  1. Charlies in Oak Grove, KY (near Ft Campbell) has the absolute best steak I have ever had, hands down. You can't go wrong with the man sized sirlion or the King of Clubs, both 2 inches thick and hang off the plate. I know it may be out of your way, but worth checking out. Their number is 270-439-4592.

  2. I believe the Natural Rights of property are equal in measure to all other Natural Rights.

But I question those who want to use their property rights in order to squash any other Natural Right.

During the dark era of Jim Crow here in America, such property right claims were used, and supported by the supreme court, by property owners to keep people of dark complexion from eating or even entering their establishments.

To me, this position by employers and their parking lots is not really any different then what was openly practiced during Jim Crow. They are claiming security is increased by failing to simply recognize the Natural Right of the individual.

They should thereby expect that their "presumed" right to their property may soon be taken from them in the same manner which they unjustly strip away the Right upon the individual without "due process".

Whenever liberty and security clash, liberty should be in the favored position, the default position, the presumed position.

The problem I see with that logic is, you cannot choose the color of your skin, but you can choose whether or not to carry a firearm. Like canyn said earlier there are other options besides a gun.

  3. My wife got her renewal about a month ago after sending it in back in July. I on the other hand renewed in March and just got mine on Tuesday.

I called after my wife got hers to see what the hold up was since I started the process over three months before my wife. The lady said TBI was helping with the background checks now so the wait time should be significantly shorter now. It just happened that my wife's renewal was at the top of the stack sent to TBI.

It was good to hear that they were trying to get the permits out faster though.

  4. I understand your position, employers have lot of control. But it is time to put a fine point on this discussion.

Imagine an employer has a rule: No guns at work. But they'll pick you up in a limo and pay you a million bucks a year. The driver is a former seal and carries not only 3 10 mm pistols but a tactical shotgun. The car is armored and has 50 caliber machine gun mounted to the top. The machine gun is manned by the best heli gunner in the world. Plus, there's breakfast in the car. Not that the food has anything to do with it but, geeze, if they are paying you that much...

So you've got choices. You can either take the job and give up your right or you can get fired for carrying. I'd go the job route.

And that is exactly the same question when it comes to any job. You are being asked if you are paid enough to not do something (a gun in your car) that you'd rather do. You have to decide what that is worth to you.

If you still think the company is treading on your freedoms try using your freedom of speech to dog out the boss. You'll be able to say it and you can join me in the hunt for work tomorrow.

then you dont have a say about what I do in your yard?

Now we are getting to some common sense.

Seems, half of the people in this thread are as bad as the people we rant about everyday taking our freedoms away. But, when it comes to their perceived freedoms they can tread on others real freedoms because "the Constitution says I can". Folks go back and read the Constitution see how it applies. I would bet the majority of people have not read their Constitution since being in school.

  5. An employer is just that, and that alone..AN EMPLOYER.They have no special right to deny me of my consitutional rights at all.No..they CANNOT ban tire irons or gansta rap, they have to obey the law too.Just because a person,or a corporation opens a business, gives them NO RIGHT to start doing things contrary to the constitution.

If they dont like it,dont open the business, period. Where and who says an employers rights supecedes mine? My vehicle is MY vehicle, and it will be searched by NO ONE unless an officer of the law HAS A WARRANT. When an employer hires people,he hires them and their rights as well,my rights arent checked at the door when I clock in.

This law needs to pass, and soon.It is sorely needed.

You're dead wrong. Although I do like your passion and we need more people with that kind of passion.B)

If I own business or for that matter my house I most certainly can prohibit you from carrying a firearm, tire iron or gangsta rap on private property. Which most businesses are located on private property.

I can also request to search you car if I have a think you have prohibited materials in your car. You can then in turn refuse the search upon which I can then fire you. No ones rights were infringed you can still carry your gun just not on my property.

I personally would not ban guns from my business if I had one. But, we do need to let companies know profits will suffer. This either from lack of business or lack of productivity, due to their best employees leaving for more like minded employers.

  6. I hate this right on right violence!;)

On the one hand I'm down with the notion that individuals are entitled to carry weapons. You have a right to defend yourself and such.

On the other hand the employer has rights as well. If the employer wants no firearms on his property then that is the employers right, right? For example I have every right to stand on the street corner and spout my philosophy to those who use sidewalk. Incidentally my philosophy is that someone should sell me a mosin nagant in Knoxville and let me shoot hogs on their land, but if I did that in a Dunkin Donuts I would expect them to ask me to leave.

