Just when I thought that being a lefty kept me safe from the lure of Willis68 and all his ProTechs that so many of you have fallen victim to, he suddenly mentions that there is a TR3 SWAT in left hand that just so happens to be on its way and could give it to me for a steal. What's a guy to do?! Treachery I tell ya!!
On a serious note, thanks to Willis68 for an awesome blade! Just bad for me that I now have ANOTHER excuse to buy more (sure this won't be my last!!). Great guy and I can see why he is so popular!

If you're just looking for plinking ammo, Freedom Munitions both new and reman is about all I use exclusively for range ammo. My glocks love the 9mm and my 1911s eat the 45 like candy. If you catch their free shipping deals, they're hard to beat. Outside of them, look for sales from Palmetto State Armory (especially around ANY holiday) and Target Sports USA if you're buying bulk (free shipping)

THIS!!All of the sudden I feel a need to own a butchered up M1 carbine if I could find one in the $300-400 range.

I'll 2nd the Remmy AAC-SD. Love mine and if you want to think aftermarket, there ain't more out there than there is for the 700s. I also agree though that the stock is crap on this model but I ditched mine for a Bell & Carlson Target Medalist and it became one helluva shooter!Of the two you originally mentioned, I would also go with the Savage. I have never owned a Savage, but the few I have shot really did shoot well.
Although it has not received any mention and I know there is some hate for them, my 308 is a Remington 700 AAC-SD. My only complaint about it is the stock is not as solid and rigid as I would like, and I don't have a suppressor to screw on the end of it.
As for the stock, I recently filled the butt of it with lead and silicone. It gives the gun a better balance, and it keeps the stock from sounding hollow. I have not shot it yet, but I suspect it will tame the recoil a hair. Regardless of what you decide on, you may consider doing the same, especially if it is going to primarily be a range toy.

Congrats on the Benchmade knife. After getting my first quality knife I knew I would never carry an import again. Be careful. Good knifes can quickly be become an addiction.
Yup, your right about the addiction part. Already looking at the Auto APB for my next one!! Lol

Can't go wrong with that. Benchmade is great quality, and the mini grip is one of their most popular. But now, you gotta get some Spydies, ZT's, Protechs, etc. Can't be having just one good knife. What if the zombies come? :)
Very true!! Got the go bang stuff for the undead, but definitely need more sharp steel!!

**UPDATE - thanks to all for the advice. Based on a few reviews and feedback just placed an order for the Benchmade mini griptilian. Hopefully first knife in a life of many! Thanks again TGO!!

Thanks Mike .357. To be honest what really got me thinking about all this was Willis68s post about the Protech TGO punisher. That thing is bada$$! Good to know from one lefty to another on that particular auto opener

So, been thinking about an EDC knife but will be the first to admit I don't know jack about what I'm looking at/for. Can someone point me to some good resources or possibly help me out on answering a few of the questions below:
1) I see a lot of knives listed as auto opening but from research I've done, aren't auto open and switchblade the same (again I'm ignorant on this subject) and if so I thought switchblades were illegal in TN
2) Couple of my buds carry assisted opening - what are pros and cons?
3) being a lefty, most knives are set up for right hand operation. Any recommendations on ambi?
4) brands/price range to look at for first EDC (use would be general utility, last line of SD). I don't mind spending $ for quality.
Thanks for your help and sorry for the very general questions but again, don't know much about this subject.

Just FYI for anyone in Mid TN, I was at Outpost Armory about a week and a half ago and they had 500 rd boxes (5 100rd trays) of CCI standard velocity at around $40. I will say it was on a Monday when I was there so sure if you went on a weekend they wouldn't have it, but they had a pretty good supply of that and the federal auto match 325 rd boxes (think that was $29.99)

Never had any problems with them. Buy almost all my 9mm and 45 from them. I did order some 9 Monday before last and just got the shipment on Tuesday but that is the longest I've ever waited

Welcome Wicked1911!! I'm sure you'll love this forum and the people on here are great. Like you, I came from an anti-state (pretty sure IL may have Mass beat, lol) and so grateful to be in TN. Been here now 15 yrs and can't imagine being anywhere else!

I can read, Mikey :). Those are first runs of a closely guarded secret. It's a product specifically for the US market.
My understanding was the G42s had to be built in the US due to import restrictions on non-external safety 380s. Same reason the Glock 380 has been around for years but to LE only in the states. Can anyone confirm if the 43 will be US, Austria, or both?

Guess I'll forget buying the stainless Weber Genesis and just stick with my trusty Weber kettle........until those freakin CA envirojerks come after charcoal!!!!

Your not the only one that has this problem for sure. I have sold several guns I wish I had back. Now days If I get ready to sell a gun I will get it out of the safe and leave it out for several days where I can see it often. That helps me make up my mind whether to sell it or put it back in the safe................ :2cents:
I gotta remember this next time I go to sell something!!! Of course then I'd never sell anything -
The Pour House off of 8th Ave S. Great burgers and more bourbons and drafts than you could sample in a year!!

Was thinking of ordering some as I use their 9mm and 45 (reman and new) and like it but had not tried their 308. Looking to see if anyone had good/bad/ugly experience with these.

That looks awesome!!!!
HK INSTIGATOR BY BENCHMADE

What I can tell you from what I learned as someone new to knives a year or so ago, there are about double the amount of options and opinions on knives as there are guns. There are a lot of good guys on here that will give you some great advice on what to look for and they're personal favorites but ultimately it comes down to what fits and works best for you.
After asking opinions and researching last year, I settled on a benchmade mini griptilian for my EDC, it was the perfect combination of good steal (154CM), good size (not too big or too small), and price point (around $80, not bad for a US made benchmade), but not such a high dollar knife that I'm scared to use it.
All this being said, this is one mans opinion, so my best advice is get something, try it out, if you don't like it, get another, and another, AND ANOTHER! (I have noticed due to their somewhat easier to swallow price points, knives can be more addictive than guns, plan to have plenty!)
