  1. I've got land about 8 hours away. So if TSHTF, I could hole up there. Sure, it is a long way but these things don't happen all at once in TN.

Still the SHTF scarenario worries me. While everyone else will be shooting zombies and such the first things I'll have to shoot is my in laws.

    Zing! :)

but seriously - 8 hours is a long way for a BOL. If you plan on using a vehicle to get there, make sure to keep enough fuel onsite to make the trip. Thats what I do. Also - a waterproof map on how to get there (preferably avoiding interstates and large cities), is nice to have as well.

  2. This flood has opened my eyes to how woefully unprepared I was in the case of an emergency. I have all the supplies and tools but they were in various states of togetherness. If SHTF for real I would be sweatin to get out of Dodge to my secret lair. I spent today making sure that this doesn't happen twice. Ultimately, you can never carry everything you need and off-site storage is a necessity. Thoughts and opinions welcome. Is anyone here into long term food storage? Any info, links, suggestions on this topic is greatly welcome.

I store food and water to last a long time. Get a good vacuum sealer and some food grade buckets. Spend some time here: http://www.whenshtf.com (not sure why its down right now.... SHTF maybe?)

  3. How does it mean nothing for state issued permit holders? Did I miss something? Maybe I am mistaken.
This ordinance means nothing for someone with a state issued handgun carry permit. It does mean the guy with the AK pistol will be hassled to the ends of the state if he decides to go back there now that he has his permit suspended and openly carry an unloaded handgun like he is determined to do.

razorback2003, it would appear you are correct. I just heard from the Belle Meade Chief of Police who informed me that this ordinance will not ban lawful carry of a handgun in Belle Meade. Rather, it updates the current ordinance that has been on the books for a long time. A valid handgun carry permit holder will still be able to lawfully carry in Belle Meade.

Right-to-Carry Ban Proposed in Belle Meade!

Please Stand Up and Make Your Voices Heard!

On Wednesday, March 17, the Belle Meade Board of Commissioners will consider a proposed ordinance (Ordinance 2010-2) that would forbid any person with a handgun carry permit to carry within the city limits.

Not only does this legislation create a victim zone inside Belle Meade by disarming law-abiding citizens, it is also a clear violation of Tennessee’s preemption statutes.

The Board of Commissioners will meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Belle Meade City Hall located at 4705 Harding Road.

Please make plans to attend Wednesday’s hearing and voice your opposition to Ordinance 2010-2. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and Board of Commissioners TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose this illegal and ill-conceived proposal. Restaurant Carry Reform Measure Takes a Step Forward

Please Contact the Members of the House Judiciary Committee Today!

On Wednesday, March 10 the House Judiciary Criminal Practice Sub-Committee passed House Bill 3125 by a vote of 4-2. This legislation will now be heard by the House Judiciary Committee.

HB3125, with an NRA-backed amendment, would enable a person who has a valid Right-to-Carry permit to carry a firearm into restaurants where alcohol may be served, as long as the permit holder is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions. HB3125, introduced by State Representative Curry Todd (R-95), was filed in response to Chancellor Claudia Bonnyman’s ruling last November. The current law was ruled as being unconstitutionally vague because of a perceived ambiguity over the state’s definition of restaurants. This bill, with the NRA-backed amendment, will fix any ambiguity.

NRA-ILA would like to thank the of the members of the House Judiciary Criminal Practice Sub-Committee for their hard work on HB3125.

Please contact members of the House Judiciary Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support HB3125. Contact information for the committee can be found below.

Armatix pistol / wristwatch combo tells time... to stay put

    -from endgadget Jan 31st 2010

    armatix-pistol-01-31-2010.jpg

Armatix has apparently been working on its so-called "smartgun" concept for quite a while, but it's now finally shown up at the Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT, naturally) with its first actual product: a .22-caliber pistol that relies on a wristwatch as a safety. As you can probably figure out, the gun will only unlock itself when its in close proximity to the watch, which sends a "wireless arming signal" that, of course, also activates some green LEDs for good measure. Previous incarnations of the company's concept also relied on a fingerprint ID as an additional safety, but that seems to have been left off this production model, which will run €7,000 (or $9,700) when it starts shipping next month.
