  1. This is the feeling that I got when I talked with David, he did mention talking with their attorney and also the insurance company. All in all it was a very nice polite conversation and like I said, he is aware of losing business due to the posting.
  2. There is already a posting for Bennett's and also the Alamo if I am not mistaken. Since additional remarks cannot be added to somone elses post in the prohibited carry section I was jst posting my finidings and results here in this thread.
  3. I finally made the call about the gun buster signs at Bennett's and the Alamo Steakhouse. I spoke with a fellow by the name of David and his comment was that due to insurance and liabuilty issues they have decided to keep their restaraunts posted, he also does not think that the signs would deter any cime. Although he has a permit he does aslos believe in his right to post his business. I guess we talked about ten minutes, he was very nice but to the point and listened to my view points as well. I also suspect that he may be reading this forum as well since he did say he had a permit, and he also knows that there are customers boycotting his resturants because of the gunbuster signs.
  4. I remember seeing an ad or position opening for the GSMNP for hog hunters a couple of years ago, I can't remember the particulars now but it was for a civilian to hunt hogs. What is the story behind the closing of Catoosa WMA and hogs? I was told that someone had been placing spike boards and such on the roads. I am not trying to derail the thread but just curious as to what the story is.
  5. Just bumping for reference since this topic came up in another thread.
  6. Tncobra noted over in the posted section about Bennett's, I was there today as well and noticed the darn sign on my way out. I did take a look around and I only seen the posting in the dining area and not the bar area. For those that do not know how the building is arranged. The bar area is on one end and the dining area is on the other end with the entrance being in the middle and an additonal entrance for the bar dining area. I thought that it was strange that they have posted in the dining area entrance well inside the restaurant and not the bar area, but there is a raised dining area to the left before the sign. I didn't have time to talk with anyone about the sign and I plan on doing so the next time I stop in. Maybe I'll take my meal in the bar area.
  7. Can you post a pic for the left side in the shadowed area? Are you wanting to get rid of it?
  8. You know, it appears to me that there are lots of gun buster signs and no carry postings popping up frequently now.
  9. "I've done a lot of hiking this year, and unfortunately there are still signs up at nearly every trailhead in the GSMNP. I'd like to see them come down because I don't want any misunderstandings with the ill-informed among us. " Thanks for the sign clarification JR, I carry open and concealed depending on attire worn or needed. I have walked by rangers and talked with rangers with not having any problems at all. My main concern is that someone could interpret the law incorrectly and then we will have a test case over these crazy signs.
  10. I never have paid that much attention to those signs until I was driving down the mountain on Saturday and I saw one. I know that all of these signs show a handgun as not being allowed among other things but it seems to me that I have seen them with the gunbuster sign. I will pay more attention next trip into the park and verify if I am seeing what I thought I saw.
  11. Federal law following state law. This is where I see a problem with the GB sign, I have been walking right pass the signs not even thinking about the new law that has went into effect until today.
  12. Ever since we have been able to carry in the Nationla Parks I have done so legally regardless of the gun buster sign at trail heads and other areas, except for the proper buildings. While knocking around in the Smokeys today it occured to me that the gunbuster signs could be seen as a legal posting now that the TN. law allows the gunbuster sign as a legal posting. Am I reading to much into this? What are the possibilities of getting the gunbuster sign off the books in the coming year? I am seeing those things alot now days and the places that were incorrectly posted under the old statute became legally posted when the law passed.
  13. First off it is not my debt...read the post. Second, without you knowing the circumstances of her having to file bankruptcy don't be pointing fingers. All I am trying to do is get my/her ducks in a row because this appears to be a sham. So if you were being sarcastic thats okay but I am not one for sarcasm. Again, thanks to those with helpful information. I will now returm to my corner with my back to the wall.
  14. Thanks for the information everyone. I/we are in the process of trying to find out just exactly what they are looking for. They are only supplying an account number of their own with no reference to a previous account, the attorney that helped years ago doesn't want to help her on this. I am going to pull a credit report on her later today and work on some letters for them tonight, and oh yes I am aware of trhe scammers. I had a problem with identity theft and still get strange calls from time to time.
  15. I have been searching on Michie's but can't locate anything about a limitation for debt old debt collection. The wife filed bankruptcy years ago and a debt reseller/collector has started calling her trying to collect on something that has yet to be disclosed. I found some info. saying that TN. has a six year limitation but wanted to verify in Mcihie's. I am thinking that they are just using scare tactics looking for money but I want to be sure.
  16. In the right corner of the door (I almost missed it) there is a small sign saying per 39-17-1359 no guns allowed except LEO's on official duty. So does this fit the substantially similar clause?
  17. Strange...I read this thread before going home yesterday and there he was! A black guy ,white shirt, black tie and black pants walking down the road towards my place. He finally makes to the house and my son sends him around back where I am working on the jeep with .45 in sight. He staes not to get my gun and would like to blah, blah, blah. After twice telling him I didn't want anything and as I was about to get very stern in telling him to leave, he asks me if it is because of him that I didn't want to but anything! Maybe I should have told him what I did with the travelling meat sales people.
  18. Guess I could have read a little closer at the begininng.
  19. So I go somewhere that has the posting referencing 39-17-1305, do I continue on or turn around? No gun buster signs or anything else, just the intention to notify of no guns allowed.
  20. I can count probably ten places that have the circle slash sign without even thinking very hard. I read over on TFA that someone incorrectly added this into the bill, if such is the case then why was it not proof read before being presented for discussion and voting?
  21. Burn some coal later today.
  22. Very good stuff....anyone see the seagull get clipped by the shock wave on the last video over the lake?
  23. Well I msplaced mine, post cards and reminder letters. Guess they will come a knockn one day. i called the toll free number and the message said to call back on 12 APR.
  24. Well, here is some law for thought. So what are anyone's thoughts on this and do we have a volunteer for the test? Subsection (a) shall not apply to - (1) the lawful performance of official duties by an officer, agent, or employee of the United States, a State, or a political subdivision thereof, who is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of any violation of law; (2) the possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon by a Federal official or a member of the Armed Forces if such possession is authorized by law; or (3) the lawful carrying of firearms or other dangerous weapons in a Federal facility incident to hunting or other lawful purposes.
