Some stores carry Buffalo Trace single barrel bourbon, but the store owner has to go to the distillery in Louisville to put in his order. Each store owner goes to the distillery and is allowed to sample five barrels. He makes his selection, pays for it, and stipulates how he wants it bottled and delivered. Each bottle has the barrel number on it and there can be a lot of variation from barrel to barrel. The standard Buffalo Trace is a blend of five barrels. Obviously we have such a store here and I've never seen a batch that wasn't first rate, but if you don't pay attention to the barrel number on the bottle you can get a real surprise. Very good bourbon.

All of my docs are personable guys who shoot, so we BS a lot about guns when I go see them. Heck, I know as much about their guns as they know about mine. But not one of them has ever asked me about gun ownership as a part of their treatment of a medical problem. I think they would rather kiss a Chiropractor than do that.

I have a 300 gallon hot tub that could sustain life if need be, and it has an insulated cover that prevents all evaporation. Our water is very high quality so all I ever need to put in the tub is occasional chlorine, which heat dissipates real fast. While that's happening I can live on the 30 gallon reserve supply in the garage and the 50 gallons in the water heater. We live in the country so there is no need to flush our three toilets - in an shtf situation we would just flush the bushes.
I too need medical supplies.

Just for your info, the FEG guns were imported by several importers, all but one of which used the FEG factory's model numbers - like yours for example. However the one that used it's own in-house model numbers was the Kassnar/KBI concern. Their model numbers were taken from the initials of the CEO's family members or for himself. Thus the GKK-92C is identical to your P9RK except for the finger grooves, despite having different model numbers. (MBK stands for Michael B. Kassnar, CEO of Kassnar/KBI, and the PJK-9HP was named after his wife, Pamela Jane Kassnar.)
Also, if you go to the Numrich website and want to look for parts for FEG guns, they aren't listed under FEG - they are listed under their principal importer, either "Kassnar" or "KBI" - two companies owned by the same family at different times. So you would click on the letter "K", then "Kassnar" or "KBI" - either one - then on the model number you are looking for. Now, some models will be listed under "Kassnar" and others will appear only under "KBI", so don't give up just because you don't find your model number on the first one you select. Go on to the other one. I had to do that to find the MBK - It's only listed under "Kassnar". You get the idea.
Another source of parts is the parts section of GunBroker and I believe the extractor assembly is a copy of the Browning Hi Power assembly, FWIW. Other than that I don't believe anything else in the gun is modeled after the Browning gun.

I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon doing just that......the thing that really frosted my buns was the trigger pin plunger and spring. They are so small but ya gotta have em....spent 15 minutes looking for the spring that was stuck in my shirt. Numrich has the spares I may need so I'm making a list of the usual springs and "consumable" parts. I usually replace pistol grips with something that has finger grooves and this one has them built in so the grips will stay...just need to replace those crappy sights. What I really need is a schematic/parts explosion page so I can see what goes where and how. Numrich does not have any 9mm specific parts (mags,barrel etc.) just the .45. I would love to have one of those lead slingers!
OK I think this may be the schematic you're looking for. It's for the full size MBK 9mm, which is the full size version of the GKK-92C, the KBI twin of your pistol. I matched up quite a few parts to the GKK I was working on, so I think it will work for your gun as well. FWIW.

Our Club rules call for commercially made glasses and say that one's regular prescription lenses will fill the requirement but contacts won't. Once upon a time I cashed in an old pair of glass readers that came in an expensive frame. I had my doc replace the reading lenses with uncorrected industrial safety glass. I've been using them for shooting for 25 years.

If anyone is looking for an excellent stand alone rear sight, RRA has just knocked $20 off of theirs. Purchase price is now $90 instead of $110. I just bought my third one and think it is the best milspec style sight on the market - even better than the LMT, which sells for $135. The RRA unit has two clamp screws instead of one and they are much neater looking without the usual huge clamp knob of the LMT and knockoff units. Here's the link.

I took it apart down to the bare bones this afternoon and got it back together again with no parts missing or left over pieces. That little trigger bar retention stud is a bear to see, keep track of and get back in. I'm liking this pistol more and more...may have to go the Ebay route for extra mags, even if they do only hold 10. Next is some quality leather...it came with a cheap nylon belt holster...have to dress this old girl up in some stylish skin. The grips are comfortable so they will stay...this gun is really well balanced. I will post a range report when I can get an afternoon to myself......work work work....I do like the rewards of overtime though....
Hang on to those factory grips ArmyBrat..........they cost $65 to replace and aftermarket grips are not made - period. You can find the factory grips at Numrich for that outrageous price I gave you. :rant:
Also, squeeze in on the tail of the extractor with your thumbnail. It should be hard to press in. If it's soft, the spring needs replacing. You can find them at Numrich or a standard BHP spring works well. The extractor is basically a copy of the BHP extractor and all the guns that use it have a problem with the extractor channel loading up with crud - I mean real bad, and FEG is famous for using weak extractor springs. So while you're in the teardown mood you might tap the extractor pin out, pull out the extractor and spring and de-crud the channel. It's an easy job.

