  1. Looking for a solid new gun for my bride to be. She currently carries a Walther P22 with CCI Velocitor HP's. She isn't really a fan of recoil or noise and its taken almost 6 months but I got her to shoot my XD9 the other day to see if she would like it.....she hated it.

Fortunately we were at the range with her parents and her mother had just bought a Fire Storm .380, she shot that as well and loved it. Said the 9x19 was too much but the 9x17 is apparently perfect.

So I turn to gun gurus here for some input on finding a .380 pistol on a solid platform. I've so far looked at: Fire Storm (of course), Bersa (very similar), Walther ppk (she already loves her current walther), Taurus Millenium (might be too wide), and of course the Sig 232.

Am I missing anything? Any opinions on the guns listed as far as reliability and quality are concerned would be very helpful as well. Also any recommendations for carry ammo would be great.

  2. Well if you go ahead and read my post again (also take note of the spelling of my username while you're at it) I said:

Not saying it isn't true just saying it's a little coincidental.

I'm not calling anyone out on anything, I'm also not overly concerned about what kind of gun it was, just saying it seemed odd is all. I'm already quite chill so I'll let you take that pill yourself.

  3. I don't want to doubt the validity of the Op but I am pretty sure I have seen this pic before on another forum back in the summer.

Anyway it is a good reminder to be careful.

I'm also skeptical about a guy named GLOCKGUY who just joined this month and has only 10 posts making a thread about a negligent discharge with an XD...

Not saying it isn't true just saying it's a little coincidental.

  4. Branket, you ever tried any mods on that Hot Rod? Is your Jackson a pre-Fender? Honer makes some very good stuff.

I didn't even know there was a modding community for the Hot Rod until yesterday when I googled it to see if Hot Rod was one word or two according to fender (couldn't remember how it looked on the amp), but I found a ton of info on it so know I'm looking into it.

I have no idea about the Jackson I bought it used about 6 years ago and it was probably already 2-3 years old.

For the $150 I paid for the Honer I couldn't be happier.

  5. Nothing too fancy but I don't play much so I don't need it. I have a Jackson Dinky that I play through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I also have a cheap Honer G420 acoustic that's made of Siberian Willow and sounds about as good as anything I've played in a store without paying 4-5 times what I payed for the Honer.

  6. If you want to join ORSA you will need a sponsor. Give me a holler and I'll be happy to sign your application for you.

Thanks for the offer I'll be in touch when I get enough time to get serious about joining.

Then you'll have to meet me on the 600 yd line of the 1K range and we'll see how them rifles shoot- offhand, using the irons. :D

That depends on the size of the barn we're shooting at :)

  7. Shooting it is addictive... similar to the boom of .357magnum. I'd be happy to let you try it sometime.

I concur. I only intended to put 100 through it but did 200 instead, and I knew I would after the first shot.

  8. Took my Christmas money for a walk and ended up with a another XD. This time in .357 Sig.

First 200 rounds went very smoothly it's as accurate as any other XD I've shot. Managed to get everything inside the 10 or X at 7 yards after I tightened up my wrist, the .357 kicks perceivably more than any other handgun round I've shot to date, but once I got my wrist tightened up accuracy was greatly improved. I made most shots in the 9 or better (2 out of 50 in the 8) at 15 yards after correcting the limp-wristing. It's a really fun round, just expensive. Luckily I've got some extra disposable income coming in after getting a new job.

I'd post some pics but it looks like an XD that says 357 on the side and I'm sure we've all seen an XD.
