  1. I wear a set of Dickies coveralls with a 3D camo poncho over it. In fact, if the weather requires, I can wear a tank top and biker shorts under that poncho and still be invisible. One camo garment is all I really need.
  2. I'm off work from the 17th through 22nd, if anyone knows a good spot.
  3. I've not done a great deal of campfire cooking, but I am a classically trained chef and former 10th MTN DIV soldier. I'd love to get some practice "camp cooking."
  4. Never hunted hogs before but I'm a good shot, I'm geared up, and I love to camp. Count me in.
  5. +1 except that I'm in West Tennessee, but willing to drive.
  6. Walmart sells a box of 100 rounds of Federal .223 55gr FMJ for $39.97. FYI
  7. I hear ya. The Bush is a loaner from my brother. I wanted to put some rounds downrange ASAP, but I'm waiting for Obama to give me some of my tax money back to get some quality optics. The Bush may take a few rounds with the muzzle brake, but all bets are off with the CR ( conventional recoil) muzzle,
  8. Update: This baby shoots like a dream! Nice, tight groups; reasonable recoil (with muzzle brake); and everything fits together nice and tight. Got lots of compliments at the range too. Thanks for everyone's input and advice.
  9. I bought a six pack of Bass ale only to find one empty and another only 1/4 full. I chocked it up to technical difficulties at the bottling plant.
  10. How about we talk about brands to avoid? I've heard horror stories about Double Star. Anybody else have any thoughts?
  11. Just picked it up today. The owner of the store who did the FFL could not believe I got it for $375. There are a few scuffs on the stock, but the finish looks good inside and out. The seller even threw in a Plano hardcase for free. I'll post pics tomorrow.
  12. Range USA in Bartlett teaches several levels of Tactical Carbine classes. Good instructors there.
  13. Ruth's Chris in Memphis has an armed security guard on duty and I know for a fact that one of their managers keeps a sidearm in the office.
  14. Go to Natchez Trace State Park. It's little bit of a drive, but you can shoot for free and they have a 100 and 50 yard firing line. Closest thing I could find and I've been looking for a while now.
  15. Exactly what I did. Built a frankengun and learned a great deal, specifically what upgrades make a real difference and which are just cosmetic.
  16. I bought it. It's got some age on it ('95 build). But it seems solid. Don't have it yet. Being shipped from AL.
  17. This may be a naive question, but I'm curios if any reputable scope manufacturers make caliber-specific reticles scopes for other than .22 and .223/5.56mm.
  18. Thanks for all the good advice. I'll post after I make a decision, hopefully with pics of my new ultra deer slayer.
  19. I'd love to put the pricing controversy aside and get some advice on evaluating the rifle. Is there anything besides the obvious that I should look at before deciding to keep the rifle?
  20. Is there anything I should be looking for, besides filed serial numbers, in terms of wear and overall condition of the rifle? Is there a defect that would be hard to detect that I should worry about?
  21. Some might say that the price difference between a $650 CMMG Bargain Bin and a $2,200 Wilson Combat is considerable.
  22. It's being sold by a gun shop that's been in business for 30 years in Montgomery, Alabama; Gulf State Distributors. I seriously doubt that it's stolen.
  23. I'm looking to pick up my first bolt action and am leaning toward limiting cost by buying used. I think I've found a good deal, but I'm starting to get worried that it's too good a deal. Everyone I've talked to says the rifle I'm looking at should be almost twice the asking price I'm getting. I've been a AR-15 guy for years and know how to size one up. Are there any secrets to evaluating a used bolt action? The rifle in question is a Browning A Bolt II Composite Stalker with: BOSS system w/ muzzle brake .300 WIN MAG Leopold mounts Bore and stock in "very good" condition Lightly used overall.
