Royal range put on a free active shooter class last night, and the cops in there were saying if you're in civvies (even off-duty cops) during an active shooter incident, you do not have a gun in your hands around uniformed cops because it's a good way to end up dead.

Yeah the rule is get you and your family out and only draw your weapon if you are confronted by a shooter because responding officers will think you're the shooter.

Gabby Gifford has become the left's modern day James Brady. Any time there is a noteworthy shooting, they waste no time trotting her in front of news cameras.

Mark shove your hand up Gabby's butt and work her mouth like the good puppet she is.

  3. Since Farnsworths has closed I'm looking for a gun shop with a good selection of used long guns. Something that's been used a couple of deer seasons and then traded in on some new hotness. A shop between Knoxville and Chattanooga would be best. Anyone got any suggestions?

He was a member that was on TGO until he got banned. Spouted a bunch of Christian Identity stuff and I was wondering if that was whom you referenced earlier in the thread.

No no this gentleman passed away 20-25 years ago. He just spoke about it at church a few times and that's why I read the article/threads over there on it. Figured out real quick it wasn't the same thing but was still interesting in a way. Kinda like how I looked into Islam the 1st time I read Dune.

Back in 05 or 08 it was fashionable for ARFCOMER to troll Stormfront like they do Democract Underground now.

Most of the general discussion was around "how white is white". Mostly it was the "pure blood" Euros arguing with the "muggle born" Americans. They'd throw around percentages like "Well 96% white might as well be black" and crap like that.  Ton's of the stupid ####  you'd expect from that bunch.

Usually we just hammered them in the firearm section where the topics were "what's the best cheapest AR?" or "Which tapco stock for my AK".  There was a couple of interesting threads on Christian Identity which I read because there was an older gentleman around here who thought America might be the lost tribe of Israel. But overall it was basically just watching the idiots fling their verbal poo at each other. Then we'd all post back on ARFCOM the stupid comments they made and who they ban from the site that week.

I have actually had people come onto family property and demand we give them a certain tree that they say belongs to them. Seems there great, great uncle on their mother's side told them when they were a child, 50+ years ago, they could have that tree when he died and now they are here to collect since he has passed. A lot of people these days have ZERO respect for anything they did not pay for or put effort into. If I borrow something it goes back in as good a shape or it is replaced. I have lent out a bunch of stuff over the years and you would not believe how people treat your stuff. Often comes back way worse or they get upset that you won't just let them keep it. Lent a quad rail out last year, it came back with two cross threaded screw holes and a few screws missing. He wanted to borrow it for a "week or two" but it took over 6 months to get it back.

When I was young every time Dad borrowed something from relatives it tore up, usually because they didn't maintain it right. After replacing a few things he got to where he'd just go buy whatever we needed even if we only used it 2 or 3 times.

  7. You might ask around at the house trailer places if they have any used tires.  We just replaced the tires on our big trailer with trailer tires. Just had regular radials on it for while because it doesn't get used much on the road.

I have both, Sig is OK, but can't replace my M&P.  I tried to like the Sig, has the novelty of changing frames, bbls, caliber, etc., but I believe one is better off just buying another gun in that case.  On the other hand, use your Sig, just don't drop it, which is the same rule I have for any gun.

I've been getting my M&P full size ready for carry. It's not easy when you've got a ton of glock mags and glock "stuff". I shoot my Pro in IDPA and I just shoot it so much better than the glocks even if they are the AK of pistols.

  9. I shoot the smith better because the trigger pulls are so sweet.  I'll have to get dies and components for either one so I wanting to get set up for a good overall field gun  that I could press into service for just about anything......kinda like a 308 but in a handgun. Might be overkill for say deer but works for everything under elk as far as a rifle goes.

I looked at the buffalo bullets offerings and their "deer grenade" works in a Smith and that's a pretty hot high end load.

I would say go with .44 for versatility from a platform standpoint.  Both are extremely versatile calibers but the Smith is a stronger gun.  While .45 Colt can be loaded to exceed .44 Magnum, the Vaquero is not the pistol to do it with.

Edit:  As you said it was an old large frame Vaq it might be about even from a practical standpoint.  Weren't those built on Blackhawk frames?

BTW, the .44 Magnum was originally invented due to the lack of versatility in the .45 Colt from a component and overall strength standpoint.

Which one do you shoot better?  Either one will stop what you need stopped.

They were. The old ones have the larger blackhawk frame where as the new models have the smaller more SAA Colt like frame.

Unfortunately, roughly 100% of the people that need a sign to tell them to stay off of someone else's property will ignore the sign anyway.

yeah it's a really hard concept for some "hunters", and regular people too, that if you don't pay land taxes on it then stay the hell off of it.  The whole "well it wasn't posted" excuse......your yard isn't posted and no one just hauls out lawn chairs and grill and has a BBQ.

Did you shoot bay 8 at ORSA this month?

Yeah and I slowed down and aimed..all head shot and swore everyone to not tell Justin Cooper that I can aim.

My point was you can do well at IDPA distances with standard factory sights.
