  1. decided I wnt a 357 sig, something with roughly a 3.5" barrel, or in a smaller frame than the service models. Really liked the p229 model, but it was around $1000 for whichever one it was and as much as i hate to say it, that glock (think it was a 33) also fit my hand well and it was only about $500. We have a bunch of 45's & those are my favorite calibers, but we just wanted to try something different.

Can anyone give any input on either of those, or even another brand? We love our XD's, but was told they only sell this caliber in a service model which is too big for what I want.

  2. Ruger MKIII4 (4 meaning 4.75") is what I have. Mine is from the early 80's but shoots great. Only gripe I have is when it's time for a through cleaning. I found one online in a few minutes for around $290. About $20 for magazines.

this is what we use too, with a bull barrel it is extremely accurate. Taking it apart the first couple of times is a pita, but its easy after that and you could get a speed strip kit if you want it to be even easier. they're about $50 and replace a few of the parts and lighten the trigger a bit at the same time

  3. I've always been against credit checks for employment. So many good people run into hard times and they base an employment decision from something that may have happened years ago and is completely irrelevant now.

Most places say that good credit shows responsibility and that part is understandable, but they need to consider the entire story and not just what is printed on that report.

  4. Sam1, there's a mud boggin' coming up at the Cheatham Co. fairgrounds (or maybe it was last weekend). You should show up with your ride.

I think they would frown upon borrowing a $3mil vehicle for an unauthorized project lol

  5. Think that's what he is wanting to do, from saying he was gonna scuff it up with steel wool. My post was probably confusing because most people think polishing only makes things shiny, but we refer to brushed and matte finishes as polished as well... Just makes it easier.

On a flat surface, nickel plating will look almost identical to chrome except it holds just a bit more light

  6. if they are small I wouldn't mind to polish them for you for free, it should only take a few minutes. Obviously the polish isn't going to last as long as plating though even if I seal them.

the only thing I don't want to do is mess with pieces that have a lot of holes or crevices because it takes so long to polish that stuff.

  7. So are you also disabled?

    Dolomite

have almost 11 pounds of rods, plates and screws holding me together. I had so many broken bones that they didn't find one severe one until 2 months after my accident. This xray was taken in July, and my accident was back in May. The therapist kept telling me that the pain was normal when I said there was something wrong with my arm... Unfortunately I listened to her advice instead of talking to the surgeon again.

    here's my hip

    img06015c.jpg

This is the stuff that was in that xray, they had to remove it and install different parts because they were incorrectly installed and were the wrong degree of angle

So.. yep, I'm technically "disabled" but I usually don't even mention it to anyone because people start thinking that they need to cater to your needs and stuff (they usually just think I had knee surgery or something light since I walk with a cane). I may have to work twice as hard now, but can still pump out the same amount of work as before the accident.

Before this I never understood how people like David's friend could do what he does, but after being in the situation you understand that giving up and going on a pity fest is just not an option that would even be remotely considered. If anything, it causes subconscious dedication to show everyone that you can do it just so they don't think differently of you.

  9. Need to find somewhere to take the vehicles to get cleaned up and was hoping someone could point us in the direction of a good full-service place. Not too fond of those quickie no brush washes at the gas stations, anyone have a recommendation? We used to go to the Simoniz places in Knoxville and really liked them, it was usually $20 or $25 to get the interior and exterior done so we're hoping to find somewhere close to that range if possible.

  10. When I was going through physical therapy last year, there was a guy that had the same schedule as me and we chatted a lot over it. Him and the therapist both said it wasn't a horrible amount of pain but it was aggravating because he couldn't move it any at all for so long, and once he did start moving, he did too much and something happened so he added another 2 months on to the recovery. The therapist said it's one of the longest recoveries you will have because of the soft tissue work

Just make sure the surgeon is good, and take that guy's advice.. Do not move it around and risk tearing anything after the surgery.

Another option would be to just have your arm amputated and get them to install a big hook so you can be prepared to tackle any zipline without needing extra gear

  11. Finally stopped procrastinating and went to the carry class with the wife (never carried one on me, but didn't know it was illegal to have it loaded in the glove box without a permit.. oops).

I was expecting a room full of mall ninjas and some gun crazy instructor that had never been outside of state lines and had a job as a security guard at a pizza parlor on the weekends, but the guy really knew his stuff and he had previous special ops experience and was stationed in Macedonia/Bosnia for a while (same places as I was). Granted this was stuff most of us learned as a kid growing up, he kept us from falling asleep and gave some good tips on practical use.

Think these guys were about the cheapest around, and luckily there were no asshats in the class today. Really happy with them and actually going to send the wife back there to do the level 2 at the end of the month. Also really liked their range, just wish there was one like that next door

  12. You know what I hate?

People who say they do.one thing and then do something different .

people who cant honor an agreement because they think making a few dollars more is more important than their word..truly pathedic!!

And people who take advantage of others because they are weaker or older...I hate bullies!!

Now tell me who wronged you and I let em have it..lol

    +1

But I do like the ones that try to sell it out from under you, then their sale falls through and they call you back a few days later saying they just "forgot". Sorry buddy, I forgot too and now the offer is 25% lower.

  13. You can donate your old cell phones to places like Safe Space or other battered women shelters. The phones are given to domestic violence victims to be used for dialing 911.

can also send it to cell phones for soldiers (http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com), program was started by two kids and has turned into a mutli-million dollar organization to get soldiers some free talk time via phone cards when overseas.

We should give the victims of domestic abuse a free class on how to pack a suitcase open a door and walk out.

  14. Know a couple of people but I never what/where they ride. I'm out in Nashville but have to work in Knoxville every other week for some things and I could get them to give you a call or get their number for you... One of them works in Knoxville, not sure where he rides or where his farm is at, another lady works in Clinton and I'm pretty sure her farm is in the county.

If you get way out east, my aunt eats lives sleeps horse stuff, she rides every second she can, we went riding with her last year and all the people she was around were extremely nice and helping us out (and laughing at me and the wife cause we had no idea what we were doing). I think they're in Bluffton SC, can't remember the name of the place, but it's a good 4-5 hours running 90+ most of the way from Knoxville.

  15. Yep..AT&T is really bad for coverage....not sure how they can even compete with other cell phone providers..G

We never figured out how they cover 97% of the country but we were in the 3% not covered, 97% of the time... No matter where we were

  16. There was a woman up there partaking in that pretty heavily. She walked in by herself said she had abdominal pain, after they put her in a wheelchair and pushed her out to the hallway she was looking around and whenever a nurse or someone would come near she would start moaning but my wife was laughing at her because she started moaning like she was having sex not like she was in pain. I don't remember much of it but she said it was funny.

Just don't understand why people would want that kind of attention

  17. Hopefully someone will let him stay in a house for free, and maybe.. just maybe it'll be in an area where the HOA won't threaten to sue him for flying our flag from the the porch. Most people who do this kind of bull#### have never side how the rest of the world works, troops have been there done that and that's why almost every single one of them love this country so much when they get back.

I hope that woman's car gets stolen and when she calls 911, they respond with "sorry ma'am, we don't get involved in political situations you need to write a letter to your city council which meets next month"
