  1. From a KY fan, I can't disagree about the P11. I've had a p32 for years and found it to be quite good--functions well, pretty accurate for such a short barrel, and an acceptable trigger. So I bought a p11 when they came out. Awful trigger pull and terribly inaccurate. And as you said, very harsh shooting. Sold the gun as fast as I could. Might someday go to the 380, but I doubt it. Not enough difference between them to really make it worthwhile.

  2. I agree, the 9mm revolvers are novel and a lot a fun to shoot. I have a S&W Model 547 that I found in Specialty Arms about 7/8 years ago. I bought it for the novelty factor but found it fun to shoot and pretty accurate as well. However, unlike the comments on late model Ruger and Taurus versions, the 547 does have a pretty strong recoil. Actually feels like a 357. And it definitely doesn't like dirty ammo. Twenty or so rounds and it gums up heavily.

  3. A good choice for your first 1911. I think you'll find, as jHatmaker says, it won't be your last. My first was a Colt Officer's model, an early 70's Auto Ordnance, a very old Remington Rand ex-service pistol, and then a high-priced toy--a 945 S&W Performance Center Micro 45. But my current favorite is a Springfield LW Champion Operator. Very Accurate! It's a short-barrel commander size and feeds everthing I've put thru it. With the aluminum frame it's a handful, but 185 grain fmj or jhp seem to be the best load for it. You'll enjoy getting to know the Springfield.

  4. Great choice with the xd! I've had an xd9 for about a year. Very accurate, easy to shoot and maintain. Mtac iwb carry holster. You won't regret it. Thinking of upgrading to an xd45sc.

  5. I bought the Jerico 941Pistol Pak-9mm/41AE years ago when it was introduced. Still own it. A good shooter with both calibers, but the earlier versions of the 41AE weren't the most accurate. The 9mm was and still is excellent. But as previously said, it's a little heavy for carry. I was told at the time of purchase that the sherrif in Lavergne had one as his carry/duty gun. This info came from Specialty Arms. Personally, I prefer the Jerico over the Beretta 92, but that's just my opinion.

  6. I would agree about the Sigma pistols. I bought a SW40ve used at a steal. Didn't think I'd like it because of all the negative comments made about them. So I took it to G&L and was pleasantly surprised. The gun holds well, is pretty accurate and has very little recoil.

All in all, it's a prety good low cost handgun. It's not an xd40, but not bad.

  7. I'll echo the previous guys comments on the xd pistols. I have 3 now, looking to pick up a 4" xd45 next. They are accurate, easy to carry and shoot, and can be found used at good prices. All mine were bought used and I've been very satisfied with them.

BTW, I don't know Rightwinger, except by reputation here, but his offer is a good one. I've thought about picking it up myself.

Don't be afraid to pick up this xd at this price, you won't regret it.

  8. I'm not downing the Glock pistols. They seem to be fine weapons; but just like many others say--they just don't seem to suit me.

That bring said, I own four Springfield pistols--xd9c xd40,a.357 sig.and a 1911 Operator. all the polymer guns function flawlessly. I've never had even a misfeed with any of them. All very accurate especially the xd9c(surprisingly, since the 3" barrel) and the .357 sig. The .357 sig is a bit stong on recoil, but not excessive.

The Operator is a wonderful example of the many fine 1911's available.

I bought all of these used and have no issues at all with them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another for the right price.

Just my opinion, but I favor the xd line.

  9. Seriously, I used to think that the idea of keeping 1000 rounds of my primary shooting calibers was maybe a little over the top, but now......?

I don't "hoard" ammo at the expense of keeping others from buying, but I do have a minimum round count per caliber that I try to maintain and try to use oldest ammo first when range time comes around.

Some of my friends called me crazy/fanatic/even panic-driven; but during the last few months of 'shortages' I could go shooting without scrounging the stores or having to pay extravagant prices. And I will continue to buy a few extra boxes as prices and availability comes back to a more normal level.

  10. Man, you guys make me feel old. I don't even recognize sone of the references, but I'll check them out, I haven't found very much musically that I can't appreciate.

Currently listening to Marc Cohn from the early 90's-- probably best known for "Walkin' in Memphis" and my personal favorite; "Silver Thunderbird"; which could have been written for and about my father.

  11. Personal opinion, love my xd40 compact. Light, easily carried, very accurate. Also have Taurus Milpro PT140. Good gun. Not as accurate or pleasant to soot as the xd, but usually can be found new/used 75/100 or sometimes more, cheaper.

You won't go wrong with either.

But go with what fits your hand and feels best, not what is recommended by shop salespeople or any of us. That's just my humble opinion.
