  1. the ledge across the bay window is fairly wide...I just ended up doing it the lazy way by laying a strip of heavy duty aluminum foil across the ledge anchored by small rocks...he's come once, didn't appreciate it and hasn't been back. I'll leave it in place another week in case he's trying to fake me out ...with my luck, he'll be back as soon as he sees me removing the foil
  2. thanks for the great ideas...will go into action today since I really didn't want to get up at 6:15 this morning I was even thinking lining the ledge with tinfoil so it would make noise when he walked on it ...I will say he keeps a regular schedule within 5 minutes each morning
  3. I have a 6' X 4' window with a 4" ledge above my front door...it is slightly tinted on the inside...for the past three weeks, a neurotic bird has been pecking at the window from left to right by hopping on the ledge...it's scarring up the windows with scuff marks and the noise is grating on my nerves he arrives at 6:15 every morning and acts like an idiot for 30-45 minutes...I whack on the window, he flies around to the back of the house to attack one of the bedroom windows..trouble is I don't normally get up until 7:15 I will say I'm up to here with it..looking online, all I see is recommendations from liberal asses that suggest that I appreciate him and enjoy it...well, that's not going to happen I don't want to cream him with a pellet gun because he's hopping around and I don't want to end up with a cracked window when I miss...Maybe a poison to lay out along the ledge...I'm not going to put up cdecals and stuff like that on the window because I don't want to look at anything but my window without a bitty-brained bird going at it any ideas on how to put an end to this without waiting it out? Thanks for any tips
  4. update for anyone who may be a future violator in Knoxville     I went to city/municipal court for a mandatory 9:00 appearance for 35/30 speeding this morning   ...about 9:10 the bailiff explains difference between guilty/not guilty/no contest pleas and when  your name is called to say which one...he calls through a couple hundred names where many were not there due to postponement, taking care of earlier, etc...I called out no contest   ...about 9:30 a lady comes out and has the 7 lawyers there representing people sign some form    ...nothing else until 10:10 when the judge decides to make a special guest appearance...maybe he was in chambers eating a T-bone and eggs...who knows   ...then they finally get the ball rolling...he takes the lawyers cases first so they can get back to their offices to fleece some more citizens...he knocks them out pretty quickly   ...by 10:35 he's ready to start calling us regular people up to face him by alphabetical order, of course...with my last name starting with a "S", of course   ...he takes a few "C"s then jumps to the "M"s for some reason...then it looked like he was knocking out the speeders first as I was next to a man with a tag issue with last name "C" and he had not called him when I left   ...then by 10:55 it's my turn ..he asks me how I plead...told him no contest/...he asked if I had anything to say...I told him that I had a spotless driving record for the past 14 years and would appreciate anything to be able to keep the 1 point and infraction off of my license...he looked at his computer then at me    gave me DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION for one month...said if I don't get any traffic violations for one month then it will be dismissed   ...of course I had to make a donation on the way out to the Policemen's Ball for $101.50 (court costs)   I felt like telling them that they should be paying me for getting started over an hour late...but kept my yap shut...and I will check my driving record in 6 weeks to make sure the violation did not mysteriously appear    I will say that the judge was nice and seemed to be doing all he could in the people's favor
  5.  "I will say this: If the officer saw your radar detector it is probably the deciding factor for you getting a ticket over a warning"     I agree on that one     it's going to be in city court   it was not in a school zone   thanks for all of the insight...after "reporting" to my mandatory court appearance, I'll let everyone know the outcome
  6. LawVol, it's in city court with the green citation   everybody, thanks for all of the tips and advice!
  7. hoping someone can give me some insight... I got nabbed this morning with my first speeding ticket in TN...KPD car nabbed me, according to him, going 45 in a 30...I did look at my speedometer after seeing him and it was a little over 40, so probably so I'm not disputing that...but he checked off that he got it from radar...I have a detector and it did not even blink, so who knows...but I wasn't going to question him nice man young enough to be my grandson came to the car and asked for my license only...did not ask for registration or insurance card...and went back to his car. So I knew he was coming back with a ticket came back and said that he was putting it as going 35 in a 30 and gave me my court date/time...no dollar ticket amount on the citation but stamped in red across the front is Summons To Court...   there is a number he scribbled in the Narrative section...looks like the number 4 and another number...I'm guessing he's notating where he actually nabbed me at 45 but officially listed it at 35/30i  so obviously I have to appear in front of the judge...I just wonder why he made a 35/30 as a mandatory court appearance looking up the code of 17-262 it's speeding 1-14 mph over for $116.50 and 1 point does anyone know what to expect at court...I'm guessing either plead guilty and pay and get 1 point or be stupid and claim I'm a victim of circumstances and was framed I have a clean TN license and haven't had a speeding ticket or any ticket in 10+ years...last one was in FL I'm guessing by pleading guilty I can take the online traffic school to avoid the point I did read where you have to get court approval to take the class I'm guessing that 1 point will fall off in a year with no other violations...is it worth taking the class for that 1 point, or should I save my class elective for a future incident (if there is one)...thinking out loud here: wondering if my insurance will be affected by a 1 point violation  thanks for any insight or tips
  8. I've open carried since I moved to TN two years ago...wouldn't have it any other way. The main reason I carry in that manner is for the comfort. I don't receive a paycheck to worry what other people think or say, so I just continue on with my life. To me, it is the only way to travel under most circumstances. I don't care how other people choose to carry, or even how well they pull it off...it's just none of my business...just as how I carry (and what holster I use) is no one else's business....what a lovely world it would be if people quit worrying about everybody else
  9. thanks y'all...the pressure has been lifted...long live Tennessee
  10. I'm unsure about the law and how it's viewed in the following situation...and it may not matter since open carry is allowed with a permit, but I'm not sure.  With a hip holster and wearing a shirt that does not completely cover all of the holster at all times.  Does it matter?  Granted, if I were to have the shirt on the underside of the weapon, it would then be considered truly open carry.  And if the shirt, at all times no matter what, covered the holster completely, then it would be considered concealed.  With a valid permit, either choice is okay.  But what about a sometimes "half and half" where, depending upon what you were doing, part of the weapon would be exposed.  Is that a big deal in that I would need to either have it completely one way or the other, or is "a glimpse" every now and then okay when pulling billfold out of pocket, etc.  I'm not wanting to get into the advantages/disadvantages of cc vs. oc, worrying about what somebody thinks, etc but just the legal aspect of it...thanks     edit:  I do have a valid permit
  11. I was born and raised in Upstate South Carolina, and lived there until I was about 30...then lived a few years in the late 80's in Denver before moving to the Armpit of America (also known as Florida) in 1990.  My wife and I moved to TN this past May, and I have no doubt that this will be where we'll end up dying when that lovely occurrence decides to present itself.  On a side note, my aunt and uncle spent their adult life working for Eastman Kodak in Kingsport, so east Tennessee has been a familiar area to me since I was born.    I currently own a 3" S&W Model 60, a Browning Hi-Power .40, a Springfield Sub Compact .40, a Walther PPK/S .380 and a Springfield XD-S along with a few assorted knives (which Tennessee's sillya## law seems to have a problem with me carrying around ...one of the few highlights of living in Florida was having hardly any restrictions on the type of "weapon" that was concealed)  I don't really have a single pistol dedicated to concealed/open carry, so it just ends up being whatever I feel like carrying at the time.
  12. obtained my first one in TN 4 months ago after my Florida one was heading towards its' 6 month limit after moving here...had one in FL for 9 years