So this seems like a battle of rights, who has the right on private property? I would generally side with the owner of private property. It is, after all, their property. Just because it is my right doesn't mean I get to infringe on their right. You have the option not to work there so it isn't like your right is actually being taken away.

All that said, if they want you gone they'll find a reason and if you leave your gun in your car they will likely never know. I've never worked at a place that included car inspections.

Be smart and I'll bet you never have to worry.

I agree it is the property owners right to ban firearms in on their property. But, in many states your vehicle is considered an extension of your home and you may carry a loaded firearm permit or not in your vehicle. I am not sure how this would pertain to carrying a gun on your workplaces property, but it is a law I would like to see passed here in TN, rather than what is currently being proposed.

I think our actions as citizens could shape businesses policies on firearms in a more positive light than using the legislature to infringe on their rights.

If we as gun owners stood up for our rights at work like we do in the way we patronize restaurants and other businesses, we would see a big change in attitude towards us. If everyone challenged their employer about its firearm policy and walked off the job I believe we would see big changes. This would take huge cojones on most peoples part. I think many problems could be solved this way. Just my :2cents:

  7. Since we are talking about buying guns out of state the definition of residency comes into play. Here is the ATF's definition of residency. This is straight from the atf.gov and backs up my earlier post.

So, basically you could go to a state have a real estate agent show you a few houses, apply for a job at Mickey D's and you're set.:)

    My emphasis added in bold.

(B11) What constitutes residency in a State? [Back]

The State of residence is the State in which an individual is present; the individual also must have an intention of making a home in that State. A member of the Armed Forces on active duty is a resident of the State in which his or her permanent duty station is located. If a member of the Armed Forces maintains a home in one State and the member’s permanent duty station is in a nearby State to which he or she commutes each day, then the member has two States of residence and may purchase a firearm in either the State where the duty station is located or the State where the home is maintained. An alien who is legally in the United States is considered to be a resident of a State only if the alien is residing in that State and has resided in that State continuously for a period of at least 90 days prior to the date of sale of the firearm. See also Item 5, “Sales to Aliens in the United States,†in the General Information section of this publication.

    [18 U.S.C. 921(;), 922(a) (3), and 922(B)(3), 27 CFR 478.11]

  8. Also, if you are legitimately looking to move to the state in question no FFL is required. You do not have to move, but you must be actively looking at the time of purchase. I can't quote the law on this, but I am 99% sure this is the case.

  9. I was just in STL back in January and did some research for this purpose. From everything I could come up with you are good to carry in your vehicle and in restaurants. Here's a link to answer any more questions you might have: MissouriCarry.com FAQ

If you can avoid IL that would probably be best. I'm not sure if you can legally transport an unloaded handgun though that joke of a state.

  10. My wife started yelling LOOK, LOOK, There in the yard! I came running not knowing what to expect. They were within 20 feet of the house when we first saw them, but by the time I got the camera they had moved back to the tree line. Enjoy!

Moms a little bony, but I guess that's what 3 of them will do to you.

  11. I got my daughter one and my 1 week old son will have one soon.

I think it is a great investment even if they don't use it the money will still help the TWRA with conservation efforts. But, I'm pretty sure my kids will get their moneys worth.

  12. I renewed my permit last week at the DMV. First, the lady said I could keep my permit because nothing changed. When I told her yes it did, my address was different, she said I had to surrender it and use the receipt as my permit. Also, they made me take a new picture even though I just renewed my DL in October with a new picture. There was a sign that said everyone must take a new photo when renewing any kind of ID.

I say all this because I went back today to get my wife a renewal form and the lady said I couldn't mail it in. I asked why, she said she has to come back in for a picture. I think she is wrong and I will be calling TDOS tommorrow to verify.

If she is right I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the REAL ID Act or not. I saw some news reports where some states were not allowing you to smile because the facial recognition software couldn't process your photo if you did.

  13. I have a set of Lee Carbide 9mm dies. The decapping pin is broke. You can get a new one from the reloaders bench for a couple of bucks. These have been HEAVILY used, but will still load just fine. No shell holder. Sizer, expander, seater only.

I'll take the dies and pass on some .380 ammo and brass and a CTAC holster for a SIG 232.

Its not much, but seeing as .380 is so short these days and I don't have anything that uses it hopefully it will do someone else good. It's 8rds of Remington Golden Saber and about as many pieces of brass. Going to BrandonTN.
