A quick Google of the terms "NRA" and "compromise" are enough to reinforce my own decision not to join ... How's about we throw that zealous support behind an organization who bills itself as the "no-compromise gun lobby"? (Gun Owners of America) The membership numbers are very important, indeed ... and because of that - I, for one, will not allow myself to be counted as complicent with the the NRA's practice of "non-representative representation".

Could've easily done nothing (income being a fraction of what it once was), but instead I sent dues-money to the TN Firearms Association and am looking around at other alternatives as well.

One of the few "no" votes here ... They're a victim of their own success - they've grown as fat as the politicians in D.C. and are equally as conteptuous of the people they represent.

Consider this ... Those who get 'tapped' to do their 'duty' when and if it ever comes down to it - will be the newly formed civil militia (or whatever Rahmbo decides to call them) that will be made up of all those 18 to 25 year-olds soon to be required to 'serve their country' in Obama's brownshirts. ... is Daddy home - no ... is Junior home, will be the question. Personally, I think it will begin with attacks on ammunition and the ability to carry. Then, after re-election, we may see an actual gun-grab. Obviously, mature folks with ties to the community would likely refuse such orders ... but youngsters indoctrinated with warped 'patriotism' and financed & equipped as well as our military would be far less likely to make such a judgement call. Yes ... my tin-foil is showing & I wear it proudly! If the Obama/Rahmbo youth corps never gets off the ground ... well, in this 'new world order' globalist community we're being pushed toward, I'm sure the U.N. would be willing to donate some manpower to the cause. Anybody know what sculpture stands in front of their headquarters in New York?

Sorry to hear that, Tim ... hope you're not too disappointed. I lost faith in the NRA a good while ago - you're better off now, as far as I'm concerned. I did, however, recently come across the TN Firearms Association & sent in my annual dues ... looks like good work going on over there, from my initial scratching around.

Did the application & fingerprints on Dec. 24th ... Merry Christmas to me! So today makes three weeks. I'd applied for armed guard certification a few weeks before that - so my b/g check & fingerprints had already been run through some state system somewhere not long ago ... the girl at the fingerprint place told me that would help speed things along.

... I found it interesting how things were phrased on the other end of the phone: quote (more-or-less): "I see we have all your background-check information back and everything looks good ... I'll go ahead and issue your permit today, just allow 7-14 days for it to arrive" I've been putting off 'the call' all week, trying not to be a burden to the system ... I didn't understand that it was actually (apparently) an important part of the process! So if anyone else is like me & not making the call to check-up on your HCP application - thinking it will come when it comes ... pick up the phone! (615)253-5221 & follow the menu.

Just bought a P220 about a month ago ... South of Jackson, TN - http://www.robertsontradingpost.com/ - these guys bought up 60 former duty pistols from the N.H. State Police & I came across them on gunbroker. I couldn't pass one up at their price! In a month I've put about 500 rounds through mine & I couldn't be happier. Sig & HK are top-of-the-line in my opinion ...

Yup - big sign at the entrance ... "no full auto" among some other rules.
