  1. Agreed! That would be incredibly helpful! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hey guys, I know a lot of you make your own sheaths for your bigger knives, but I got a Kabar Eskabar BK-14 from a Coworker for Christmas. I know one of the biggest complaints with the BK11 and BK14 are that the sheaths they come with dull the blade VERY quickly. I was looking at just buying another sheath, but I'm toying with the idea of making my own Leather one. I was curious as to how complicated it is, and how you guys learned to make your own. I appreciate any help
  3. Being that Scottsville is so close, I was curious to see if he had a small shop set up where locals could buy. Thought the guys at Habeggar's may know, but haven't had a shot to ask Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I had seen a couple that had sold on Adams, but I had never seen any prices. Glad you found that. and I agree, xtriggerman, very cool
  5. I've seen some knives floating around made by Sam Stoner, an Amish guy, at his forge in Scottsville. He uses horses to power his grinders. From what I can tell, they look like really well made knives, but the only information I can find online is a couple of Pinterest posts, and a couple of expired auctions. I was curious as to if anyone had anything from there, or had seen/heard of him. I live in Westmoreland, so it would be neat to have a knife made a few miles up the road by horse-powered grinders. They featured his forge on KET a while back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1rIfHpJ6zw&t=16s
  6. http://www.mammothsniperchallenge.com/index.html This looks really interesting. I'm trying to get into long range shooting, but I haven't started yet. That said, I'm not going to participate in this event this year. But it may be a plausible endeavor for next year. Do any of you guys have any suggestions for gear? Or sources of education on range spotting and stuff? How does somebody practice/train for this type thing? Also, I'm not sure I posted this in the right section. Feel free to move it or take it down if I didn't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I've had some good experiences with the M&P models. I've been carrying my full size .40, but I've been wanting something a little lighter, and a little brighter just to add some diversity to the collection. I got a pretty good deal on this 9c from Goodlettsville Gun Shop, and picked it up on Election Day.
  8. I like the Kershaw that I carry currently, I'd just like something a little bigger and spring assisted. I've done a little research since posting this and I've fallen away from the HK. I think I'm gonna buy a Boker Lil Giant. It's $30, and it will give me an idea of the feel of carrying a fixed blade so I can judge whether or not I want to carry something other than a folder on a regular basis. Then if I like it I'll spend a little extra and pick something like the Izula or Becker Necker up. I see this getting addicting pretty quickly.
  9. I've never really been big into knives, but something's clicked within the last few weeks and I've been trying to do a little reading. I carry a Kershaw Shuffle that a friend got me for Christmas last year, and I'm looking to upgrade to another folder from there, but I've been reading some about EDC fixed blades and ran across the HK Instigator. It doesn't seem too large, and looks to be pretty easily concealable, plus it's very affordable at ~$40. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this particular knife, or if you had any suggestions for someone just getting into knives. I appreciate all the help
  10. I had a really good time watching. I'll definitely be jumping in the mix next time around. Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome!
  11. Hello again guys. My name's Chase. I made this account when I was 19, and it became one of those things in life that I had completely forgotten I had done. I'm 24 now, and just received my CCW permit in the mail last week. My interest and appreciation for guns has grown exponentially in the last couple of years, and I'm looking to possibly get into some local competitive shooting. I've got a couple M&P's in different calibers, and a few long guns. Nothing particularly special. I hope this time around I'll use this site to learn everything I could've learned years ago. Thanks in advance for all the help and advice I'm sure to get!
  12. Hey guys, I'm Chase, from Gallatin. I've been around guns most of my life, and shot them comfortably for as long as I can remember. I'm only 19 so I'm just now really getting into owning my own supply and really getting into it all. I hope to learn a lot. Thanks in advance for the welcome
