1. I called Taurus about my 1911 and they sent a FedEx guy to pick it up and return it, no charge. They absorbed it into the warranty and it was back in 3 weeks. Works like a champ.
2. Just to toss another question into this discussion. If I am carrying while lawfully trout fishing in a National Forest or WMA stream then would this apply? I understand what the guidelines are for National Forests and WMA's,This has been a very interesting thread to read.
3. When I want to have a better concealment for my Taurus 1911, I place my strong side holster on my weak side for a cross draw setup. Works very nice for me when I need this arrangement, and yes it is very comfortable.
4. Well if I am leagally and lawfully carrying, then I should be legal to carry in a federal facility. Or am I reading too much into this?
5. I came across this discussion at another forum and thought I would see what everyone thought about this over here. The general concensus is that no one wants to be a test case. Title 18, Part I, Chapter 44, Section 930 TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 44 > § 930 Prev | Next § 930. Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities How Current is This? 1111, 1112, 1113, and 1117. (d) Subsection (a) shall not apply to— (1) the lawful performance of official duties by an officer, agent, or employee of the United States, a State, or a political subdivision thereof, who is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of any violation of law; (2) the possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon by a Federal official or a member of the Armed Forces if such possession is authorized by law; or (3) the lawful carrying of firearms or other dangerous weapons in a Federal facility incident to hunting or other lawful purposes. Question: How does this come into play for buildings in a NP.
6. I know that there is no retreat but he is really bent on having to run away! I am also going to refer him to this board.
7. A friend of mine just went throught a HCP class and the instructor told everyone that they had to retreat to the rear of the dwelling if an intruder forced their way in, I tried telling him he was wrong but it turned into a polite argument. I will be printing the law and showing it to him, he took his class in Clinton.
8. Don't know if this is the right spot for this but it does need some attention. Copied from another site. ennessee Department of Safety has started sending out letters telling firearms instructors that "effective immediately" they are going to be required to complete and fill out a "roster" that has to be faxed to the Department of Safety within 24 hours of the class. http://www.state.tn.us/safety/forms/HGs ... 862408.pdf This new roster collects information concerning the weapons used in the class including the owner's name and the serial number. Other forms filed with TDOS (including the certification form) has the make, model and caliber of the weapon. Nothing in the statutes authorize or direct the Department of Safety to collect or require this information. I would like to gauge the public response to the collection of this information and whether it enables TDOS or the state to start collection records detailing firearms owners and at least some of the specific weapons owned by them. If you oppose this change, feel free to contact TDOS AND your state legislators. TDOS contact information in on the TDOS web site http://www.state.tn.us/safety/handgunmain.htm The main contact, according to the state's web site is: Contact Us: Lisa Knight, Manager 1150 Foster Avenue Nashville, TN 37243 (615) 253-5221 866-849-3548 (toll-free) John Harris Executive Director Tennessee Firearms Association, Inc. 9. We go to the Forge and Gatlinburg alot...I have carried openely and concealed, never had any problems. Before I started carrying regularly, my wife had an incident in Kodak, thought I was gonna have to whup two knuckle heads
10. I remember reading something that a knife collector would be exempt from alot of those provisions. This same subject came up at a discussion a while back and this was pointed out to me, so from that point on I am now a collector of knives. I will look and see if I can find the language again.
11. I have open carried with a shoulder rig at the BPO near Seiverville at exit 407 numerous times. I have not had any issues yet but I did catch a younger employee shadowing me once and yes he knew that I saw him. Made my purchases and left without incident.