I've been searching the net for them and they are scarce....somebody told me to get the S&W 59 mags and cut the mag stop on the mirror side from the factory cut...might have to if all else fails.
Well, I tried that and it didn't work. I did all the measuring and concluded that the new cut would run right into the old one and would be entirely too big - prolly even snag the spring. (S&W cut two notches into their mags - one on each side.).) If you just insert It all the way, it goes in too far, so the cut has to be in the same relationship to the top of the mag as the cut in the factory mag. That's where the idea unravels and gives you too big of a hole. And even so, the mag hangs down farther than the factory mag. Google it and see if you can find where a guy made a Beretta 92 mag work. That has a better chance of working IMHO. BTW the 10 rounders are plentiful on Ebay.

It's patterned after the Smith and Wesson Model 59 and is bulletproof. It's the same gun as the GKK-92C except for the finger grooves. The GKK was just the KBI version of it. Mags are like gold, so buy all you can find.

Well, if it has your attention, I'd start looking at the reviews. Del-Ton tends to hold prices down by doing things like sticking to the 1:9 twist rate, not plating or meloniting their barrels, etc, none of which affect reliability. Here are a bunch of user reviews of Del-Ton products:

No I've never held a Taurus CTG2. Currently the rifle I own is a ISSC MK22 but the S&W Sport looks great and isn't very expensive. What about the Del-Ton Sport Light
I've owned a couple of Del-Ton AR's and they generally have a very good reputation with their owners. From my experience with them, if a small company is going to produce a decent low cost AR that performs well enough for personal defense, Del-Ton is the one I would expect to do it. But since I've not owned the rifle you mention, here is a U Tube review by a reviewer of very good standing in the gun community. He likes it.

Well, if you're going to consider faraway clubs like Kettlefoot, you should also consider Cherokee Rod and Gun Club on the outskirts of Kingsport, which is quite a bit closer to you. For $95 a year you get two trap ranges, two skeet ranges, two rifle and pistol ranges (300 yard max on one, 240 yards max on the other) two archery ranges, 5 Stand, and a catfish pond. After attending a two hour safety walkthrough you're given a gate card and you can shoot completely unsupervised from sunup to sundown, with the shotgun ranges mandatorily closed at 10 P.M. On Sunday you can't shoot before noon and the rifle and pistol ranges close down at 5 PM. I've been there for 14 years and consider it one of the best recreational values around, although I have a lot of respect for Unaka and Kettlefoot as well.

...............................................................................The DPMS Oracle is a great beginners gun but if you plan on actually shooting more than a magazine a month, or if you will be relying on it to save a life, there are much better options out there. I have seen more problems out of Oracles than any other one gun. Not sure what a DPMS Panter is but anything DPMS, except the Recon G2, would be a last resort gun after I broke the handle on my shovel...............................................................DPMS has gotten a lot better over the years but I would avoid anything other than the G2 like the plague.
If I HAD to have an AR style weapon on a budget I would start with the S&W Sport. It has everything you could want in a budget gun. After that I would build my own paying close attention to the BCG and barrel specs. At a minimum you MUST have a melonited barrel if you want long term durability that is also impervious to corrosion............................................................................
I would not own, even if given to me, ANY of the guns on that list. They are all bottom of the barrel as far as quality goes except the VZ and see above about the VZ. They use proprietary, all of them, parts so finding spare parts for parts that commonly break is going to be an exercise in insanity...........................................................
Excellent advice. If you're going to hang in there with bargain basement rifles, make sure they have a good reputation with owners, like the S&W Sport as stated, and perhaps the very popular Del-Ton line. I would add my voice to the advice to stay away from DPMS products, given the high rate of dissatisfaction with them by owners, and buying a rifle that uses proprietary parts and assemblies isn't the way for a new guy to go.
If you will Google any rifle you are considering buying and ask for reviews, you will usually receive actual user comments from a number of sources, and to me, user comments and well-done reviews determine whether I buy the gun or not. Here is an example in the form of a review of one of the Del-Ton guns. I would add that reviews done by the traditional gun magazines such as Guns&Ammo and Shooting Times aren't always as critical as they should be, so study a number of reviews before making up your mind. (PS - I'm not recommending the Del-Ton gun in the review, I'm just using it as an example of what a well-done professional review looks like.)

There are a lot of folks who aren't citizens but who feel that way. I was in the 7th Army in Karlsruhe and Augsburg in the early 60's, and it was policy at that time to immediately draft all male legal immigrants of draft age In their first year here. So in my outfit we had Manfred Buerkle from Germany, Antonio Hurtado from Ecuador, Matti Luhtala from Finland + 2 other Finnboys whose names I can't recall, Snanouge from France, a kid from Cypress, Lopez from Mexico City, John Pence from Scotland, and a couple of Texans. :pleased: And this was just a small 125 man detachment. I would have trusted these guys in combat just like anyone else. They weren't citizens yet, but they were darned sure devoted Americans. (The rate of exchange was 3.86 Deutsche Marks per Dollar, and a 0.9 liter bottle of beer on the economy was a Mark. Gas was $1.60 per liter. I was there from 1961 to '64.........er....AD.
