to share what I have learned with all who will read this posting. It is so simple it can be spelled out with one hand with 5 simple letters F.A.I.T.H.

F = is for forgiveness. The bible says in Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" God's forgiveness is in Jesus only. The bible says in Ephesians 1:7, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace."

A = is for Available. God's forgiveness is available for all. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotton Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". God's forgiveness is avaiable but not automatic. The bible is clear, Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven.

I = is for Impossible. According to the Bible, it is impossible to get to heaven on our own. Ephesians 2:8-9 "By grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift-not from works, so that no one can boast". So how can a sinful person have eternal life and enter heaven?

T = is for Turn. Turn means repent. Turn aware from sin and self. Luke 13:3 "Unless you repent, you will all perish as well!" Turn to Jesus alone as your Savior and Lord. John 14:6 "I am the way the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me". Then the best news of all: Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation" If you have repented of your sins and confess Christ, then what happens next:

H = is for Heaven. John 14:3 "If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also" and John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance"

[How do you move your safe around?]

1" PVC pipe will do the job. You need 4 to 5 - 48" lengths or whatever the width of your safe is, then just place the PVC under the safe and roll. As one rolls out, place it in front, and repeat. When I purchased my 800lb safe 10 years ago, the place I bought it from told me about this technique, and it worked great. My wife guided me and I pushed. Simple but effective.

I am taking a 16 week class at church on F.A.I.T.H., and I am learing new ways to communicate with believers and non-believers about faith, and I would like to apply what I have already learned. What better place than an off topic thread on one of my favorite forums. There are four possible answers, but lets see where it goes. So like the thread states:

[Sig P220 Carry, need expert advice on purchase]

Alright Sig lovers, I really need some expert advice. Here is the background: Since Christmas I have been bitten by the bug to buy a 45ACP handgun. This will be my first 45, and I thought I wanted a 1911 type model. After lots and lots of intense internet browsing, reading most boards, and watching Youtube, I have concluded without doubt to buy a Sig P220 Carry model. This will be my second Sig, and probably my 30th gun. Now its just a matter of where, when and how much. I have searched E. Tennesse over for current inventory, to touch, to hold, and carress, but have been able to find only two in stock, pricing at both places are similiar, one in Knoxville and one in Benton. I have no preference or loyality to either store. Truth be known I am actually waiting until the next gun show in Knoxville to see if I can beat the gun store price, and I am actually watching very closely a used factory certified Sig P220 Carry on Gunbroker, but I just don't know if I want buy a used one or not. If it goes for only $100 less than a new one, I will not buy, but if I can buy for $200-$300 less than new, I will likely buy.

Okay, enough of the back ground, here is my dilema, today I found a third one, new Sig P220 Carry on display at a box store basically $40 less than the other two gun stores, and its the only one they have. The next nearest one in their computer shows AZ. A couple of neative things, the gun has wear on the barrel, many smiley faces. In fact alot more wear than I would have expected for a display model, but the slide was perfect, and showed no wear when I removed the slide. The breach bolt shows alot of wear as well. The hammer shows a lot strikes to the firing pin too. There was a ding on the trigger guard, as if it had been dropped lightly, a coutner drop, not a floor drop, but other than that the gun was perfect. I very confident there is nothing fishy with the gun, just has been a well shown display gun. The 20 year old behind the counter said its been handled alot for a display and has been in inventory quite awhile, and actually longer than he has been employed there. Now the good, the gun actually shows "made in Germany" on the slide, all of the others I have seen both in person and on the web just has the Exeter, NH, with no reference to Germany. I asked to be shown the factory case, and the case is blue, and a Sig factory label on outside the case shows April 2009. So the question, is there any fear of buying from box stores for Sigs? I have read box stores receives 2nds, and blah, blah, blah. What about the Germany slide, is this suppose to be better? And what is the definition of better? Since the gun is almost 3 years old, any rumors of problems with this model of manufacture? Was this considered early for the "Carry" model? BTW already talked to the manager for display discount due to excessive wear, was thinking if a 10% discount could be applied, I would have purchased today. He said no (the kid actually had to show him how to the pull the slide back for him to see the smiley faces, urrrr!). So when he said no, I just left on principal, but I may swallow crow if I can receive some expert advice from this board, and go back and buy it.

So Sig experts, give me some advice? Buy it, wait and the right one will come along, or what.
