Governor Phil Bredesen Vetoes HB0962 (Restaurant Carry Bill)
BryanG replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES! I've already written my district represenative and state senator urging quick override of the Governor's veto. My emails explained that the assertion that "guns and alcohol don't mix" is sound, however misses the point of this legislation. Handgun permit holders already know this and have demonstrated willingness to abide by the law ... something criminals have little regard for. To simply imply that we handgun carriers will use this law to walk into a bar and drink is idiodic and insulting. Write your representative! Do it today! -

Still seeing .40 (100-round) ammo at the Ft Campbell Blvd WM in Clarksville, as of 9:45 pm Thursday (this evening) ... Also some .40 ammo on nearby pallet which should be put out this evening.

As of 0700hrs this morning (14 May) some .40 and .45 ammo is on the shelves at Ft Campbell Blvd and Sango (Madison St) Walmarts in Clarksville. The .40 ammo is in 100-round value packs, and I think I saw between 6 to 9 boxes at each location, while the .45 is only in hollow point. Ft Campbell Blvd has 50-round boxes (about 5 or 6 left when I was there), while the Sango WM had 50 and 100 round boxes.

As of 1100 this morning (Tuesday 12 May) there were about 7 boxes of 100-round .223 at the Ft Campbell Blvd Walmart in Clarksville (I grabbed 3 boxes and left the rest for you...)

Gift from Iraq: American Flag Flown During NAVY Combat Mission
BryanG replied to a topic in General Chat
Cool flag! I was in Iraq when my grandson was born, and had one flown that day. Flag and certificate are put up to present him when he's a young man. -
As of 2:45 pm today (3 May), the Walmart on Ft Campbell Blvd, Clarksville, TN, had ammo ... Saw several boxes of .22 100-rd value packs, .38, .40 and some .45. I bought 2 of the 100-round boxes of .45.

Outstanding! Welcome to the NCO Corps, Sergeant! Take good care of your Soldiers ... and thank you for your service to our Nation!

I had my eye on a $900 Dragunov SVD rifle w/ scope. A bit pricey for me, but Dee told me if I really wanted it to buy the rifle. As much as I want it, it was just enough for me to know that she was good with it. The EOTech I didn't have, and could use on my M4. Will eventually work my way to an ACOG for my Sig Sauer 5.56. Dee has had no issue with me buying 3 semi-auto rifles and a shotgun in the last three months, as well as buying up ammo when Walmart gets it in. Two weks ago I came into 5 100-round boxes of .380. Dee asked me how many I wanted .. When I quietly said "all of them?" She siad 'no problem ... grab them if you need them.' She's the best!

Picked up an EOTech 511 at Brigade Quartermaster at the Fort Campbell, KY Post Exchange. Listed price was $369, but was 25% off, so I paid $281 for it. My wife, Dee, played with it a bit, and after realizing what I wanted it for told me to get it. She's cool that way!

Thanks for your service ... Fellow Vet here. I joined the reserve while a 17 year old high school junior, then active duty a few years later. I retired last year after 22 years active duty (and 6 reserve before that). As a high school kid I took my oath seriously. I went through boot camp between my junior and senior years at school, and even missed my own high school gradation to attend AIT. I'm proud of my service, and proud of those who also wear our nation's uniforms. Had a run-in once with a Marine recruiter who was giving me a hard time about being Army. The young Marine with him made a comment which has stuck with me for over 20 years: "We all salute the same flag." Amen, brother.

Clarksville Walmart (Ft Campbell Blvd) had a decent shippment of this in this past weekend. I went in on Sunday morning, and noticed 2 boxes of .380 on the shelf (which I grabbed) as ell as about 25-30 boxes of the 550-round .22 ammo (I grabbed a couple as well). Employee said that earlier that morning they had .45, 9mm, .40 which quickly was snapped up. Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) my wife called me from Walmart to see which ammo I wanted (she's pretty cool that way). She said that there was 1 box of 550-round .22 ammo left, which she bought me. Empty shelves today, but perhaps more down the road. Seems to be hit-or-miss with Walmart these days.

I'm curious how many of the Mexican drug cartel weapons claimed to have come from the U.S. are, in fact, surplus U.S. military weapons which had been sold/donated to the Mexican government for it's military and law enforcement, then later lost or surrendered ...

