  1. Once the groups started opening up, it continued unchanged with the barrel fouled or cleaned. I pulled the two piece brake last night and discovered a fair amount of carbon buildup between the crown and first port of the brake. I cleaned the crown and swapped in a Lantac Dragon I had lying around and will give that a try in the next day or two. I haven't bore scoped it yet, but to the naked eye, the grooves and lands appear to be okay and there's no obvious issues with the chamber that I can readily see. I read another post on a Savage forum from another guy having a similar issue and he sent his back over a month ago and has yet to hear anything back from Savage. I called them the other day and all I got was some woman who could tell me nothing other than "send it in". Apparently they don't have anyone available to speak with that actually knows what they're talking about.
  2. I have a Savage MSR in .224 Valkyrie and, at the moment, cannot recommend getting one. If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to detail the issues I'm having along with what I've checked and done in a vain attempt to correct the accuracy problems I have. I found jcluffs post very informative as I hadn't heard of the ogive to land issue before, so maybe this is the sourse of my woes.
  3. My name is Randy and I'm new to the forum. I'm into precision rifles and pistols and currently my collection consists mainly of Savage rifles and M&P pistols. I'm a RSO for a local range in the Tri-Cities area and will soon become a NRA and state certified pistol instructor. I found this site while looking for information on issues I'm having with my Valkyrie and decided to join.
