  1. i ended up getting the Scout model. i initiall got the full length Loaded model. i just dont think the socom balances correctly. just m opinion though. i would highly recommend a m1a to anyone.

Lets hit the range soon ... (MikeW from M14fl.com)

I am going to the range this Sat after work to test the M1A in the wood stock.

  2. Did they have the typical Dicks price tag on them ???? Or were they reasonable....

It was .45 shooting ammo for me. Remmington "ball" type. The price was better than I could find anywhere at the time (other than WWB at Wally World)

I'm interested in knowing that total bill as well...not to mention if you have a pic of the sales clerks face when you asked for 2 cases of ammo

The clerk was most helpful. Heck, it was his idea about the cases. "If you buy a case I can get you a much better price per box".

He made sure that I receved the "case" price at checkout.

I had my dad go up there after I got back to work to get me two more cases (the last two).

  3. Those look pretty cool! Are they fairly lightweight? I'm wondering if they might work without a belt...just clipped onto my jeans or shorts?

Also, do you know if he ever makes rigs for speedloaders or extra mags?

Anyone else have any experience with these? :D

I dont have one of these but they look like my Comptac CTAC for Glock 30 w/rail. I wear it without a belt and I can wear it with shorts without "issues".

They took down their Posting! Make sure you contact them and thank them and go spend $$$ there!

I work in Donelson so I went to my favorite "lunch spot" today, DARFONS. It was posted "no guns" so I disarmed, went in and cashed in my "rewards points card". I had over 1,000 points (a dollar per point) I asked to cash it in and they asked why I was not eating there today. I told them that it was due to their posting. They thought that I was kidding. I grabbed my gift cards that I earned with their rewards card and left. My company rents a room from them for our annual Christmas parties there every year... That will no longer be the case. I will hand their gift cards out to the homless family(man, lady, and dog) that I see in Donelson on my way to work.

I went around the corner and ate at Bar-B- Cuttie. I spoke to the manager on duty as I was leaving. I thanked her for them removing their "no guns" posting. I told her that she will be getting more of my lunch money in the future and that my company would continue to use their catering service for our in-house meetings.

  5. if your in Tn you can call the state and get all his wartime information.
Who would you call for that? I was under the impression War Records over off of sidco dr only has TN National Guard records.
I will assume he was given credit for four pacific campaigns possibly while a POW

who would you call? I retrieved my late fathers records but had to go through the Feds in St. Louis where records are kept. Also a lot of records were lost forever in a fire years ago. Not doubting you mind you, just curious how TN would have that info.

My dad sent off to get my grandfatehrs records from his WWII paratrooper service (507th PIR). After several months they did tell us that his records were lost in "the fire". They did tell us of another ribbon/medal that he was qualified for but never received. We are working on that now. It would be worth filing the paper work to see what is out there on the OP's grandpa.
