  1. For a true key chain micro light, I have a Inova microlight. Its not a thrower or anything, but for just basic light to work and find things, it is an excellent micro light. I still carry the one I carried in Afghanistan in 2004-2005. I accidently left it in my pocket and it went for a ride in the washing machine and died, but I took the circuit board out, let it air dry for a few days and with new batteries, it still works great. Great little light for less than $10.

  2. I miss the show "Mail Call" with Gunny. I read an article where they interviewed him and he talked about reading the names of Marines he trained as a DI  that did not come home. Despite the TV, movies, commercials, endorsement deals, he is a real deal Marine. Would love to spend a day on the range with him and buy him a beer afterwards.

  3. Warren vs The District Of Columbia. That and the anti parking lot folks, what option do we have? They can't have it both ways and I wish no harm against anyone, but there will be a day when this this all comes to a crossing and I hope/pray it goes our way. Police have no duty to protect, but at the same time, you are restricted to protect yourself. Something has to give somewhere. Its nice to hear that alot of LEOs'  understand the Catch-22.

  4. I went to dinner with my parents and nephew tonight. He is 15yrs old and we started talking about what he planned to do after high school. Me and my father mentioned the military and that it would be good for him. Needless to say, we got on the subject of basic training and it tripped memories for my father as well as myself.

I really thought about how much the military molded me to be the person I am today. I retired in Aug 2009 with 20 yrs 9 months 3 weeks of service. To this day, I still have the mind that everything has a place, everything has a purpose.

Looking back on basic training and my military career, it was a living hell as most will know, but at the same time, it is something that I cherish and am damn glad that I went through it. I now sleep late when I can. Exercise very little, eat bad foods, pretty much I just work and do what I have to.

I would love the opportunity to go back to basic and have a boot up my backside to make me do the things that I should be doing. Running alone isn't fun, but get 40 plus guys together and no one wants to be the one to drop out.

Who else here would do it all over again?

  5. I've had cars behind me disappear before while driving. Check mirror, car there. Check again, car gone. No place they could have turned off, and don't see them pulled off to the side in my mirror. I'm not sure where they could have gone unless they made their own path off of the road.
