  1. "Authorities say he was arrested for burglary in Miami Gardens and for burglary, display of a firearm and aggravated battery in Opa-Locka in May. They say he was arrested for possessing cocaine in September of 2011 and in April of 2011, he was arrested by School Board police for battery on a law enforcement officer."

"Vereen said there was nothing in Jackson’s past to lead him to believe that he would commit such a crime."

Really? You didn't see something like this coming?

  2. I've tried the Winchester subsonic ammo and love it. I have a burn barrel in my back yard for tree limbs, leaves, unwanted mail and documents with sensitive private info and it would not get enough oxygen to maintain fire, so a box of that with the can on a Walther P22, I was able to drill some ventilation holes without freaking out the neighbors. Still have a few hundred rounds of it.

  3. First, thank you for your response. I have two Walther P22s' I have used it on,but my primary reason for ever getting one was for the Ruger 10/22. It is my "go to" rifle of choice for Zombies, and all that mess. I know I made a mistake getting the Mite well before my tax stamp came back. I'm leaning toward letting them do the rebuild as they do use K-baffles and again, this is a lifetime investment as it is not something you just sell to someone and part with.

Looking at the videos, it seems to be worth it, but not sure how the rebuilds compare to other top of the line cans. I know videos can be manipulated and just want to be cautious with my money. I wish I had done more research to begin with before ever purchasing it, but I did not do that, and I own it. I'm going to make the best of what it is. The 10/22 I use it on has a 16 1/2" barrel.

I was unaware that some cans work better on pistols vs rifles ect. Thats why I love this place, I constantly learn something here.

  4. I kick myself now for not spending the extra money on a better suppressor, but I ended up getting a YHM Mite. It of course is something I will have for life and never part with. I've been researching XCaliber as they rebuild suppressors with their baffles. The Youtube videos look good and all that, but has anyone here had any dealings with them? To rebuild my Mite, would be $300. Again, I've seen their videos, but want the opinions of anyone that has actually done this or even had any dealings with this company. I know the Mite is on the low end of "Quiet" as far as suppressors go, but from the videos, it looks like the rebuild would make it a top competitor in .22 suppressor world.

  5. V8 chainsaws scare the crap out of me......very cool if your serious about firewood and logging. I view firearms as a tool but like Dolomite stated about the complexity, these things were made before calipers, CNC and all that fancy technology we have today. True works of art in function, I guess the diamonds and crap are just "bling".

  6. One thing is certain. It is not about protecting people, and it is not about chemical weapons. Pipeline from Qatar perhaps? It is all about money. Even if it actually was about protecting people, who made the United States world policeman? We have our own problems here. Take care of your own mess then help your neighbor.

  7. I've loaded some S&W 500 magnum that I was hesitant to try. After checking data from several different sources, I was confident that it was ok. I sprinkle my powder on the scale and if it comes up any amount over what I'm shooting for, it goes back in the powder tub and I start over. It is very time consuming, but I know for a fact that I'm following the manual and with multiple cross references, I'm confident in my loads now.

  8. Your going to find a-holes at every airline. Having done contract work for many airlines in the past, I've had to deal with many. With contract negotiations, broken promises from management, dealing with the public, I can't say I would be any different, but in the same breath, that does not give employees the right to be rude. Funny how airlines are hurting so bad that they continue to try to rape every penny from the employees while management gets raises every year. I make less now than I did eight years ago. We voted in a paycut to "save our jobs". We were sold anyway and guess what? It was not enough. We need to give more! The CEO of the airline I work for got a 67% raise last year and now they want to cut sick time, do away with OJI, stop 401K match, reduce vacation, make substantial paycuts, increase our health insurance and many other things to screw us. Airlines do not care about quality of service or their employees. All they care about is how much something cost. Just something to think about. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, if I didn't, I would have left it long ago.

  9. I love a glass of Scotch whiskey and just reflecting on the day. I get the most satisfaction from getting an aircraft back up after there is a mechanical problem and people are worrying about their connections. Just to see it take off is very rewarding to me as I know they all travel for different reasons, some for business, vacation, personal emergencies, whatever the case is. I feel good to be able to give a flight crew a good aircraft so they can do their job and get people where they need to be.

  10. Embraer (aircraft manufacture) 145 (model) been wrenching on them for going on 13 years. Just seemed cool at the time.

NCOMARC is also a fellow mechanic with us. He just wont admit it.

  11. Video showing pvt to me as well. Not sure what it shows, but want to say bless you all that are there dealing with what you have to face. I left Afghanistan in 2005, but there has not been a day go by that I'm not there. You don't get over it, you learn to control it in your everyday life.

  12. I read this thread yesterday and thought nothing of it. Last night I couldn't sleep and stayed up really late. When I did try to sleep I was half awake, half asleep and couldn't help but dream of rattle snakes. One bit me when I tried heading for the kitchen. Dreams and all, it was freaky to me. I had a good breakfast though and no rattlers around.

  13. I have one with the changeable cylinder. Shoots both long rifle or magnum. Great little gun and the thing I love is the fact you can rest the hammer between chambers. No chance of it going off without cocking the hammer and squeezing the trigger. Its a close up get off me gun, but 5 rounds of single action 22 mag is better than an empty pocket.

  14. I was at Academy Sports in Smyrna yesterday and talking with the guy working the gun counter. He said the same 4 or 5 guys show up and buy the ammo when the store opens. They are out of .22LR about 30 minutes after they open. He seen the same guys at the gun show trying to sell it. Pure greed on their part.

Sorry for the thread drift, just venting.

  15. What are the subcompact options if I wanted a metal gun, not a polymer frame thing?

This is my experience. I carried a Kel-Tec for a few years, and then found the Sig P238. Night and day. The Sig is actually a great gun to shoot and practice with where the Kel-Tec is a "get off me" gun and by no means a gun you would want to practice with at the range the same way you would a Sig. That said, they cost more than a Ruger LCP or Kel-Tec.

Back to the old saying that you get what you pay for. I have very little trigger time with the Kahr pistols, but from everything I've read, they are great guns. It all comes down to comfort, function and what you are willing to spend. I have no regrets at all going with the Sig. Kahr is most likely a great choice as well.

If I were looking for a new carry gun, I would try to find people to let me shoot theirs or rent different guns at the range. Just like a pair of shoes. Try it before you invest in something that just doesn't work for you. Another thing you can do if your interested is check out youtube videos for reviews. Hikoc45 has alot of great information on alot of different firearms to help determine what would be best for your needs.
