Sometimes illegal is a sick bird. I think this is one of those times. IMHO. :pleased:

........................................As for the guns... would they be treating it the same if he'd had 1200 pairs of shoes? I bet not........................ Only if you can figure out a way to pull an armed robbery with a pair of shoes.
.........................................................Oh, and one last thing... Would anybody here be okay with the police setting up shop at your local shooting range, and checking the serial number of every gun that comes in there to make sure it wasn't stolen or been involved in a crime? Oh, and also verifying how/where you got them?...............................................This question has absolutely nothing to do with the subject under discussion.

LOL. Maybe you should submit this to add to the story.
Thanks for the suggestion.

The last paragraph pretty well sums up their reasoning.
""We have a lot of work to do," Smith said. "Running the background, history and legality of these weapons is going to require a tremendous amount of time. It's not a crime to have a large number of weapons so long as they were legal to own and legally obtained. We want to make sure that's the case."
In police work, you look for the different or the unusual. Here we have both. The Police have a large enough number of guns that the guy could have been in the back door gun business, or supplying them to the criminal elements of the U.S. or Mexico, or he could have stolen them. LAPD would be irresponsible not to check the legality of each and every gun under these circumstances. Only a stupid rookie asking to get fired would have released them to relatives without checking each and every one of them beforehand. I've known some stupid cops, but I've never known one that stupid.
As for the confiscation of the guns, if LAPD just left them locked up in the house and one of them wound up at the scene of a Border Patrolman's murder, well, you see where I'm coming from. They had to secure the guns from both theft and misuse. Responsibility to the public safety demands same.
No big deal here. Routine and unavoidable police work done in good faith as far as I can see.

I never said or did anything to dishonor the flag and I lowered to half-staff only when the Governor said to do so. I'm not on Federal land and I don't have to wait for obama to make up his mind, and do the right thing. I also disagree with you, it is about obama and his disrespect of the flag, our troops and the United States. Sorry for the  but I'm tired of this so called leader and his B.S.
Now, after all this time he finally gave the order to lower the flag to half-staff, Sorry, too little too late.
Worse than too little too late, y'all. He waited five days to order the flag to be lowered to half staff in honor of five fallen soldiers, but waited less than a day after the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage to light up the entire White House like a rainbow. Wow. Words fail me on that one - and that's prolly a good thing.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am tempted to put a carry handle on it, or the UTG.
Here's the best of both worlds - a UTG carry handle sight. This is the best price I could find on one.

Well......, Barry Hussein is going to address the VFW convention in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
I trust the membership in attendance will take him to task over his lack of Leadership!
That's like taking a bird to task for having wings.
-
Yes, the UTG is pretty much a copy of the LMT unit, which also has one clamp. The RRA unit has two. The LMT unit sells for $135, the RRA for $99. DPMS makes one too, but I've seen a lot of criticism of it.
-
I think a lot of this UTG sight. I've had two of them and have found them to be very well made, so well made I have trouble finding any qualitative difference between it and the LMT and RRA units it resembles. Their adjustments are crisp and solid, and their click values accurate. If you'll go to the link you'll see there are 434 customer reviews with an overall rating of about 4 1/2 stars. At under thirty bucks I think they're a steal.

Typical liberal stunt.

Yes, and if everyone goes elsewhere to buy their stuff, the City Council has just put all the gun shops in town out of business. Mission accomplished.

.....and you guys thought California was bad!

Thanks y'all. I cinched the tube into a vise padded with leather after lightly drilling out the staked metal and the nut loosened right up after one light-to-moderate tap on the wrench with a hammer. The tube is undamaged, as is the nut. Thanks again.

I'm not sure how high the violent crime rate is with our senior citizens, but I can't believe it's a big concern. :shake: :shake:
Guys, our country is run by fools.
Yep. The inmates are running the asylum for sure.

Well, I guess if the President can't handle Iranians yelling "Death to America" in the streets, disabled American gun owners will do. It appears that's more up his alley anyway.
-
If a member of the United States Armed Forces, especially one that is extensively trained in the use of small arms, cannot safely handle a pistol in public, then there is something radically wrong with our training establishment. I don't think for a minute that this is any more of a safety issue than for a police officer to carry one. Give them the damn guns.

I wish there had been someone with a concealed carry permit in the parking lot at the recruiting center this morning. They might have saved 4 Marine lives, by returning fire.
Yeah, it's this kind of stuff that keeps me carrying full-frame big autos instead of J Frames and PPK's. Actually I've often thought of carrying an AR in my truck, but haven't convinced myself that I've worked out all the problems with doing that. We'll see. With my luck, as soon as somebody saw the AR I'd be misidentified as the shooter and get shot by responding police.

..................................... Not sure what they have to rent, but heard several full auto mag dumps while there this morning.
.......immediately followed by the sound of large bills hitting the counter.

That's ok Moped. They're only open on Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 PM.
-
Has anyone nailed down the weapons used yet? All I can get is there were a number of firearms.
-
..........................................................What I'm kind of hoping is one of these terrorist(s) try this where a bunch of folks are legally carrying concealed weapons. If said folks have a modicum of training and grit things would be interesting.
Me too, Neighbor. But with a handgun prohibited sign on the front door where the attacks occur, it isn't likely that will happen - those people know how to read a sign announcing the area as an unarmed victim zone. I'm sure they also know our servicemen aren't armed in CONUS.

Widener's in Johnson City has the Anderson Multi Caliber stripped lower receivers on sale for $37. The 5.56mm unit is $43. If you happen to be in JC on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon between 3 and 5 PM you can go in and pick one or some up. I got a "multi" unit out the door for $51 including the background check. The darn thing is absolutely perfect. These are conventional lowers, not the ones with the built-in trigger guards. FWIW
