  1. More Cleanout.

Kestrel 4500 NV with Bluetooth.   Comes with the Kestrel tripod, wind vane, etc in the carrying case.

$250.   Meet somewhere around Chapel Hill/Franklin/Columbia/Murfreesboro.

  2. More downsizing.

Excellent condition 6" 648-2.   I thought I had the box, but apparently not.  Ahrends cocobolo grips.  You can't get them anymore and they are very expensive to buy them now.  Most I see are in the $250 range  I am pretty sure I have the original Hogue's here that I will include if I can find them.  I won't separate the Ahrends grips from the pistol.

$1000.   Meet within a reasonable distance (30 min) of Chapel Hill.

I only remember ever bumping into one of these as a kid. It was at a place in Gallatin that we frequented on Sunday after church called "The smoke house". It's been gone for probably 30+ years at least. They had one of these in the bathroom and I swear it just rotated the nasty towel around it. So stained that half the time i just washed my hands and slung off the water instead of using it.

You see these in Europe quite often still today.  Our office still has them.  They are considered more environmentally friendly.

  4. Having to flip food has as much to do with the basket you use as the type of food.  The air has to be able to get to that side of the food to crisp it.   Most come with some type of basket/grate for this purpose.

What is the best fryer to buy?

I think the advice above your post is good, don’t get too small.   You need to decide if you want to leave it on the counter or if you want to store it.   That was the reason I got the one I linked to.  Sits on my counter so I am more likely to use it, but folds up out of the way when I don’t.

Most of them are going to be decent.  Amazon reviews will probably give you the best large review base if you find a style or one you like the looks of.

  6. Air Fryers are just small convection ovens.  Doesn't really matter on the format, just that the air is moving.  I have one that is more like a toaster oven that folds up so it doesn't take up as much space on the counter when not in use, but is easily accessible.  Works well and seems to have a bit more room than some.  Got mine at Costco.

  7. They are both 20x Unertl’s.   I like them on these old guns.  I have a 14x on my 52D but will say I think some of the most fun I have is shooting with the peep sites on my 52C.   It’s pretty incredible how little of groups you can shoot with peep sight with appropriately sized inserts for the target.

  8. I am so far down the rimfire rabbit hole I won’t get out.    But I’m also into uber accuracy.  Love old rimfire’s.  If you are into rimfires, you need a 40x or 52 to really appreciate them from the old days.

Are you clicking on the details?

    https://cs.startswith.us/citizensolutions/tn/issue/2/proposal/11

    because like the proposal:

for Gun Literacy Materials you would find further expansion on the details below. Every single proposal has a more in-depth picture when you click details.

    • School resources could be integrated into existing social emotional learning (SEL), health, or civics curriculums.
    • Media resources could include an unbiased language guide that defines factual terminology to discuss gun issues, and guidance on how to interview/report on families affected by gun violence.
    • Community resources could utilize a “train the trainer” model, with experienced firearms trainers first training community leaders on existing laws; safe gun use; safe storage; and de-escalation and avoidance tips. These leaders, in turn, would become qualified to train community members

    *could*.

They just as easily leave out all of that once it is said and done.  Anything even remotely considerable has to use shall or must.   Words matter and it’s just a game to appease until it’s not.

Well, what money I have is "stupid" money for sure, ha, ha.  But as I mentioned in my original post, I already have a Winchester 52 and a 75 which is almost on the same par, but those rifles are very heavy and not what I need for long walks and lots of off hand shooting.

I did find something today in a pawn shop.  It is a classic from Remington.  The model 512P Sportsman.  Bolt action and tube fed.  This one was made in 1946 and it fits all of the needs that I have.  While I have run some rounds through it, I have not sighted it in yet so I will need to get some time to do that and dial it in.

Understood you have a 52, but I was referring to the Sporter model, not the training model.

    Something like this. 😃

This is a bit high but probably not as much as you would hope.

  11. I would look for something like a CZ 452 American with the 16" threaded barrel.  Classic looks, good quality, light, and great feel.  Hard to find 452's sometimes, but they may be out there.   I use mine to plink off the porch all the time.

Or if you have stupid money, a Winchester Model 52C Sporter (original of course :))
