  1. If its near Knoxville count me in, if it's in tri-cities I'll plan on coming but if there is any chance of weather being too inclement then I'm not going to chance a two hour drive that could end with either a) no one else showing up, or :) people show up but decide they would rather not shoot in a "snow storm" (a term I use lightly).

I've been to shoots at both locations and if this ends up as being two separate events I will still try to make it to both. But as said earlier most of the people who actually attend are from Knox/OR and if no one is willing to host in tri-cities or find a definite range to use then I see no reason why we shouldn't just stay around Knox/OR, unless of course no one can host/find a range here either.

  2. Hey guys,

Check out the ORSAIDPA.COM site and then click on forums. Mark Dye will possibly be offering a competition class in the very near future. His class will be for the beginning shooter up to "c" class in USPSA. Mark is a Master class shooter and will probably have help from a couple of other M/GM shooters. Check it out.....

Keeping an eye on that thread. I'm interested in the possibility of getting a lesson before shooting an actual match.

It will give me a chance to sort of see ORSA as well, since I'm thinking about joining next year now that I have some rifles that need to stretch there legs every once in a while.

  3. Alright I'm in the core! Although it hasn't felt like it recently, I suppose I was at the first meet back before Phantom's range was done. In any case I'm glad to be back, and I had a blast today. Enjoyed meeting some new folks and enjoyed shooting the AR for the first time.

Sort of dreading the inevitable posting of the sombrero picture but other than that I have no regrets.

P.S. I propose that instead of telling new East TGO members to drink the Kool-Aid and come to the meets we should tell them to eat the Doritos.

  4. Welcome from another west knoxer.

I'm alright with Coal Creek, I catch some crap for being young I think, even if I usually do know more about whatever I came in to look at than they do, or at least more than they want to talk to me about. I will agree that Tony is the most helpful guy there. I was going to buy a range pass until they doubled the price recently, so I'm glad to hear of another range opening.

  5. For various reasons I haven't OC'd much, but there have been MANY people on opencarry.org in the TN forum that haven't had any problems carrying openly.

    Umm, I was being sarcastic...

You see others were joking about how everyone would stare at him for carrying, so I just took it one step further. It's a delicate brand of humor and I hope this explanation helps some. (in case you can't tell I'm still being sarcastic)

  6. Like I said in the glock thread, I planned to buy a glock but it pointed horribly for me and my fingers didn't fit the finger grooves on the gen 3's. The guy behind the counter suggested the XD and it pointed perfectly and had no finger grooves and I was sold.

  7. Now I don't believe that would be an issue for me with any of the XD's larger than sub compact as the grip safeties on those seem to be a bit bigger? They look bigger but I haven't compared them side by side.

That could be true I have never held an SC, mine is a service model. I'll bring it to the East TGO meet and if you come you're welcome to try it out.

  8. On my XD you barley have to be touching the grip safety for it to engage...

Back on topic I can tell you why I don't carry a glock, I can even doing it without bashing them :panic:. The grip angle is completely unnatural for me, and in the case of the 3rd gen (the only ones I've held) the finger grooves don't fit my fingers correctly. If it weren't for those two things I would be a glock owner.

  9. that sounds like a great idea!! say...22 pistols? that way we wont use up alot of money, and we'll definitely have fun longer!

    :koolaid:

Well I traded off my beretta, so the only .22 at my disposal is Ashley's P22 which isn't the most accurate plinker but I'll give it a shot (pun intended).

  10. hahahahh the last time we played your game, it was me and branket...with a couple of 8mm mausers...

we never COULD get the ball to go very far...every time we hit it, it just vaporized..:koolaid:

Just about to post the same thing, perhaps we should try with handguns sometime.
