  1. I have always kept a gun in my vehicle. I'd feel better having it on me when I'm at an atm or standing at a gas pump. It's within reach, buy i'd feel better with it close to the vest, as they say. I have to do some running around downtown Nashville this weekend. Maybe it will arrive tomorrow. I can wait a few more days. I assumed if it was mandatory to have it with me, they would have drove that point home in our class or on the state's website.
  2. I have been approved for my ccw and it shows online that it will be mailed within 10 days. Is it legal for me to go ahead and carry without the actual ID card with me? I assume there'd be no issues, unless I had to actually use the gun, but I couldn't find anything online stating we had to have the card on me with a concealed gun.
  3. I had heard some negative things about them, but it was a $1200 gun I scored for $600. The guy didn't tell me about the fte issues, but he didn't know Kimber would fix it, so it worked out I hope. lol
  4. They wouldn't admit it to be defective. They offered to replace the slide for free as part of the paid rebuild. My options when I called was a new slide for $499 or a free slide with the $170 service, so it was a no brainer.
  5. I talked to Kimber yesterday and they gave me an RMA to return it. For $170 they will completely tear the gun down, clean it, replace all the springs and fit a new slide for it. I feel like that's a fair price for a gun out of warranty. The nice thing is I was told the gun would have a new warranty after their work is done. They will ship it back for free. The company I work for has a UPS with negotiated, discount rates, and I can get it over nighted cheaper than if I go to UPS. I will ship it Monday and will follow up with the results. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. An update: They want me to ship it to them at my expense next day air. So around $100 to get it to them. Then they will go through the gun for $225 and replace the slide with a new, fitted slide and ship it back for free. Now to decide if it's worth $325+/-, or just trade it in on another gun and be done with it. Suggestions?
  7. I applied for it last Thursday online, bought 2 guns on Friday, took the class on Saturday, went to the DMV Monday and got fingerprinted at 1:20pm today. It showed it was approved when I went online at 3:30 and said I will receive it within 10 days! Now that was fast.
  8. Guns and Leather does it electronically.
  9. Never mind. I called them and they said it's all electronic now. I didn't know they were open on Sunday.
  10. I took the ccw class at Guns and Leather this past Saturday. I was told we could leave after the range test, so I left. I was just looking at the TN state website about going to the dmv in the morning, but saw this on the site, and now I think I was supposed to wait and get some paperwork for the state? "Applicant shall submit proof of the successful completion of a department approved Handgun Safety Course within the past twelve (12) months. "
  11. Thanks. Odd that they'd require an appointment, but you gotta do what ya gotta do. lol
  12. Hey Shaggy, where in Lebanon did you go for fingerprinting and did you have to make an appointment?
  13. I will let you all know how it turns out, thank you.
  14. I hope you're correct. I have heard they do this because the external extractor was poorly designed on them. I'm just waiting for them to email me back an rma number, but it's been 2 days, so I am going to call them this morning.
  15. That's what I was thinking. I don't mind spending a little to have them refurbish it, but they should replace the slide with the internal extractor at no cost, but we will see I guess.
  16. I have a Kimber Eclipse Ultra II that is having FTE issues. Mine was manufactured in 2004 and has the external extractor, which I have read was the issue. Other Kimber owners that have shipped it in for repair got a new slide with an internal extractor replaced for free, even out of warranty. I emailed them Monday and was told their gunsmith will determine if it's a defect in manufacturing, it would be fixed for no charge, but if not, they'd quote me a price to repair it. My question is if I should send in a 15 year old gun hoping for the free repair, or just go to a local shop? Do any of you have experience dealing with Kimber and/or have an idea if their repair cost is in line with what I'd pay someone local?
  17. If you spring for shipping, do they bring it into the home, or just to the driveway?
  18. Hello guys and gals. I'm Tom and I live in Lebanon. Just getting familiar with your forum and thought I'd sign up. Looking forward to being part of the community.
