  1. How about suggesting an amendment to the bill or separate bill that would strengthen enforcement and penalties for criminals who are in possession of a firearm, and increase the penalties for committing a felony crime using or possessing a firearm? With an amendment like that it would make those who oppose Constitutional carry for law abiding citizens seem like they are not sincere about reducing crime, only concerned about the politics of their liberal anti-gun ideals.

  2. I have written my state representative and senator and ask that they support this issue.

EDIT:  My senator "Mae Beavers" was added to the list of sponsors today.

I need to get my email off to Littleton and Roberts, thanks for reminding me. I need to brew a cup of coffee first, I can write a better email on a caffeine buzz.  :)

  3. Yeah the only way to give away wood is if you cut it, split it, hauling to the their house and stack it up for them.  And you better not mess the yard up!

The way things are looking, someday people may be begging for some firewood.

  4. Been trying to give away some firewood, good solid oak seasoned 3 years, problem is everybody wants it already cut up and split. 3 big oaks lying on the ground free for the taking. You cut, you split though.  :)

  5. Registering journalists will lead to the confiscation of journalists. You can have my Liz Hasslebeck when you pry her from my cold, dead hands.

Heather Nauart is already registered as the hottest journalist.

  6. He made a stupid statement.  It's serves no purpose, gives opponents a punchline, and what's worse, since the article said he actually filed the bill, staffers from his office and the clerks of their legislature who all work for the state of South Carolina actually had to spend work time on this statement instead of useful things like I assume people want them to be doing while being funded by their dime.

    Yea whatever.

  7. SC State Rep. Mike Pitts wins the "Stupid of the Day" award for 20 January 2016.  Hard to take anyone who would resort to a sophomoric stunt like that seriously.

It was never intended to be taken seriously, it's called, "making a statement". It's pretty obvious what he was doing.

  8. I'd rather they fight to get a bill passed for proper classes and permits for first amendment rights too... I don't like a lot of what people have to say, and think some don't know much about their religions and all kinds of things that should be proven before they are allowed their rights.  It doesn't matter if its a right, we should limit it just to be on the safe side.

Ya know speech and religion starts/instigates more violence and wars than most anything else. Yo mama has a big butt, No, Yo mama has B.O. Fight starts. Muhammad told us that if you didn't follow him and his teachings we should kill you. Yep, to curb violence and deaths put heavy restrictions on the 1st Amendment. How would that go over with the liberal crowd?

  9. Well I don't have much confidence full Constitutional carry will pass, still not an excuse not to write your reps and support it though. Seems like they throw us a bone every year, it's a shame really to throw the people a bone to retrieve a Constitutional right they already have. Also we need to push removing the criminal charge of carrying past a sign, just make it a trespassing charge if you don't leave which protects private property rights.

Something will get passed this year and we will hear the usual gunfights in the streets nonsense, a few weeks go by and it's forgotten about.

  10. Here's some states that have carry without a permit.

Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Vermont, Wyoming, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma.

If there were a problem with that in any of those states I guarantee you the main stream media would be all over it saying, see, we told you so. Obviously there's been no problems with it.

  11. Did you forget that your fingerprints are on file and that you had to complete a full background check prior to receiving your permit? That bill isn't going to change anything for anyone. Whoever wants to carry is going to carry whether they have a permit or not, that's my point. Don't be afraid to see things objectively. I get your point, but you seem to trust people more than I do.

It's not up to you or I to say they can't carry because we don't trust them.

  12. I think you are misunderstanding, it is a privilege to be able to carry a handgun in the state of TN, not a right. If it was a right, anyone could carry a handgun. If you feel safe letting anyone in the entire state above the age of 21 who has a pistol (and legally owns it) carry that on them then that's fine. I don't feel that way, but I suppose I am only exercising my right to the first amendment.

I never questioned your right to express your opinion, it is your 1st. Amendment right just as it is my 1st. Amendment right to say you are wrong. It is a right, some states just infringe upon that right like Tennessee does.

  13. I think that carrying a handgun should be a privilege, not a right. I don't trust a lot of people carrying around a handgun. I feel like this would allow people that have no business carrying a handgun to carry whenever they want. This would allow "criminals" to legally carry a firearm??

UUUUMMM, are we posting on the right forum? To the second part, it will not allow felons to "legally" carry a firearm of any kind or to even possess a firearm of any kind. And who are we to judge who is responsible or not to carry a handgun? I know people, and i'm sure we all know someone who we "wish" didn't own a firearm but it's not my place or anyone else's to tell the masses who should or should not carry. That's punishing everyone for the idiocy of the few.

And, it's called the Bill Of RIGHTS, not the Bill Of PRIVILEGES.

  14. I think they have given new meaning to "re-inventing the wheel"

I just can get excited about this, or a poly single stack 1911.

Question is, what real advantage does it have over any other snub nose .357? So it looks different, well it's a 6 shot instead of 5 but I see snub nose .357's as a close and personal, a few feet, draw fast and shoot fast handgun. Fancy sights on a snub? Is that really an advantage? Maybe a few ounces lighter is nicer for carry but adds to recoil. I see a snub as a good weapon to draw and unload if you are in physical contact with someone, with your left hand busy holding back the bad dudes hand with the knife in a car jacking scenario etc. It's just my opinion, i'm far from being a gun or self defense expert but I just see the snub nose as it is. I like mine in certain situations, mainly when concealability is the issue and I still feel like i'm armed. That being said I go from one extreme to another carrying a snub sometimes to a Glock 21, just depending where I go and how I dress.

  15. Kimber k6 is just a fancy looking snub nosed revolver, not really impressed.

I think i'll stay with my little friend here and yes, I know it's loaded, it always is unless I clean it.

  16. Not sure about those, I usually hit up the regal places - either at opry mills or 100 oaks.  Is the one in Dickson any good?  It's a heck of a lot closer.

It's been a long time since I saw any movie there but it was a nice theater. The last movie I saw there was Red Tails about the Tuskegee Airmen so that tells you how long it's been.

  17. Ah, okay, I get it. Some Super Tuesday states, including TN,  jockeyed date around that one year. I thought we had always done it in March since the 70's.

Mea culpa, TrekBike and K191145, I should have researched before posting.

I figured Fred was going to drop out anyway, you could see that he wasn't really motivated, he only entered the race because of people begging him to.

  18.
You gotta be disremembering something or other?  He dropped out on Jan. 22 of that year.

Is this a collective past hallucination, or what? ;)

That actually happened, the very day I voted "EARLY" in Pegram, he dropped out the same day except I didn't hear it till I got home. He wasn't doing very well in the polls and I think he really didn't want to be in the race to begin with. Early voting starts several weeks before the primary.
