I'm wondering if some currently posted places will suddenly become unposted for the event because I have a feeling the potential lost of revenue will make some businesses become two faced.
Sadly, I'm wondering if the reverse scenario may be more prevalent... chickenSh!t places downtown that may be suddenly "posted" after years of not posting at all... I guess they'll be the ones missing out on the economic boost, so their loss, I guess.

Also, for out-of-towners, keep in mind that if you do visit a state park, chances are that you WILL see a "no firearms" sign which does not distinguish between permit holders and non-permit holders ... this is a holdover from a few years back when the law was changed, and the signs are very slowly being replaced as maintenance requires (and not before).
However, keep in mind that the signs in state parks apply only to non-permit holders, regardless of whether they contain the old or new wording. In other words, regardless of the signage, if you have a valid permit which is recognized in Tennessee, you are good to go in TN state parks no matter what the sign reads. Just be discreet so as to avoid questions or raise eyebrows of the un-informed.

If that passes, that is good because it is legal to carry in a lot of statehouses across the country.
As well it should be.
Bless her heart, If this becomes law with the statehouse amendment intact, poor little Sherry Jones will be cowering under her desk for the rest of her term of office.

My thoughts are that he probably thought he could bluff the majority into reneging on the bill with this amendment, but they called his bluff.

Now this is hard to believe!!! A democrat adds an amendment allowing HCP holders to carry guns at the State Capitol???
Not hard to believe at all, in terms of wanting to torpedo and sabotage the whole thing...
EDIT: looks like I have to eat crow on this one... it seems like the senate called Yarbro's bluff and passed it with the amendment intact! Now back to the House... I think it will probably pass with the amendment intact, then we'll see what our "Rebuplican" governor is made of.

This late in the game, I doubt anyone would rock the boat with such an amendment, but stranger things have happened.

I'd be fine with my p238 with no safety, it has a 7.5lb trigger pull and I carry it in a proper holster. I find it no more likely to go bang than any of my sigs without a factory safety. I was taught to not pocket carry loose guns because it's dangerous. That's what pocket holsters are made for.
I don't have a problem with firearms with no safety. None of my DAO pistols have a safety, and none of my revolvers have a safety. My problem is with the combination of single action only w/ a hammer on a semi-auto pistol. The only truly "ready" "Condition 1" status is with the hammer cocked & locked-- and you just can't carry it that way without good safetys. If one has to use the firearm in a defense situation, there is an extra step to cock the hammer before you can fire. You'd be surprised how many seasoned shooters will do this in a pressure situation-- draw, aim and attempt to fire while failing to cock the hammer. If you choose to carry with the hammer down and safety off, I have no problem with that either as long as you can remember to cock before firing under pressure.
A real-life situational threat (speaking from experience) is very different from either the range or quick-deployment bedroom practice. The less steps your brain has to process, the better off you are. I still prefer simplicity of draw, aim, squeeze trigger, repeat.
The double safety design on the 1911 allows for safe cocked & locked Condition 1 carry, the P938 does not.
But like I said before, if you're comfortable with your ability to carry with the hammer down on an SA-only pistol, then I tip my hat to ya. And +1 on the pocket holster. Nothing worse than getting loose tic-tacs stuck in the barrel and pocket change lodged in the trigger mech. :)

Just a word of caution, if you were to accidentally put it In the half-cock position it will fire with the the safety engaged. I can't believe they let them leave the factory this way. Other than that, and the price, they are a fine piece.
That's my biggest problem with the 238 / 938 series for concealed carry. Without the benefit of a 1911-style grip safety, there is no truly safe "cocked & locked" mode (1911 style). This is a bit disturbing for an SA-only pistol. The thumb safety is tiny, and can be easily disengaged by casual contact with foreign objects, such as car seats, and there is no grip safety to back up the thumb safety. Not a fan of the Colt Mustang (as a primary CCW) for the same reason. I much prefer DAO or SA/DA point & fire simplicity, where I don't have to futz with a safety or a hammer when time is of the essence.
So, if carrying as a defensive firearm, you either carry with the hammer down (safety off), or you take your chances with the half-cock mode. But if it works for you, more power to ya.
Even so,I do have to agree that the P938 and the P238 ARE fun to shoot.

Harwell is the weak link... She is ripe for being put out of a job, it wouldn't be too hard to successfully challenge her the primary by going hard right, but we'd loose the seat in the general election. But honestly I think it would be worth loosing the seat.
I would lose no sleep over giving Harwell's seat to a Dem as long as sanity prevailed and the Dems were still in the minority. She's been involved in Tennessee politics since the 80's... I could go the rest of my life without ever seeing her in any office ever again.

I think it might be about time that these people know many of us that just put in office let them hear from a lot of us and let them know just how fast we can take their job away come next election. I honestly don't think these people think we are watching and paying attention to what they are doing. If Necessary maybe a few petitions sent to the letting them know we are watching if letters don't work............jmho
Unfortunately, this approach has practically ZERO effect on people who are immersed in their own self-importance and sense of superiority-- which describes the current leadership oligarchy.
Anything short of a political bitch-slap (losing an election) is ineffective, and we just missed our opportunity this last cycle.
Get used to it, at least for the foreseeable future. As long as RINOS call the shots, we will be fed occasional crumbs of "feel-good" gun legislation just enough for them to proclaim how pro-2A they are come re-election time.
We were incredibly lucky that the knife legislation went through last year... honestly, I think the bulk of them didn't even read it.

I have the Rossi in 357, and the Henry in 22. The Rossi action functions just fine, but is much clunkier than the Henry action. Keep in mind that I haven't done any of the cowboy tricks to slick the Rossi action, it's pretty much stock-- I understand that an aftermarket spring set is purported to vastly improve the Rossi, but I just haven't gotten around to trying to trick it out. Not a real big fan of the Rossi loading gate design either, but it still shoots well, so overall I can't complain too much based on what I paid for it vs. the cost of the Henry in 357.
Even so, I don't see how it could ever be as good as the Henry action which is super silky. My plan is to ultimately trade up the Rossi for a Henry in 357, but that's down the road a bit.
The 357/38SP lever action carbine platform is such a great all-around concept-- fun to shoot and a good go-to rifle in a SHTF situation due to the combination of ammo availability, potential stopping power (w/357HP), overall weight, and relative portability of a reasonable amount of ammunition. Much easier than hauling around a shotgun and a bunch of shells, and more effective than a 22 in a crucial defense situation.

I have never shot mine until it hurts and kept up with the round counts. I may do that this w/e if the weather stays nice. I was actually gonna comment about what a bunch of wussies we were but someone beat me too it.

I too would equate the recoil to a lightweight 30-06 with a steel butt plate. Not unbearable by any stretch, but not a rifle you'd want to fire a case of ammo through on a Sunday afternoon either.
Yup... whenever I take one of my Mosins to the range, I can manage 20-30 rounds tops before my shoulder tells me that it's not fun anymore. :stare:

Maybe we need to do like Colorado did and do a recall on Haslam. If our elected officials are not doing what we hired them to do then maybe its time they look for a new job. I think this would be a wakeup call to those under him to
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that we do not have a recall option in the Tennessee Constitution.
