Look at the Torey Pines thermal scopes. They are definitely cheap for what you get.
will do.

I got this one, the way I figure if I'm looking for something in the dark, I may want to shoot it.

that makes alot of sense. Glad I posed the question here. So are you using an external illuminator?

No experience with this product, but I think Optics Planet has great selection and pricing. I also think their website is pretty user friendly. My past experiences at point of sale and delivery exceeded expectations.
The downside is the very limited return window to Optics Planet before it reverts back to the manufacturer; OP is quite responsive advising you on how to contact the mfg'er once they're out of the loop.
Don't do what I did, buy now and end up testing it too late.
Ultimately got a replacement from the mfg'er, no harm no foul.
noted!

So I've got a gift certificate for Optics Planet and have been looking at thermal imaging for awhile now. Still in the heavy research mode. Not going to spend over 1K at this time...unless I can find good reason to increase my budget. That leaves me looking t the lower end of thermal products to be sure. Just wondering what if any experience everyone has w/ thermal products.
Any input and feedback on products appreciated. Here's one I'm keeping on the list.

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards the PTR as well. I do think Century is a better company now than they used to be quality wise.
I'm going to run it suppressed so it'll be a bit more ungainly than stock...but it's purpose will only be short field trips.

Looking at getting one or the other. Are there some here that can provide feedback on these rifles, after having owned and shot them for awhile?
Thanks

The suppressor will not interfere with scope picture, so chose ring height that allows minimum scope height above bore. The vortex matched rings and badger ordinance rings are nice.
thanks! I've got the Spuhr rings on the way. Excited!!!

Does anyone have experience with this mount on a rifle like mine? I'm wondering if the comb will offer enough adjustment down for an acceptable cheek weld. Scope is 2.26" OD, leaving .1" of clearance (not counting the fact that there is no rail at the forward end of my rifle) for the scope to clear.

Hi all. I've picked up a Ruger Precision Rifle and a Vortex Viper PST 6x24 to 50mm scope. I need a little assistance selecting rings for this setup. I've never really put something like this together and have little experience mating scopes to rifles. I've read that the RPR has 20 MOA build into the rail. I also plan on running my Socom 7.62 suppressor, and want to clear this in my field of view.
Would this set of rings be appropriate? http://nightforceoptics.com/accessories/ultralite-magmounts. Or recommendations on others that are more functional?

So a group of us here in Memphis were talking about becoming Constables and looked into the HR218 allowances. Looks like the legislators have ruled that Constables don't fall into a category that would allow HR218 carry, but I did run across an interesting provision for towns having between 11,100 and 11,200 people. Anyone know where in the world this came from?
"Any duly elected and sworn constable in any county having a population of not less than eleven thousand one hundred (11,100) nor more than eleven thousand two hundred (11,200), according to the 1970 federal census or any subsequent federal census, and being a county in which constables retain law enforcement powers and duties under the provisions of §§ 8-10-108, 40-6-210, 55-8-152, 57-5- 202 and 57-9-101, are authorized to and may carry handguns at all times and may equip their vehicles with blue and red lights and sirens. The sheriff of such county shall issue a written directive or permit authorizing the constables to carry a handgun; provided, that each constable has completed the same eight-hour annual firearm training program as is required by this subsection (a) "

know exactly what you mean. Aside from my M1, my AK is my favorite gun to shoot.

The choke is fixed. I wish it wasn't...it's still a beautiful gun.
So it's confirmed...This brings to mind another question. If I can't shoot steel shot, I guess there's a ready supply of lead for target and hunting? I want to shoot bird and clay with this gun. Going to look at alternatives on the Google now.

Hi all, I picked up a Browning A5, and am finally getting time to shoot it. I recall reading somewhere that you should not shoot steel shot out of these older A5's. Not being very experienced with shotguns, I'm here to ask the experts.
Here's what I've found on the internet. Would like comments. I bought 100 rounds of #6 from Walmart, but have not shot any thru this gun yet...thinking I will use them elsewhere now if this is really an issue.
“DAMAGE: In not all, but a number of instances a very slight ring will develop about 1-1/2" to 3" rearward of the muzzle. This ring is about .005 of an inch above the plane of the barrel, completely encircling the barrel. From our tests, we could determine no adverse effect on pattern or shot velocity because of this ring. Our conclusion is that the most significant objection, the slight ring, is entirely cosmetic. This 'ring' effect does not affect the function or safety of the firearm.”
I cannot speak for other individuals, but I know I have no interest in buying or shooting a shotgun with a ringed barrel, cosmetic or not. Steel and fine shotguns do not mix well; steel and vintage shotguns do not mix at all, as far as I’m concerned.
With the intermittent, unreliable availability of bismuth, there are only two viable choices for those seeking to protect vintage barrels while using no-tox shot today. They are Kent Tungsten-Matrix shotshells and the recently introduced Hevi-Shot “Classic Doubles” loads. Of the two, the Kent loads are closer to lead in density, 10.8 g/cc (lead considered 11.0 g/cc, showing as 11.35 g/cc on the periodic table). Both shotshell types are reviewed elsewhere, with the Kent shells being the current best of breed.
This is not meant to dissuade you from steel shotshells in modern screw-choked shotguns specifically designed for their use. Hopefully, it should give you a little food for thought before stuffing steel shotshells into an older, fixed choke shotgun that you want to keep in top condition.

I must be getting close. E-filed on 4/14. Will be 5 months exactly tomorrow. I am getting a bit tired of the wait. I expected a year on my last two form 4's, but I think 5 months for a form 1 efile is absurd.
Yea, but that's our government. Specializing in absurdity. My last batch was on the final day back in July, so I've got a L O N G time to go.

I'm in the exact same spot. Find myself just going back to to the old classifies envying those that can still post/bump their listings. I like the old view alot better because you can see alot more listings in one screen by text only. The images take up alot of space, and don't show nearly as many listings on a page.
I'll get used to the new system eventually...because I have no other choice.