Pass gun control laws ... MIRACLE! Crime has just been solved! Florida has a good law on the books directed at criminals who use firearms in the commission of a crime. Billboards when I was there in '02 advertised "5 - 10 - 20-to-Life" law. Simple and common sense. If you possess a firearm during thecommission of a crime, you get an extra 5 years tacked onto your sentence; for firing a weapon duringa crime, an additional 10 years are added to your criminal sentence; if you wound or kill somebody with a firearm while commiting a crime, then an additional 20 years to life are added tothe criminal sentence, depending on the results of the shooting. If these anti-gun folks would target the criminals, rather than we law-abiding citizens, perhaps some difference might be made. As it is, there are simply those who hate weapons, and will use any excuse to deny regular people the right the own and possess them

I scored this evening! I took my wife out to dinner, after which we went to Walmart for a few things. While wandering past the sporting goods counter, I had to satisfy my curiosity ... I knew that they'd have nothing in the handgun ammo department, but figured I'd take a moment to see for myself. My jaw dropped when I saw the 5 boxes of Winchester .380 Ammo (100-round value packs @$31.92) on the shelf! The young man behind the counter said that they had just gotten it in, and placed it on the shelf an hour ago. My wife, Dee, recognized the look I had on my face, when she asked me how many I wanted to get. "Can I get 3?" She said "go ahead, Sweetie." The young employee set 3 of the boxes on the counter and asked if there was anything else he could get me. Sheepishly, I replied "uhh ... the other 2 boxes?" My wife looked at me, and said "go for it." This was a great evening, and I have the coolest wife!

Wow. Can't really find the words ... wow.

Weapon prices at the Ft Campbell PX aren't too bad ... I paid $750 each for 2 DPMS rifles (an M4 and AR15). Seen the same rifles off post for $900-$1200. Also - saved quite a few $$ by not having to pay state taxes. Ammo is pricey there, however. What little they carry tends to be top of the line / match grade type ammo, and not the inexpensive rounds for using up at the range.

Noticeable how you never see national news on those occasions where armed and responsible citizens defend themselves with a firearm, or use a firearm to foil a crime in progress. I'm sure there are those who will point to these sad incidents and try to used them as justification to ban one sort of firearm or another. Yet these same firearms critics never seem to get it that of all the millions of legally owned firearms out there, just how rare these incidents are. Scratch thet ... They know, but don't really care. What a novel idea: Pass more firearms laws ... Crime solved!

Came across this today: 1 dead after shooting at Fort Bliss © 2009 The Associated Press April 4, 2009, 8:39PM FORT BLISS, Texas — A Fort Bliss soldier was shot to death Saturday afternoon at the Fort Bliss Post Exchange by her husband, who then wounded himself, authorities said. The man, a civilian, was in intensive care at University Medical Center in El Paso, said Col. Ed Manning, the garrison commander at Fort Bliss. Names were not immediately released. Manning said that the woman was at Fort Bliss for training and lived on the post. He said the man did not live on the post. Manning said the shooting was an isolated incident, adding that the post is safe. FBI spokeswoman Andrea Simmons told the El Paso Times that after shooting the soldier, the man tried to kill himself. Fort Campbell has been pushing for weapon registration for off-post Soldiers, as well as those who live on base. Post Exchange (PX) has a gun shop, which now requires new weapon purchases to be registered with the post on the spot. I'm curious to see if there will be "knee-jerk" policies put into place as a result of the Fort Bliss PX shooting...

Cool Jeep! I had a '95 Wrangler, which was fun, but hard on my bad back. Traded it for a small SUV for my wife. A year later she surprised me, by buying me an old used Jeep ('85 CJ7) ... which she found at a yard sale! It's loud (color and engine noise), rusty, smokes like a chimney, leaks oil like a sieve. And I love it! The 'Jeep wave' took me some getting used to when I had my first Jeep. Amuses my wife, who askes me "how many waves did you get today?" when I take it out. Enjoy your new ride!

Congratulations on the Jeep ... I had a '95 Wrangler, which I enjoyed, but was killer on my bad back (it was my primary transportation at the time). Traded it to get my wife a SUV she liked. A year later she surprised me, and found me an old piece 'o crap Jeep to knock around on the weekends ... at a yard sale! It's loud (both in engine noise and color), smokes, leaks oil,and is rusty. And I love it! Enjoy your new Jeep.

Each one with my wife's blessing! She's the coolest! Two DPMS rifles and Sig Sauer .556. I'm working on shmoozing her towards the sights I'd like on the M4 and Sig ...
